Lana to be featured in Elvis Documentary - The King
graham4anything replied to Elle's topic in New Releases
I want to see Elvis digitally recreate and do a duet with Lana on "Coachella" and "American" and Lana to do a whole bunch of Christmas songs, that Elvis did which is a backdoor way of having a Lana Christmas song, and then add it to Born to Die/Paradise Imagine Elvis singing the Lana Del Rey songbook it isn't hard to do he would be a natural -

@clampgirl @sugarvenom my response was directly to @terrencelovesme who on the pre-thread has been negative in about 1250 posts and who the other day put down 12, yes 12, of the 16 songs on Lust for life (then denied it, but the initals to the 12 songs were posted (though they might have been deleted after I had already seen it) Next time terrence actually likes something Lana does, please let me know. (and also in that time span terrence put down David Lynch (every second of anything Lynch ever did), and the Beatles and Elvis too. So who is negative??? (not to mention last year Terrence was one of those who put down anything about Honeymoon. I just call it as I see it. anyhow, I wouldn't mind a trio of Julien Baker and Snail Mail with Lana. I do think Julien is perhaps the best new artist since Lana, and snail mail's Lesley has the potential to also be big if they don't sell out. btw- why can't I edit that post? It truncated, and I wrote Leonard Cohen and John Lennon, Sean Lennon & Yoko in the near bottom statement but it did not show up, and I wasn't able to edit. As it's not worth the effort, I would edit out the second comment that is perceived to be negative if at a later point I can edit it. -

I would love to see an official duet that they do seems like once a year. That would be cool. The kiddies today should learn about Elvis and the Beatles (seemingly some here have zero attention span @@Terrence Loves Me comes to mind and thinks the world stopped and started with Charli something or other) makes me wonder if @@Terrence Loves Me is not that banned poster with the ugly avatar from a while back) but even a piece of a song would be great The new people plugging Elvis' catalogue are attempting to bring a brand new generation on board. As someone who saw him twice in concert and was about to see him again but he died, he never lost his voice and even at the end, put on a great show. Isn't it a shame lately Prince and Tom Petty and Elvis all were addicted to opioids and died tragically, and Elvis never had someone who was able to tell him no. If Elvis were to have still been alive, I bet he would have been a Traveling Wilbury. If the Wilbury's were still around, Lana would be a wonderful first woman to be one. It ain't bad. Lana is now part of history with Brian Wilson, Beatles, Lou Reed, David Bowie, Elvis, Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac, and they all are better for her being with them. -

It is now holding at 311 which is a shame, and those are weeks one can't get back (and now ac/dc is also back) What really should be done is to add "Young and Beautiful" and a Holiday song or too, and do so immediately there needs to be a long-term fix. tbc. -

@@Terrence Loves Me did you watch twin peaks season 3 don't you know you can't go home again which is why the rape aftermath song "13 beaches" exists. but it brings to mind a point I wanted to make, but this thread is so fuckin' damn long it would get lost here, so I will bide my time and start a thread making the point at some point. Lana is gone. Long live Elizabeth. (for reference think of the Cliff Robertson original twilight zone ) (also separate point- 24 Hours could NOT have been a Bond song, because it would not have been original (even though they do have a second Oscar category for adapted song, it is rarely used anymore and needs at least 3 nominees to work) -

I would like more political songs, like maybe a song about the genocide being done in the name of the NRA in America on the children in schools nationwide and with the NRA making money off of each dead child. Perhaps a good name for a new song "Control don't work, total ban in the streets will". btw, Honeymoon does not have one false note in it, and amazing how the words she recitates in "Burnt Norton" are so ignored by so many here who wish she would go backward (why go backward, we have those songs and nobody stops anyone from listening to them. btw, off topic in a way- in America, they have new Pepsi commercials where the ad spans generations of Pepsi. Too bad in another time and place, Lana was not part of this ad, can you imagine on nationwide tv so many times a day "My pussy tastes like pepsi cola) could be seen. Someone call Pepsi. (note- this is not satire, obviously in the minds of the far right led by Pence the nothingburger, in a million years, can you imagine it happing? -
Looking back it was the first now of many cases of abuse that came from the stable of the Misogynist NBC and was totally bullying. Like Lyin' Brian Williams who gave that simply horrendous abusive tweet (and to think he has his own daughter, did he ever once think what if someone had done that to Allison, how would he have felt. and what really tied it all together in regards to Misogynist is how a few weeks later Sam Smith (equally as unknown) went on the show and did 100% of the exact same thing Lana did (was Sam parodying Lana?) yet he got 100% adoration and love from SNL and the show's low-level 15 year old boys that watch it. SNL as a whole has a history of abusing women, perhaps the only two who made it were Tina and Amy, and both have their horror stories from the show and how they were not wanted nor welcome by the other writers much of the time. That said, without SNL, I don't believe Lana would have been the trendsetter, iconic future Rock and Songwriters Hall of Famer that she became and one thing is for sure, she was live.

