I love the way she sings the word Pleasurable
I have been a big Pet Shop Boy fan since Day 1, and Neil Tennant over the years sang words like no one else until Lana came along
Check the way he sings Vulnerable  in the same titled song
Many of the PSB songs are very dark

(one day would love a Lana / Pet Shop boy duet)

The highly literate song "being boring" is very how do you say Lanaesque in its symbolism

If Lana does TV, how great would it be if she was the first guest singer or first week, on the new Steve Colbert show in September.
I would assume she never wants to have anything to do with NBC again (especially as they are keeping internet bully Brian Williams who said that awful thing about her), so that would
take away Fallon and Meyers and the Today Show.

CBS where she had the very successful Letterman appearance would seem like a great fit. And everyone is going to be watching Colbert the first week he is on

If the timing is right, and someone high up thinks of doing this, and if Colbert's booker is cool and hip, it would be perfect

as with everything she does, sounds good to me.
And the storyline continues...I do think Honeymoon is not going to be a happy honeymoon, and I myself thought the tour name Endless Summer was being misinterpeted
Not an endless tour, but Summer as a season of life, and now as she turns 30, she soon will be  entering the poetic last days of summer and first days of Fall/Autumn, and the realities of life.
The maturity shown in the stage shows, and the full dominance/mastering of the stage itself this time, (am I the only one to once again think Lana is now as potent on stage as say
Robert Plant but I mean vocally, not the way Robert runs all over the stage),  as opposed to past concerts, the more knowing, the more playful, the more smiles, etc.

I almost think that is why Lana did Serial Killer. Do hope Serial Killer is put on the album or a bonus track on some configuration.
(Can we hope that the extra studio time is to insert some more songs or bonus songs, like a new mix of Serial Killer?

I wonder, if the album is surprised release at a moments notice, how will that effect bundled purchases (which normally are purchased in advance), and also the vinyl box.

Can't wait for the full song. I expect it to be coming out shortly.
(now back to catching up on more posts missed the last two/three weeks. At least 30 more pages in the other Honeymoon thread to go.)

Hey everyone...after 6 or was it 7 shows and 2 weeks away since I last posted the night of the Governors Ball (didn't the board go down right after that?), I got 40 pages to catch up on this thread and others

Just read an interesting article on how the timing of the Billboard charts is happening next week so all the more strategy is going into place in getting a new release to #1.
(Now it will be Friday new album release day instead of Tuesday
and the new charts will be revealed Tuesday instead of Thursday starting in 2 weeks.

Then one has to find a week where no one else who is big is releasing a new one (and hope no one who is big also does a surprise release

And what a few weeks it has been in America.

Hey if finally 100 years too late they can remove all the Confederate Flags in America anything in the world one dreams is possible.  (now back to catching up ...I am on page 179 of 218.)

She was suppose to end at 1030 and did. She started 915 and ended 1030 as schedule.
and she smiled a bunch of times . Don't recall on stage her doing that last year.
And thanked the crowd after Video Games before going into the last song.

She played the allotted time she was scheduled to play.
Don't believe the negativity. Probably weren't even at the show.

    Just got back.
If I had to guess, I would say there must have been 40-50,000 or more people watching Lana. The entire area and more was wall to wall.

It's going to be a packed week with Boston and DC coming up.

The weather was weird for June.
It was really hot in the afternoon, but got really cold waiting for her to go on, then it got hot again.

Great set too btw, and band sounded great.

Really great Serial Killer, Video Games, Shades of Cool, Ultraviolence, Chelsea, and especially Brooklyn Baby
Lana looked great in a sort of NY Yankee shirt.

more tomorrow   One other thing- every act was on time and played the allotted time specified in advance.

Only bad thing was that food was nowhere near where Lana played, nor in any of the VIP tents. Drinks/sodas yes. And the walking was forever from the ferry to the entrance (and back) and from one end to the other.
Also, could not find any Lana items for sale except for the Endless Summer shirt, and the Governors Ball shirts..

I was reading a couple of weeks ago, that the estate of Nina Simone and some of the family members have renewed a rights squabble and that it might mean problems
for what was a simple allowing of songs being sung and recorded by other artists.
This has nothing directly to do with Lana, excepting for the fact that Lana announced Don't let me be misunderstood as being on her Honeymoon album prior to this rights fight among heirs
and lawyers of Simone's property rights companies.
While Nina didn't write it, the three people credited wrote it for her.
Wonder if anyone here knows about whether the fight could affect it being allowed to be used.

