maybe Lana should do a collob with Gord from The Tragically Hip..
might not get another chance, sad news today.. they have had some great songwriting- 'Gift Shop', 'Ahead by a Century', 'the Hundreth Meridian'..

Cello and strings and more strings
Harry Chapin almost always had a cello in his live band
and perhaps other Beach Boy Beatle instrumentation

as the BGs sang ©
You think that I don't even mean
A single word I say
It's only words and words are all I have
to take your breath away
© Robin, Maurice, Barry Gibb (aka the BeeGees)
Paul Simon is one of the best examples of someone who knows what his song lyrics mean, but as he wrote so cryptically :Some hear what they want to hear and disregard the rest"
ain't that the truth
But as an example- I believe since months after Born to die was released, she has played with the press in statements and interviews, to her amusement,
toying with them because of the irritant the media is. (and then played that point to the hilt in High By the Beach.
and too many still treat her a dumb girl who couldn't possibly have any brains in her too pretty little head, because after all, she is just a girl, and girls can't possibly
think (and addressed in Brooklyn Baby).
and then has to be readdressed again and again because there is still confusion as to what it is she is saying.
with the lyrics being far deeper than she is given credit for

Well if the need for a new mod comes I would be more than happy to help I love Lana more than anything in the world and I can say without a doubt that I made some of my best friends here and spent some of the happiest moments of my life and it would be an honour to give back to this community!
Edit: oh and I've been a mod on another forum for several years so I kinda now how it's like, and I spend LITERALLY every single second of my time here unfortunately

@@Flipflopfan- what prey tell, is MDM? not everyone can instantly know what initials are.
That by the way is a pet peeve I have. Sometimes I just bypass something if I can't figure it out as I believe a proper name of a song should always be posted, so people reading in, who might not be the biggest fans, might go
and listen. Someone who might not have heard a leak could not know what is inferred by having only intials. So please folks, write out the name, this ain't twitter. We are not limited to 72

To all the haters/unbelievers who said/say she wasn't genuine, this proves more than 10 years ago, indeed, Allen Ginsberg and Leonard Cohen and Phil Ochs were major influences
And that the message of the Reservations was inner peace and harmony.
Indeed, Brooklyn Baby rings true.
So why do places still today say there is no proof she was May Jailer? The proof always has been there.
One day looking forward for a Grateful Dead like 80 CD/LP box set except much larger

Ultra Violet liked a post in a topic by graham4anything in What musical direction should Lana go in for LDR5?
100% self produced, with just a little side help. More orchestrations. As much Once Upon a Dream like as possible.
Keep on keeping on with the same sound.
And keeping sure to make the entire album another concept album like Paradise, Ultraviolence and Honeymoon are.
where one needs to listen in the precise order, then listen again.
A separate box set on older and live stuff would be great, and some more one off duets that are not on the proper album, and soundtrack stuff.
all those examples people are giving above are other artists (to me meh) stuff. Why would anyone want her to copy (meh stuff) from other artists that already has been done. Lana's stuff should be the stuff other (meh) artists copy down the road when their handlers tell them they want something like Trailblazer Lana does, and not their normal (meh) stuff.

Did anyone here besides me actually go pay and see a concert of Lana's in 2015?
Lana was simply beautiful if one actually was there and near or at the front to actually look at her. (especially in the north Virignia(DC area) concert).
What is it with all this talk that she didn't look good in 2015???
I do think Lana has either quit, or cut down smoking at least 75%, and that alone will rejuvenate the skin and body.
And congratulations to legendary 4 time trailbreaking California Governor Jerry Brown for signing a new law today making it illegal to smoke until one is 21, up from 18.

If your talking about what I think your talking about. The "whale" sound is actually an Auto -Tuned Loon that was sampled lots and lots by Emile Haynie on BTD.
Hope this helps narrow down the search for you

as for stage fright- Carly Simon and John Lennon notorious for being scared to perform. Lennon would throw up before every concert or appearance.
and as for hands- ask Art Garfunkel of Simon & Garfunkel, who in 60 years, still has no idea what to do with his hands. Look at any video of the two of them singing, including the reunion concert in Central Park, and he has no idea what to do with his hands (pocket of his pants, bottom microphone, top microphone, flailing etc. Awkward as a teenager and he is in his 70s now. The other thing about SNL was, she was LIVE and SNL also is known for lousy sound (only the superbowl has worse sound.)
Live performances, I have seen her now, what 12 times? 13 times? (I am losing count). Her live performances are getting better and better.
Perhaps Video Games was not the perfect choice for first song, being that, well, it is notoriously SLOW.
Imagine if she had (but would have had no reason to do such- but if she sang Serial Killer first. Then did Video Games.
I think the critics/press were in for the kill PRIOR to her appearance and nothing she did would have gained their love (as proven by later remarks, which showed the sheer genius in going
with Dan Auerbach to produce Ultraviolence because that was one of the most genius moves in recording history- critics loved him, he himself bashed her, and it won her many points

