I'm not sure if something so blatant as overthrowing the government is a possibility because all branches of the federal government have been successfully taken over by conservatives. Trump was democratically elected (lol) and has the legislative and judiciary branches of government on his side. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the government has already been overthrown and it wasn't with a coup d'etat, it was the consequence of decades of conservative strategy and a lack of adequate response from the incompetent democratic party. The media (both social media and traditional news outlets) collectively bending the knee is another unfortunate sign that the takeover has already happened. As for Trump staying in office, part of fascism is a strict interpretation of law for enemies of the state and an elastic interpretation for those who already have power. If they want, the government can interpret already existing law or create new law to forever disadvantage the opposing party or keep Trump and Vance in power forever. It's hard to predict the future on this because it depends on what exactly Trump wants to do (because he can do whatever he wants now basically).

Freshman orientation at college. I have no friends and have been cooped up in my dorm playing League of Legends for the last 5 days. I see a poster for a class of 2016 karaoke night and muster up the strength to go by myself to meet new friends. But I get there and for an hour or so nobody is talking to me so I'm awkwardly standing by myself doomscrolling. I figure I will break the ice by singing Toxic by Britney Spears in front of the crowd of 200 people but as I do this I am oscillating awkwardly between male and female range cuz I never sang this song before and I feel completely ridiculous. I ended up leaving with no friends and a million regrets, one of which being that I can no longer listen to Britney Spears Toxic without being transported back to that horrible moment.

i looked into it and apparently ios doesn't let you sideload apps with APKs but there is still a way to sideload with ios. i don't know what it is since i'm android but i'm confident that the community will find a way!!

even if apple/google are bitter boots and don't want to add tiktok back to their platforms, you can still get the apps by downloading the apk and sideloading it onto your phone. like hinge isn't available for download on google play in my country but i just sideloaded it and it works fine

Sure hate speech is free speech but also social media platforms are not the public square. These are privately owned companies who have the right to determine what kind of content is permitted on their platform. And then there's the whole mess of advertisers who don't want their brand associated with nazis. Also there are LGBTQ people on the meta team who will voice concern and outrage about what effect on society their work is having. So Zuck reversing the ban on transphobic hate speech is protecting free speech. Yay. Meanwhile the Vivienne is dead due in no small part to the constant barrage of conservative hate she got. Meta is communicating their values on trans rights with this decision and believe me the message is heard loud and clear
