Big Eyes & I Can Fly Removed From Spotify
graham4anything replied to Say Yes to Heaven's topic in Lana Thoughts
The entire Big Eyes movie was #metoo perfect. Showing what a despicable man does to keep a woman down, and the freedom the woman won Lana's two songs are perfect and keeping with the political affirmation of #metoo Two great songs. No filler. Why is it off Spotify? as of a few days ago, one had to update everything on spotify. Germany for a few hours had the correct idea....it reamins to be seen whether that shall be implemented. May that filthy degenerate rapist drunk posing as a nominee for lifetime judge in the USA be denied, and may his kids forever have to live with the horror of what their "perfect" dad did. Oh what a tangled web trump weaved. -

in general- Not if a person won't take no for an answer Sometimes a clean immediate break is the only way out prior to having dire consequences happen. (and I bet many social workers who deal with this type of thing would agree). -

Ms. Grant should duet with Elton (Mariner's Apartment Complex/Someone saved my life tonight) Elton as head of record company, and as one of the biggest music fans in history, and supporter of new music literally stole 3 Grammy's for the inferior E.S. last year (and possibly one of Lana's in the process.) (though ES is now too big for Elton and went to someone else). Without Elton he wouldn't have won those awards, and possibly wouldn't have even been heard.) after all, the piano/organ useage in contemporary music is only around now thanks to Bach then Elton, etc. And in progressive music of which Elton (his first 2 albums)came prior to the progressive era of later groups. Interesting too- the official sanctioned recent video to "Tiny Dancer" has some similarities to Mariner's video. (in a way that "Ride" Video had similarities to Roy Orbison's "A love so beautiful" (and both were from Rick Rubin). (and "A love so beautiful is one of the top songs I would love Lana to do). Roy died shortly after making it, and IMHO should have been the 1st single he released instead of "You got it") I can't believe some here do, can you? It's almost stalking technical note- (this was suppose to be a separate post but it combined, is there a time limit between quoting for a different post? -

the new album is going to be 100%Lana (like Dan & Ultraviolence) and 0% Jack. It's as if he isn't even in that room. It is all 100%Lana but kudos to Jack for piggybacking off of her. and interesting it means when the 2 wore the clone outfits, SHE comes first. It is all SHE. one Lana = 4 Beatles/George Martin one Lana=5 Beach Boys/Wrecking Crew one Lana= 3 BeeGees one Lana=2 Simon & Garfunkel one Lana is equal to Leonard Cohen -
Vince Vance and the Valients "All I want for Christmas is You" which was a year earlier, small label, and at first only sent to country stations. (and was never ever acknowledged or given any credit). The song is slower and in a different style (more like a 1960s long forgotten Bobby Vinton song(he was the singer though not the originator of Blue Velvet). Lisa is the singer (originally different last name), now known as Lisa Layne)

Mellotron means she is again telling us the Sean/Yoko Tomorrow never came song was indeed very important. leads me to my thought that Mariners Apartment Complex is possibly going to be the "Strawberry Fields Forever" when that was released as a Double-A Side with the inferior (though sugar sweet and instantly catchy "Penny Lane" that showed John to be the one that made the Beatles immortal & how important George was (he was the Soul). -
Why not just play it as is then play a couple of her old songs, then play it again which then achieves more. (and doesn't let those other artists piggyback off of her). (Also while I am never too negative against other artists, there is one artist that made a surprise US release this week that is an artist I cannot stand and never in a billion years would I listen to the crap that artist has released in the past and future and that same artist makes me cringe every Christmas time with the song she outright stole from Vince Vance and the Valients. (and theirs is a zillion times better and came first) (A big shout out to Vince & Lisa) that song is yours alone.)

@@Terrence Loves Me I think I need to add the following which I think would have been obvious- IMHO Every song on any of the albums is just as good or better than the first time I heard them. There is not one song less than that, and not one song I would bypass when listening to that album. So when I say the "next one is the best one" it just keeps moving forward Mariners Apartment Complex keeps that streak going. Now I await the new album in a few months.
-
Why would I want to stream it from someones playlist when I could give 2 shits about the other songs getting credit for being played? In fact, like in elections that have vote for 2 or 3, one never should vote for a second, the best way for one specific song to go up, stay up, is specifically not play the other songs. That in effect, means a bigger than 1 to 1 ratio it becomes more productive. Simple math.