I disagree with you on her career.
She is now at a place unique
and it was the Billboard Trailblazer award which brought her out of her depression, IMHO, and made her see she had a purpose and focus and that the way she was doing it,
was a unique and novel way of doing things (Like Adele said about how she wished she could drop an album, do some concerts then just nothing at all instead of all the bullshit

I would rather be Lana than Adele. Perhaps in 2020 Adele will release a new record. By then, we will have 5 more Lana records (figure about 75 new songs all of them great/greater/greatest)
She is doing things the biggest male superstars only have done before her, and of course, the powers that be, and the press don't like when a girl does that. They are suppose to
listen and do things they are told.
Lana is telling them in no uncertain terms- it is her way

As my take on Honeymoon is a delve into the battle between Elizabeth and Lana (make it all go away) and
the early media hatred (SNL)...SNL was the Honeymoon and it went bad from there
Somewhat like Mulholland Drive being the mirror image/4th wall breaking of Sunset Blvd.
All those comments being said about and to a person who was real and who read the comments and she is reading the hatred towards her and then some think that
would not hurt someone who is a sensitive/passionate person???
I believe the sunshine broke through in the end of the album Honeymoon with both becoming mutually acceptable to each other
looking forward for the imminent next chapter in the story... one hopes the first single will be released at the start of the summer

Saturday Night Live is a great example
There was NOTHING wrong with her performance of Video Games,
It was all put in focus when Lana Imitator Sam Smith appeared on the show
He did exactly what Lana did, with no difference (except Lana' s song was better). He stood still at the micropone by the piano and did't move
the song he sang was a lot of weeks already on the charts and people knew it better
Plus, he was a guy (who made his first noise keeping name dropping Lana
the lunacy of NBC's Brian Williams (lying Brian as he was fired shorty thereafter) tweeting the horrible thing he did (and his daughter is Alison Williams of Girls, and who stunk up the joint
as Peter Pan )
Lana don't need NBC or any media. They should go fuck themselves.
and most people saw it for what it was. Sheer abuse and anti-women. From NBC (the network that had for decades woman hater Donald Trump on their payroll and made him millions,
and he made them billions). .

@@PARADIXO- actually, there is no song I dislike, especially no song I hate.
Which is the most amazing thing about Lana. Artists I have constantly listened to historically had clunkers (Elton John used to have three or four "filler" songs on his most popular albums, the Beatles had some shitty songs, Pet Shop Boys, Kate Bush had many songs I simply could not listen to more than once. But honestly, cannot say there is any song like that on any of Lana's stuff.
No filler. No shit.
Just going from all her "Lana Del Rey" product-
Didn't think she would do better than BTD then Paradise upped it (and I consider Paradise a stand-alone LP not
Didn't think it was possible to up Paradise and then Ultraviolence came along
Once upon a Time, unbelievable
Didn't think in no way Ultraviolence would hit me like it did but it floored me
and no way in hell could she make it even more with Honeymoon but she continued besting herself again and again and again
some of the songs took a little longer to get on Honeymoon (24 Hours, but once I got it, and put it in the meaning, it turns out to be one of the most
important songs ("If you lie down with dogs you'll get fleas". Her vocals on that blow me away.
But same on all the songs.
Indirectly was having a conversation with someone today who had in the background a mix of Simon and Garfunkel songs and he (who is not familiar with Lana)
said no one makes harmonies anymore like S&G did.
I said he was wrong...I said there is one-
Lana has from day one had that harmony and the best thing is- it is all her, all her own vocals layered, as if she was S&G, the Beach Boys, Elton John (whose
songs in the 1970s all had great harmony by his own band (Davey Johnston, Dee Murray, Nigel Olssen and guest studio singers).
Lana's vocals in general, on the entire Honeymoon album, the bridges, etc. are Roy Orbison like opera like.
(someone else a few pages back said WRONGLY, her voice was small...no it is opera like but she sometimes is singing softly (as if she is singing to herself only, and those listening are just eavesdropping on her private moments
that's my opinion on it.
Sorry for not seeing your response sooner.
and btw, her original Summertime Sadness song, first thing I thought when I heard that was
Nancy Sinatra's Sugar Town (Sh-sh-sh-sh-sh-sh Sugar Town). Summertime Sadness is a fuller, better song.
