  1. Wait, you guys... This thread was started by "LegendX" to troll Lana fans about her underwhelming success. And then Paradise bulldozed Lotus in the charts totally out of the blue. I mean, I'm not usually one to take part in these sort of stan wars, but that is too rich :creepy: :creepy: :creepy:
  2. Whereas Gods & Monsters is many other people's biggest disappointment. These conflicting opinions are interesting me. Repent immediately for scoring your lord and savior Cola so low.
  3. A little tiiiiiiiired, even more ~confused~ That made me smile. Sirens can be so good when it wants to be.
  4. Good Bless America Will someone please just take away my right to gif? Unpopular opinion: She doesn't need lyrical prowess to make fantastic music. Another: Paradise isn't boxed into the same "Lana Del Rey" aesthetic and sound as Born to Die. It tremendously improves upon it :badbitch: #deludedstan
  5. Get that caution But Lana, pleeeeeaaaase stop being a cunt about America. How about that turn-out at your "Ride" premiere for a simple video? How about me waiting four hours to meet you?

What is my mind even doing right now... The idea of incest just makes me shudder, but when you throw consent into the equation I have to actually push aside my comfortable young life and think critically. Mostly these open questions are leaving me like, "I DON'T KNOOOOOOOW."
  7. Another thing I've been meaning to talk about. I do reckon she cheated on Barrie. She lived with a former boyfriend in New York around that time and--in my world--definitely had a thing with Bradley. Both could only have occurred after August 2011. Anyone else remember reading about them breaking up, around May was it? It could have something to do with that, hence the melancholy undertones of "Ride" and potentially "Body Electric". I think the reason they're so public now is because Lana proved she was done messing around when they got back together. But Hunter, I'm interested in why you think Bradley and Porcelain Black were together at the time.

I thoroughly dislike or don't care for Warrior, Crazy Kids, All That Matters, Love Into the Light, Last Goodbye, and Out Alive. I really like all the rest, but I'm unresolved on a favorite. Possibly "Only Wanna Dance With You" or "Thinking of You".

    Yeah Yeah Yeahs

It became her "psycho opera", Stop the Virgens. (The source of the song "Duet".) They both talk about it in the video here (Sam Spiegel is "Squeak E. Clean").

  12. You're a darling. I had no idea Bradley and Porcelain were a thing when Lana hired him. Very interesting. That pretty much makes her the other woman no matter what, hmm? You see, I'm confident they had a fling. I think it's a bit naive to say they didn't. "Cola" is interesting. I'm pretty sure the verses have nothing to do with the chorus and serve only as poetry of a sort to emphasize what a badass slut she is. I only think this because Barrie inspired the Pepsi cola line, and yet he's not one of those "men who are older". And he's certainly not married. I think it absolutely makes sense for it to be about Bradley. Which leaves "Radio" kind of in the dust... If there are no objections or counterarguments, I'm going to go ahead and call "Cola" our second Bradley song Was hoping for at least one on Paradise.

    Cola

You know it's odd, she expresses a great admiration for her dad ("That's the way my father made his life an art", "I pledge allegiance to my dad for teaching me everything he knows"), yet has classic signs of daddy issues. I wonder if they ever had any conflict. I think she's just playing off the shock factor in "Cola" as much as she can--not insinuating that she's in love with her dad.
  19. I'm really not going to say "That's okay, but I disagree" every time my opinion differs from yours. That's not a conversation. Sorry.

  21. Asking for your opinion doesn't automatically implicate that I'm going to agree with it, or that I should, that's ridiculous.
  22. Thereabouts, my good man: http://lanadelreyonline.com/lana-del-rey-on-dutch-show-langs-de-leeuw/ Wonder if there should perhaps be a thread on the topic, it seems a lot of people missed it.
  23. I really don't think so, and I at least attempt to pride myself on paying close attention to lyrics and themes. I suppose one could interpret "Do you wanna jump?" in the "we got a jumper"/"jumping off-a bridges" sense, but nothing else particularly suggests that. Seems like a drugged-out love song to me, with a typical Lana Del Rey vagueness hinting at the demise of the relationship in the third verse. Let me emphasize again that I like the demo about as much as I like any other solid demo that's pretty similar to the album version. I'm totally lost when it comes to the arguments against the album version for that very reason. And to hop on the bandwagon: I'm a fan of the guitars-jumping technique (in a song called "Jump", har-har) because it's clever and pleasing to my ears. I like a less straightforward delivery. Really, the final just seems like a spiffed-up version of the demo.
