The problem of comparing female artists to each other more often than males or groups to each other is an old one.

I have nothing against Lorde (think she's pretty and like her music) but can't stand it when a critic or music journalist forces a comparison to LDR, especially in non-musical terms. It seems like it's done with the same motivation that one takes a stick to an anthill (as @ suggests). I suppose the most you should say (as music journalist) is something like: "if you like Lorde's music, you might like LDR's, and vice versa" and maybe give a few concrete examples about why, but that's about it.

    Thank you.

And I would like to add that for a 17-year old, she seems a lot more mature than those constantly going on about how much she will never be somewhat significant. Also, given that she recorded The Love Club at age 15, that makes me ask myself: 'What the fuck did I do at age 15?'
I'm not saying she's accomplished more than some people ever will in their life, but at least she is doing something with it other than ranting for hours and hours on the internet. I suppose this is normal, though, when one [Lorde] is outspoken and eloquent. At age 17.

While it's being discussed: I find her to be very beautiful, actually. I don't know what kind of fucked up beauty ideals some of you grew up with, but saying that she is ugly would aesthetically be an insult to 98% of humanity.

Can you both bring it all the way down and shut the fuck up

She's seventeen, do you not feel disgusting making some of those comments about a child?

And who says she's even trying to accomplish the same thing as Lana? They both have low voices and they're white alternative singers. Other comparisons? The hip-hop beats? Now that's hilarious. Yeah, Lorde is hip-hop.

I like Lorde and her personality is usually misunderstood and her looks always judged too hard. Don't tell me what I have to admit

Stop talking about it. Or write a blog I don't give a shit just stop being horrible people where I have to look at it

I will never understand how Lorde is even remotely similar to Lana, but I am all for eloquent explanations.

I am just assuming that he is (so) legit for a second. If the song is indeed intended for Ultraviolent as his message basically states, he must have signed a few things, or must have been informed about how to behave. Just look at what this message caused. We as a forum have been discussing this for multiple pages already and let's not even be so delusional to think that a very certain party of the record label pays attention to things like this. In no time at all, information will spread and it's going to be everywhere. We all know how thirsty we are for album details. I am not saying that the sudden confirmation of a song title will cause Universal to upset plans, but it will certainly make them doubt about their creative "staff." Of course there is talk, and there is a whole lot of talk between publishers and labels... if you think longterm: unless his work is so incredibly outstanding and marketable... who would want to hire him after this?

Welcome to the music industry, I say.

Had you only credited him in the description... Don't fuck with the UMG peeps!

She jokingly talked about the idea of releasing a collection of those songs entitled The Leaked Sessions in May. Who knows... maybe that idea did now turn into a collection called Ultraviolent since those songs have been ultraviolently stolen.

    I'm obviously kidding.

That might explain the ASCAP entry, yes. But I am just totally confused as to why a young songwriter with the immense opportunity of writing with/for a major act (which Lana is for Universal Music at the moment) would risk everything (I highly doubt UMG is particularly fond of song titles being announced...) because of indiscretion. I mean, he basically contacts a random fan on YouTube (not saying that you're random, really) and wants his writing contributions added. All right, a bit vain, but I'm going to let this one slide. However, randomly dropping information about a major release - now that's just... Sorry, but get a sense of professionalism.

If this is true... he's a fucking idiot. Like, this is an unreleased song that emerged somehow on the internet, and little to nothing is known about it. He's acting like his name wasn't included in liner notes of an official release. I understand his need to have his work credited, but messaging random YouTube users seems a little, I don't know, desperate?

Not sure if his repetitive mentioning of 'UMG' is due to pretentiousness or desperate emphasis on his unmentioned writing credit. Really, shame on you for not including it in your fan video on YouTube! How dare you!   Also, what about Alexander Stoden? Not important enough to be credited as a writer in your video, as implied by Mr Co-Writer Out of Nowhere?

    Then again:

    Basically this, yes.

I wonder if he sent this exact message to the ASCAP...