Lana to release an Album & Poetry Book in 2019
graham4anything replied to Elle's topic in New Releases
Can't wait for the audio of the poetry book Can you say Grammy winner Best Spoken Word with sketches and drawings by Chuck and then a movie of the book -
I somewhat disagree here- Leonard's I'm your man was from circa 1988. But Leonard was always political, but like Lana, like Simon, like Lennon & Harrison, was not necessarily overt about it. In a sense, Lana Del Rey character in Born to Die and Video Games also would do anything to please (in that sense) and the inner fight after that culminating in Elizabeth winning by the end of Ultraviolence and Honeymoon and breaking away. Now also, both are speaking metaphysically anyhow As for the interviews- I always view all the interviews as distractions, redherrings and some well placed Macguffins. And in her songs, the 2/3 1/3 also applies. I believe like in Lust for Life she is speaking to the ones listening and in reality, if there is or isn't an actual male person is 100% irrelevant. It is ambiguous anyhow. (Much like I myself believe "Watching the Boys" refers to the playas and musically "boys" were those making music. ------------------------- I read a review of Paul McCartney's new album somewhere yesterday...(and note I am a Lennon fan not a Paul fan) and someone asked, is there anyone else who has been doing it since 1958. (and yes, there are others like Paul Simon, Like Leonard prior to his passing, etc.) But IMHO, had Ms. Grant been around in actuality, like she is in spirit, back in 1958, I would answer that person that YES, Ms. Grant has been doing it as long as Paul McCartney. (readers might have to read this a few times). If only Lana & Leonard were equal partners from day one. (not she his muse, but 100% equal from day one, would have been quite interesting.

She is like a book or a diary...one can't pick a favorite chapter, however, the next one is always a bit better, than the last one so one would have to say my favorite album is the years down the road (and one never wants to when reading a book to go backwards, because one can't wait to go forward) And it was the revelation that SHE was documenting/recording/seeing/writing from say the Video Games video and was the one filming it, as opposed to making fun or being the person itself. It all makes sense in retrospect down that same road but the viewer might not realize it and I believe it is somewhat frustrating for her when she sees that some are not getting it, and some want her to remain in place, miss all the clues (aka those breadcrumbs) and in each album she has reiterated what she is doing, only to have it ignored by some Same as I believe SHE was political from day one, showing the struggles of women and then having them called difficult, hard to work with (so in essence being the early documentation of the #metoo movement (but of course having that woefully ignored and having people say she was inauthentic which was just another way of putting a woman down). clues like Burnt Norton, Coachella, Don't let me be misunderstood. "You can't go home again" as Thomas Wolfe wrote, as David Lynch showed in the continuation of Twin Peaks. and remember I have been saying a lot of this for years and years now.

Upon more listens, I have noticed when she sings the words "I'm your man" it's as if The BGs BeeGees (Robin, Barry & Maurice Gibb and add brother Andy Gibb too) are singing.their breathy amazing harmonies (like in their 1971 "How can you mend a broken heart") and also a few parts have the "Space Oddity" that "Terence Loves You" in the linear "Honeymoon" and also these references place this in the 1968-1971 age (where had she been there, she would have had at least 20 USA top 10s already) One Lana = 4 Beatles, 3 BGs, 2 Simon & Garfunkel & Brian & the Wrecking Crew harmonies (but most notably,NOT the Wall of Sound Spector like Ultraviolence had (which SHE has stated she is most uncomfortable with that lyric) So a message in what is and is not there. (note-technical board wish- I wish this board had a 'save to journal' button so one had a place where thoughts as they are occurring could be all in one place).

