Whatever Jack does, it sounds like FUN which means one has to go and listen to Dexy's as everything FUN sounds like was stolen from Kevin Rowland them. Perhaps Lana should sing a Johnny Ray song.....Poor old Johnny Ray.... though a duet with Louis Armstrong would be FUN too. (He actually did the Lazenby Bond song didn't he!) (We have all the time, in the world, time enough...) So go on and C-a-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y there would be no music at all if not for Louis Duke Bing and Edith (and Lana) -

@@CatchTheBreeze @lernerdelrey @ anyone else First, most posters here, all the times I brought up Twin Peaks 2017, many here said they were bored by it, didn't have patience nor understanding of the masterpiece Mr. Lynch drew, and the reason it is so wonderful Mr. Lynch won an Emmy nomination for Sound. Because sound was everything from the first second, to the final end credit. Where it was the Sound of Silence. While casually one would think Lana and David Lynch should colab, in fact the two while they are in the same universe, however, not in the same neighborhood at the same time and never do meet. (and one only sees this after Honeymoon and Lust for Life and after watching ALL episodes of Twin Peaks 2017 without missing one. (and why no one was able to binge it, nor should anyone binge it in the future, it needs to be watched as Mr. Lynch wanted it to be heard (and seen). With a week off after Episode 8, the single greatest episode in any visual medium anywhere at anytime. Lana is water and water is cleansing, the way to cleanse from the abuse documented by Elizabeth in her documentaries and poems posing as albums David is the nightmare that is inland, never any water, never any cleansing, never waking up in the same place one started. And never knowing where one is, when they reach the place they think they reached. Elizabeth knows now to stay. And no longer run. But stay and fight. Being asked first to sing at the Leonard tribute was far more important than a collab with Bond or Lynch. (but yes, Lana did Blue Velvet much better than Bobby Vinton's hit). That is neither here nor there.

I would like to see Elizabeth Grant do a cameo in each of the Elizabeth Grant presenting Lana Del Rey broadway musicals that one day will happen in chronological order and each one nominating and winning the Tony award.(on her way to being a EGOT) (Emmy Grammy Oscar Tony) with perhaps Vice President Lin Manuel Miranda doing the music and choreo

It's amazing how little kiddies know about the recording industry. anyhoo- the Good life- just a quick excert from wiki- "The Good Life" (originally "La Belle Vie" in French) is a popular song by Sacha Distel and 1934 born composer Jack Reardon, published in 1962. It was featured in the movie Seven Capital Sins. The song is best known in the English-speaking world as a 1963 recording by Tony Bennett. He gained a number 18 hit on the U.S. pop singles chart with it; it also became one of his rarer UK Singles Chart hits, making it to number 27 there. "The Good Life" became one of Bennett's staple songs, and was featured on four of his top-selling albums, including 1994's MTV Unplugged: Tony Bennett and 2006's Duets: An American Classic, the latter featuring Billy Joel. Bennett also named his 1998 autobiography after the song. As of 2009, he still performs the song live and often jokingly dedicates it to Britney Spears. In 1973, the song was released by Julius La Rosa as a single 45 record on vinyl, with "Save Me a Song" on side B, on RCA's Victor label. See: RCA Records. It became a hit at Metromedia radio station WNEW, 1130 on the AM dial, in New York City. And Julius La Rosa was also a disc jockey there, playing his own song. This version of the song had slightly altered lyrics. Uniquely arranged and conducted by Hal Massimino, the biggest change was in the main lyric, where "goodbye" was replaced with "hello." A version of the song, sung by Tony Orlando, was used as the theme song of the short lived sitcom of the same name, starring Larry Hagman. Orlando's version was subsequently released on Bell Records. "The Good Life" was the theme song of the 2000 British gangster film, Gangster No. 1, and it was also employed as a 2007 jingle for a line of pet foods of the same name. The Tony Bennett version also features in the 1988 British feature film Buster, about the criminals responsible for the 1963 Great Train Robbery in Buckinghamshire. A Julie London rendition was used by British Airways in its 2008 promotion of the new London Heathrow Terminal 5 facility.