@@Terrence Loves Me post 16136 So, even if you personally hate 12 of the 16 songs, guess what that means you love 4 songs from the album, which is 3 more than most people usually care about 100% of every other artist in existence. (for example- I am still waiting for the 2nd great song from Joan Osborne (What if God was one of us is perhaps the best female solo single of the 1990s along with What's Going on by a band, 4 Non-Blondes) and a 3rd great song from the legendary Christina Perri -

Dua is English, young and exotic looking. A 3-fer. More times than not, someone from England gets the soundtrack anyhow. Besides, Bond is antiquated, sexist, misogynist and is totally politically incorrect. Not to mention totally right-wing and wrong for all the reasons that it is 2020 in a trump world. Time for a female Bond. Would love to see Gal Gadot or Daisy Ridley as Bond Spectre sucked (and totally wasted Christoph Waltz And speaking of not looking good- Craig used to look as great as Steve McQueen, now look at him, looks as pudgy and old as can't get it up Putin -
Lana Del Rey Born to Die Billboard Chart Immortality

@slang Remember, the industry made everyone get rid of their vinyl and buy cds (and then better cds) and now when they release vinyl it is at a deluxe price in limited editions so of course, it is about the money to the record companies any way one looks at it -
Lana Del Rey Born to Die Billboard Chart Immortality
graham4anything replied to graham4anything's topic in Charts & Sales
@SLANG it is though, a business, and geared toward the business and the line nowadays is even thinner, what with both IHeart and Billboard having their own concerts/fests and award shows, which in turn gives far more exposures to those that win those awards and support Iheart (and the despicable Ryan Seacrest), much like at the end of each year, when they do the countdown shows, once again those that had the biggest singles, get reexposed/ exposure giving those commercial artists the one-up. Not going for singles also hurts an artist-oriented singer/act in that "the summer song of the year" only goes to that song that was the biggest on the singles chart, not necessarily the best summer song of the year, or the biggest artist. So, no, the charts are not meant per se to the artist (and the record company is the one who has to request/pay for the audit of the RIAA to officially get the Gold/platinum record designations (of which Born to Die has now sold 1.55million which is triple platinum but the designation don't appear until the record company officially does what they need to do As for the new system, when Lust for life was released Lana far and away had the most sales, but under the old system(current) it enabled the other two albums to be the cause to delay that chart for a week what with their attempt to manipulate. That being true, Lana should have an advantage for the new album when it comes out, unless other major artists also release. (Used to be there was an orderly release schedule known in advance that everyone kept to and played by the rules. but "used to bees don't count anymore" as Neil Diamond wrote and sang. -
Without religion, there would be no prejudice or war. Life would be great. Instead of the fake belief that there is an afterlife, perhaps people would strive to do their best in this life as that is all one gets. Of course now that we know the ulterior motive of Musk and Bezos, people shortly will no longer be needed for anything at all. (and the self driving cars have now aimed at and taken out two living human beings) and people think they can co-exist with flowing lava they are taking selfies with And the Met Gala is a bunch of adults playing like little kiddies make believe dress up, except the costumes are millions of dollars and the Jewels are real, and no one but a gadzillionaire could afford them. indeed Beautiful people with their beautiful problems (don't mind me, look what Susan Sarandon, Ralph Nader, Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein did and caused, all in the name of whatever religion the both sides are the same assholes have which is a true cult. Thank God Dennis Kucinich lost yesterday, as did other Bernie candidates, as Bibi is going to blow up the world because he has no one to stop him now, only the treaty was able to stop him). Imagine. It was more than a song. (now I'm singing with Sean) (note- the line about Bibi is not anti-Semitism , just anti-Bibi, who only got back in office by making a deal with the Neo-Nazis, actual Nazi's and other deplorables that caused the death of 6 plus million Jews and millions of others who were different. Surely there is someone who in the next election in Israel will defeat him. How many terms does he get?