Norman Fucking Rockwell - Pre-Release Thread
graham4anything replied to Elle's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
Hearing full version I hear 100% Elizabeth Grant (Lana Del Rey) and 0% Jack. But hey, I heard Ultraviolence as 100% Elizabeth Grant (Lana Del Rey) and 0% Dan (and Dan said it was 100% Lana). A great continuation tbc -
Wasn't that what High By The Beach is

SHE=HE The single best song since and the continuation since Coachella Leonard Cohen would be 84 years old Sept.21 #1 on the best New Alternative iTunes #3 Alternative iTunes Rising to #17 on the 100 iTunes (all as of 6pm eastern 3pm Pacific). The urgency in the full song is = Coachella (with a dash of LOVE thrown in) reminding again of Full Norton & Don't let me be misunderstood and would love a duet/mash-up with Elton John Mariner's /Someone saved my life tonight with both singing "And butterflies are free to fly Fly Away So fucking high away Bye-Bye (or Empty Garden or dare I say IMAGINE?) Is this the Best Song Ever? the streak continues She once again is talking metaphysically to those kiddies to stick around and continue the RIDE. btw, I hear 100% HER I hear 0% Jack.

Candle in the wind is a phrase always associated with Elton John, first as an album cut in the early 1970s, (it was not a single origianally in the USA), later as a live single from Australia in 1980s and then the new Princess Diana version after her death. (Elton/Bernie of course when one refers to Elton as Bernie writes the lyrics) Yosemite as a song title (totally different song) was used and charted by Travis Scott a few weeks ago, making that title for her now obsolete To me the song is very Elton John like (of course almost everything can be traced back to Elton and JS Bach before him Interesting too is IMHO using the phrase in a no longer a candle in the wind is further removing herself from the Marilyn image and therefore Elizabeth is further removed (as Honeymoon and the Lust for Life showed) from Lana Del Rey So it shows how important Coachella was on Lust for Life to where she is today Sept.2018 and the waves in the vid, remind me of the recent tour live Pretty when I cry (which was only truly seen when watching it on the screens and not if one was focused on her at the concerts, for those that were in the audience.

What a great day President Obama showed again what a real President is, in his great speech. Jail time for one of trumps assholes, and Chuck is directing a new Elizabeth Grant song. Very Elton John and references Candle in the Wind too Wonder if the Port Chester NY location is what the song references?

Lana Del Rey Born to Die Billboard Chart Immortality
graham4anything replied to graham4anything's topic in Charts & Sales
OP updated for the Sept. 8, 2018 chart Holding at 313 weeks Born To Die is #19 pn the Alternative Album chart, now 205 weeks on that top 25 chart Born to Die is #45 on the Rock Album Chart, now 214 weeks on that top 50 chart Lana's song with Cat Power debuts this week at #33 on the Triple A chart. (triple a means Adult Alternative rock Songs) -
if people don't listen to an artist then they don't listen plenty of people in the world plenty of artists for people to listen to on the other hand, any publicity is good publicity as someone once said, perhaps Lana should do like Dua did and right now release an updated Born to Die and get it back on the top part of the charts. btw- Lana should get rid of all negative comments from her social media, and only allow positive comments more than anything negativity kills just about as much as guns do
-
forgot to add- I do believe Lana was threatened with harm by some one or some faction and that indeed it was not safe to perform at this time. again, the peace is not wanted by one side specifically who wants to get rid of entirely the other side I do believe Israel would not have threatened Lana with bodily harm had she appeared in concert in a different place. Regardless of one loving or hating the far right leader Bibi (and I am not a fan, I would prefer a Rabin) Some people just don't want peace. (Witness the assassination of John Lennon as an example).(glad his killer was not paroled)

I agree 100% with this. Palestine and Hammas the terrorist group (spelling wrong because I don't want it googled) want Israel and Jews to disappear (not to mention Fundamental Christians also don't give a shit about Jews, but need them for the biggest conspiracy theory of all time they believe in Palestine has many times refused peace including when Arafat himself wanted peace during Bill Clinton's time, yet his people refused it The tunnels built were to bring in weapons to kill Jews and not used in peace like an underground railroad in the US Hammas doesn't want rights for LGBT, doesn't want rights for Women, etc. (and neither does the fundamentalists that trump in the US forces to act the way they do, including the (of hundreds) impeachable moment just this weekend saying justice should not be looking into any Republican. So I agree with this piece 100%. Jews do not wish the death of Palestine, but the reverse is sadly not the case. Hammas and the old PLO indeed do, as does Syria, as does some in other nations in the Mid-East. And never to forget- the land itself historically was theirs. The Palestine people came later.
