I'm excited for new music from her but I'd rather her wait, take some time for herself, work hard on the next album but at a healthy pace, and release something she's genuinely proud of and loves. Thats how we got her best music (True Romance).

I don't get how some people are like taken off guard by the sound/direction? We've known she's been in the studio with Wayne Coyne for months. Did no one bother to listen to a Flaming Lips song? The lyrical style/formula is literally the exact same. Catchy hooks and deep poetic lyrics aren't what the album's goal is.

I was kidding but

New single from Dear Tommy, "Shadow" coming tomorrow as a free download from Adult Swims free singles program I believe Johnny said awhile back that Shadow was the oldest song on the record and that it has been 16 years in the making

Me giving Halsey a taste of her own style-jacking medicine

If by accurate you mean consistently tinged with casual misogyny then I guess.

Kept seeing her post about this but never got around to listening to it, but I'm really excited for the full now!

Regardless, it just seems like she sent out the demo and he was like "oh this seems edgy!" and picked up and recorded it. Maybe he wrote a lot of it, but something inside tells me he isn't as involved with his songwriting as his credits let on

Bite would've fit more on that Melanie Martinez album than for this EP tbh

I'm sad no one else is bringing up how prefect/special/beautiful Lighter is (especially since she wrote it herself)

The maximum you can get on one side of a 12" is 20 minutes before you start sacrificing sound quality and most only recommend going up to 18. She could do it I guess but I'd rather her just go with the 3xLP and keep all the tracks. I'd pay whatever she charges tbh I don't even care

I dont understand him. Its (imo) pretty mediocre songwriting (which he has a questionable hand in) mixed with even more underwhelming vocals (which I can only imagine live) all drown to death in heavy electro-pop production. Something about him just feels very forced to me. I don't know if its the tumblr pandering aesthetic he's trying to work or the child actor suddenly turned singer singed to a major label, it just comes off as really unappealing to me

Got bored yesterday and made this I kinda doubt it will get any kind of physical release though because it sort of defeats the purpose of a "free release" (Also on an unrelated note, due to the length I think it'd need to be at least a 3xLP to fit all of the tracks which could get really expensive to produce)

You can get them here: http://www.discogs.com/The-Weeknd-House-Of-Balloons/release/7345600 http://www.discogs.com/The-Weeknd-Thursday/release/7378029 http://www.discogs.com/The-Weeknd-Echoes-Of-Silence/release/7380126 Although those are obviously a US pressing. Not sure if the copies headed to your store are the US pressing held up by import/export process or if they're waiting on a separate UK/Europe pressing from a plant out there (which in that case may be a lot cheaper for you)

She should take some time off. I feel like she's too worried about staying relevant/famous and its part of whats taking such a huge toll on her

My local store has them as well. The repress has already happened. House of Balloons was the only mixtape that got bootlegged

I don't think Miley's purpose is to generate buzz on this album though. This isn't your tradition pop release (if that isn't obvious). She's not pushing it because she's not making anything from it. The album isn't by design to build hype for a major label release or to generate press and sales. The album is supposed to work as a segue into Miley taking a more "serious" and hands on approach to her own music. I believe @ said this, but its meant to weed out her fan who weren't serious about her music and to further break the shell and pigeonhole that she had been put into in pop music. This is a "comeback" in the sense that while Bangerz helped break the disney image, MCAHDP serves to break the manufactured pop star image, and it does in a pretty ingenious way. I don't think people are quite understanding that theres a reason it was surprised released, theres a reason there are no singles, there a reason the album was free. Miley isn't trying to sell the public something. All of those things that you're bringing up are just marketing tools used by labels to help increase profit. By making the album free, she eliminates the need for any of that. Now granted she wants the world to know its out there (hence why she's doing SNL) but its completely removed the consumerism aspect from the equation, letting the music and artistry speak for itself. Now the point I was trying to make was that means that we're getting new music on a studio album via RCA soon because RCA is going to force her to release an album and go on tour in the near future, however, they don't need to worry about this being "forgotten" because of lack of promotion because the RCA album will be promoted heavily regardless and the "buzz" this has received already is enough to add major credibility to whatever release she is putting out next. I was merely stating that this being an independent releases meant were still due for a major label album soon.

Roman Holiday is such a bop. I hope they try to push it to radios, I think it'd have a chance of catching on if it gets picked up

RCA doesn't own any of the rights to this music. Miley funded and made this album primarily in her garage if i remember reading correct. There was no expensive studios, no A&R, no label advance to fund it. It doesn't count towards her contract with them. There was no buzz for the album because her label had nothing to do with it. It was Miley's own project that she wrote/co-wrote and co-poroduced herself with Wayne & Mike. She wanted to realized for free because I genuinely think she believes she has enough money and doesn't need to charge for doing something she loves (Wayne has always been like this). This album is not an era like traditional albums. Miley isn't going to tour it, she isn't promoting it, because she's not trying to make money off of it, she's just doing what she loves. RCA is now going to use this album and the VMAs as a piggyback to start slowly promoting her for a new era (album & tour). Mike Will Made-It is on record as saying the new stuff she's making sounds like a countrified Lana, meaning that we possibly haven't even heard the best songs from this project because they're being saved for the next real album. It's very likely that we'll get something new from Miley in the next year (if not next 6 months).

So is no one going to talk about what this free album means? RCA has to make its coins, we have to be getting another studio album soon (within the next year).