Also, could it be possible if there was a problem, that Lana was then going to use the Peggy Lee song (which she sang in the first show this year) that was used in Roger Rabbitt in place of Misunderstood?

Again, the rights fight has nothing to do with Lana at all specifically, unless it stops all artists from using any of her songs.

Lorde is a publicity hound. She loves being in the spotlight
Yet she only had one album where all during the run-up to it, she name dropped Lana a million and one times then after she made it, seemed never to mention her again
(used her then tossed her out like most people in Lana's life), Lorde just fired her management and is dating one person after another in the public eye ala Taylor Swift.
The comparison is what??? No one will remember Lorde a few years from now. So she is using her Andy Warhol 15 minutes of fame as long as possible.
When she sings a song about Royals and then has a hit, much like the Clash found, whining about not having becomes hard to do when the public knows they know have. That is the problem
Lorde has. Also, she is not unique so there is nothing overly special about her. She acts like she is a younger Lindsay Lohan.

Leave them wanting more, the most successful entertainment slogan ever.

as for the comment on Stevie Nicks- money is relative to someone like Stevie Nicks or Elton John when one lives expensive one needs more money than the average person.
They say Elton spends $50 grand a month on flowers. More than most people make in a year. His prerogative to do so, So in his older age he is still touring all the time in arenas
and will do so even when cutting back, and he has hundreds of songs he wrote that royalties come in.
Mike Nesmith of the Monkees always refused to do a long time reunion with the others because he was rich off his mother's invention of wite-out. Mom died, times changed, no one needs
wite-out anymore and after Davy Jones died, Mike immediately re-upped with the Monkees and now does autograph signings to rake in the bucks. Where was Mike when Davy was alive, and Mickey and Peter could have used the big money for a real reunion? (Nothing wrong with money, but it's all relative to the individual.) imho

    Money.
People seem to forget, Lana does not need money. So she does not need to tour nor make money from merchandise and doesn't live the life of a celebrity (press 24/7/365).
Not needing money frees people who are creative to do as they wish and not be beholden to, money making ventures solely for the sake of money

The artists listed above for the most part, all need to make millions to sustain their celebrity life style where they waste millions of dollars in a cycle (Britney Spears, etc. And yet, with all the costume changes in her act, constantly there are reports she lip syncs the whole show, making it more like one of the tribute shows or circus shows using a stars music.

Lana doesn't need the money (and there is nothing wrong with her having money.) Stevie Nicks needs money so she sucks it up, reunites with Fleetwood Mac and they tour together, much
like the Eagles do, who hate each other but rake in 100s of millions to sustain their lifestyles (nothing wrong with that, it is how they need to bring in money and do so to do so)

I think for instance, let's use Kate Bush as an example- Kate disappeared for basically a decade or two, hasn't toured since 1979, barely ever toured to begin with, came to America I think only 3 times
(had the pleasure of meeting her each time she was here), hates to fly and it takes a long time on a boat.

She comes back (was it because people like Lana have claimed her territory?) or did she need money? Fame or money, there had to be a reason (most likely both, and most likely not only the money coming in for the shows, but Kate specifically did not allow cameras/selfies saying she wanted people to enjoy one on one the experience, but come on, obviously a life concert release will happen
(Perhaps a pay per view in the movie theatres (Fathom events in USA???) then PBS then all the other ways things are released all without leaving the UK

Yet no word on whether or not she will ever do any more concerts especially any outside of England. It seems doubtful.

Personally, I prefer seeing a singer singing and if I want to see a show, I go to Broadway and see one there. Seems Kate Bush did 1/2 the show in a performance piece with helicopters fish and water and drowning etc. But that is not concert. That is show. And she ignored every single song that got people to like her in the first place. (it would be equal to Lana not singing any single song from anything she has so far done, and will do the next five years). I do think that was a slap in the face by Kate Bush to those that spent thousands worldwide to attend the one and only place she was singing at. Most of which bought the tickets prior to having any idea what she was doing. (but she had costume changes and a stage show, oh boy!)(sarcasm)

Last time I really cared about costume changes was Elton John at the height of his popularity and seeing how outrageous his next one would be. (The entrance in 1976 MSG in NYC dressed as the Statue of Liberty has to be the greatest, no one can top that along with dressing as Donald Duck in his Central Park NYC show).

as for length, if Lana did 2 more songs, people would want 3 more. If she did 10 more songs, people would want 20 more.
How does the saying go? It's not how long it is...