Prediction- this duet will make this Chan's biggest album ever. -
Born to Die just got its 512th week- 6 FULL YEARS on the Billboard200 album chart which was not even released when she did SNL, one of the very few artists EVER to appear on SNL without EVER having an album released IMHO I think this was posted to show the assholes who gave her hate (and still give her hate if anyone is still putting this down and sending hate and abuse her way) that I survived. I'm still standing AND TO CELEBRATE- Here is one of the greatest videos of all time (I think at its time of release it was considered one of the Top 3 of all time- ELTON JOHN I'M STILL STANDING AND NOW LANA IS THE #1 FEMALE ALBUM ARTIST OF ALL TIME (MEANING NOT GOING FOR SINGLES, BUT WANTING PEOPLE TO LISTEN AND SAVOR THE ENTIRE ALBUM FROM CUT ONE TO THE END)

Lana should do a medley/duet with Carly Simon That's the way I always heard it should be / Video Games (Born to Die) the resignation of not being able to fulfill one's own dreams © Carly Simon- lyrics ©Jacob Brackman Music based on an old classical theme That's the way I always heard it should be" 1971 the final verse- You say we can keep our love alive Babe all I know is what I see The couples cling and claw And drown in love's debris You say we'll soar like two birds through the clouds But soon you'll cage me on your shelf I'll never learn to be just me first By myself

Did you hear what Paul Simon is doing? Wouldn't that be cool, if Lana did a total reimagining of say "Video Games" and "Born to Die" songs. Paul Simon is releasing a 10 cut brand new surprise album to coincide with his last official tour dates of songs he wanted to resing in a different form. Would love if finally Born to Die and Video Games could make the Top 10. (In the US Born to Die single didn't even chart and Video Games only got into the 90s. -
there never has been any. Nor do I expect there ever to be any Even Elton released a lot of clunkers on his albums (though at least 20 of his greatest were never singles or hits) Elvis himself had a lot of filler whereas most other singles artists release one good song and the rest of the album is 100% filler crap

How could one know Change was not political? Of course it is The opposite message of Born to Run and Born to Die She will not run away to someplace else she is saying She is saying she will Stay and Fight all that trump has taken away from America Just like Coachella is one of the greatest if not the greatest political song of all time Patriots are those who stay and fight and RESIST last thing trump's illegal occupation of the office he was placed in is patriotic. -

The Prudential Center is the same as the Garden except the Garden has more events especially that time of year. But it literally is 10 minutes away in a great area, readily available by public transportation and just across the bridge. And in Whitney's backyard so to say. and she just played 2 at Terminal 5. Amazing that she was able to do an entire arena tour. In a way, like Leonard Cohen an arena is not the optimum place to see her and a stadium is even worse. But she has outgrown small clubs and Terminal 5 was overpacked and unsafe. -

Lana NEVER played Madison Square Garden She did 2 shows at Terminal 5 that were basically warm up shows she was doing in clubs in 2017, both shows were incredible. Lana then played a sold out show at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. One of the best of a couple of dozen I have seen. The theatre at Madison Square Garden though is a great place for shows. Pet Shop Boys played there last year. as always Neil and Chris were perfect. -
Lana Del Rey Born to Die Billboard Chart Immortality
graham4anything replied to graham4anything's topic in Charts & Sales
Chart updated with the July 14 issue, the one which billboard has changed the method, and also added a new ringer- Streams are now weighted for singles much more than in the past, and the physical sale of singles, albums is much less. However- it also seems like the Hot 100 might become like the Country Charts, split in two of equal importance, with streams on the Main chart but radio which already has its own chart for Airplay on Radio becoming more important. So two consequences. We shall see. Amazing news on other charts though- Lana notches her 198 week on the alternative album chart for Born to Die (which reached #1 on the Alternative album chart) and notches her 206th week on the Rock album chart for Born to Die -

@LAman interesting if one reads that article, there is a link to another article, where Lana states she sees herself now able to just wear a gymsuit and do no rehearsal and still put on a great show without the other trappings voila it happened. ============================ and on another topic- the new method of charting was sneak previewed today, Drake has 27 songs in the 100, and billboard threw in a surprise in the new method. They also changed the weighting so that actual sales don't mean all that much, and streaming is now more important, much more important actually. that is for songs/singles. This seems to be the exact opposite of what they initially intended to do. -
the ultimate Lana Del Rey. Her version of Once upon a dream and it reminds me YES the Academy Awards does have the ability to have an Academy Award for Best Adaptation Music (i.e. the song does not have to be original, however, they haven't done it in a few years, and there has to be THREE nominees to have it. Perhaps they permanently should have two awards for music. One can look it up, plenty of major names in the industry have won best adaptation