a quick question as every single thing on these insanely long thread have been proven as false that means the EDM angle is not true either, doesn't it? So the only actual fact is folk/Americana/Country is true. (or will it be a mix of dance/country?) but as I said on the Met Gala thread, everytime music is imminent, Lana is in NYC shortly before, to dot the I's and cross the T's with the powers that be. Lord Grange (he actually has been knighted), is being honored with induction at the Songwriters Hall of fame in NYC, the party ceremony is in June...perhaps that is a date to look for? -
Interesting thought to me is- every single time she is about to release new music, she hits NYC (which means less noise than when in California) and new music drops shortly afterwards every time.

or a Matraca Berg song "Lying to the Moon" (which has been on hold for years and Matraca herself was never allowed to release her own song as a single because TPTB wanted her songwriting but not her to be a star herself. Nashville can be quite cruel) like in many Lana songs one fees the pain in every breathe -

this somewhat helps explain things on the new system Billboard will have starting in July 2018 http://m.hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=311689 (note- anything highlighted or in caps is from the writers of this article, the bible is how the industry refers to Billboard charts)- ©HITS) WEIGHTS AND MEASURES Biz-watchers wonder about the potential impact of the Bible’s decision to rejigger the weighting of streams for its charts. With ad-supported streams (3,750:1) slated to have 1/3 the value of subscription streams (1,250:1), the project totals for releases relying heavily on the free tiers will decline. YouTube views will continue to be factored into the Hot 100 but not the Top 200. Ad-supported streams account for 23% of the combined Spotify-Apple total and 33% of all Spotify streams, while Spotify premium and Apple contribute 48% and 29% of combined streams, respectively. With the changes, paid-only services would see an increase; services with both paid and ad-supported tiers could see a net reduction in SEA if ad-supported streams exceeded 25% of their total. It would appear that most releases will see a 5-10% spike in first-week numbers, as paid streams tend to predominate in the early weeks of release; this will boost everyone’s numbers. Both Apple and the rights holders believe the changes are a step in the right direction. -
@@Cupido they are NOT yours to begin with to barter with or gift with Just because there were bootleggers that sold illegal copies does not mean anyone else can forward that illegally gotten item Its counterfeit like money- if one gets a counterfeit bill, and a store sees it, they confiscate it, and the person passing it has no recourse to recover no matter how they got it Also- it is possible that officially the royalties would go to the proper owners under the "Willow Smith Whip my hair" instance where regular people posted their own versions, one would need to ask a copyright lawyer (who is different than any other type of lawyer) More important though- it is abusing Ms. Grant, and will make her reconsider release and might mean certain songs never see the light officially, thereby screwing every single person. (Black beauty and others in the past.) Even more important- one going on this public board and announcing @@Cupido what you are doing (and others) who obviously must be the ones doing it on Spotify in the first place, is abusing and sabatoging Lana and all her actual fans

@salp With the method of streaming changing starting in Quarter 3 (July 1) and continuing to change in Quarter 4 and then Quarter 1 of 2019 it will be interesting to find how many of those streams will count for the total amount being that free/ad streams will only count 1/3 of the total of Premium services and that actual purchase counts even more. It is entering a big field of unknowns.

**************************************************** Billboard announced today major changes in how they are going to be charting both the Hot 100 and all other song charts and the album charts including the Billboard 200. This is really important, and a major change and will start in July, with more changes in 2018 Quarter 3 and 4 into 2019 1st quarter and it will be analalized after that Perhaps there should be a separate OP explaining how the charts are done, and made each week for quick reference. Major shake-up will be that paid streams and other ways will be much more important (perhaps as much as 3 to 1) than ad-based (free) Spotify and youtube, and for now, Video stories will not be part of the mix. **************************************************** LINK AT BILLBOARD © Billboard finalizes changes to how streams are counted for the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart & BIllboard 200 album charts weekly https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/8427967/billboard-changes-streaming-weighting-hot-100-billboard-200