I heard Brian sing it on Jimmy Kimmel (saw the youtube of the show).
Personal lyrics only make sense to Brian. Totally out of context for someone else to sing this song as it is a specific and nasty reference at that to the other living members of the Beach
Boys who Brian perceives to have screwed him for money. (Mike Love owns the rights to the touring as the Beach Boys name, and when they reunited last, Brian was fired by Mike
and Mike said he was only a hired hand. Imagine that.

One day it would be nice for the two to duet on a more appropriate song.
Lana is a big fan of the Beach Boys, and the Beach Boys evoke a positive mind frame. This song is a slow, sad negative bitter song.

    Keep the customer wanting more.
And for the relatively cheap price of the tickets (the GA tickets are some of the cheapest for a major star), one is more than getting their money worth.

Gordon Lightfoot never did encores and shows were always short.

And many of the songs are long, so basically 13 longer songs=25 songs if the songs were all three minutes.
The show is compact. Non stop. No encore, but no waste of 20 minutes waiting for someone to come back for the encore and the waste of time of changing clothes while
the backup singers and band perform.

Also, it is not stadiums or arena, where the majority of the names you listed are playing longer shows.

The Beatles played if lucky, about 30 minutes on their first couple of tours, and really, this is only Lana's 2nd US tour.
Most 1960s artists in their prime played short shows.
And Pet Clark and Nancy Sinatra didn't even do an hour at their solo shows.
And many also do medley's of five or six songs strung together.

it is going to be considered one of the best of the 2000-2025 period and all time.

Maybe years from now, someone is going to make a Broadway Musical out of it, and then a movie out of it (or the reverse).
While it most likely won't star Lana, it will be her Tony Award winner.

And be considered perhaps in a trilogy of Sunset Blvd/Mullholland Drive & Ultraviolence. The prior two really about American culture Hollywood etc.

    @@alltoowell and @@theeternalstars

    The difference is-
The record people now say, Get me or find me a Lana Del Rey type but make her commercial (or in the Sam Smith case make him more commercial)
Then make sure the new people or the remolded older people namecheck Lana until it hits, then ignore her afterward
So Lana Del Rey became the new prototype

Just like Madonna was after Madonna, get me a new younger Madonna soundalike dress alike without Madonna baggage so to say

and having worked country music in the 80s/90s it happened there when the "New country" came in.
It wasn't that the sounds of the prior to 1989 superstars were no longer wanted (except for a little musical background updating)
They wanted a young new Waylon Jennings and George Jones and Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette
who then namedropped George Jones and Johnny Cash

and then George Strait and Garth Brooks came in
and the record people said Get me a new Strait and a new Brooks and drop check their names and 100 hat acts came along saying they grew up on Waylon and George Strait
Or get me 100 more Shania Twain after she came out

So now you have many more commercial Lana's out there, all get more radio airplay, and all are faceless and will disappear soon as the radio people want something else

    Which leaves Lana being Lana.
As someone asked before NO I don't want nor need a stage show where it is obviously like Britney or the others lipsynched because no one can do acrobatics and sing that way.

I just want the singer to sit or stand and sing the songs that drove me to go out of my way, spend money to buy the cds and vinyl and download and concert tickets at full price
as often as possible and don't need a million costume changes. I didn't come for the clothes anymore then anyone on stage came to look at me.

Yes, I will still be there if she was no longer young and beautiful . And yes I will run run run to the appropriate places to download and purchase the vinyl/cd
and come come come to the concerts and listen or sing along even if it means driving 6 hours to Virginia or 4 hours to Boston or spending an entire day on Randall's Island in NY
to see a 915 performance. I would not be going there if she were not performing. Note to Florence or Marina fans, I am not going Friday or Saturday with them performing.
Kudos to their fans for doing such.

Kudos to every artist who is singing. But in music history there are only a handful of unique people and in the 2000-2020 days two of those are Lana and Gaga.
    With a few more.

Hope she sings a new Honeymoon song at Governor's ball, but I won't be disappointed if she doesn't. Would want a full band performance of it and not a snippet without the band.
But I understand there are logistics and rights and all that.
And I look forward for each chapter of the long running book that is Lana.  (and if there are those that don't like what I said, there is the ignore button)
