Just started getting into her and Jerome and Hunnie Pie are so good. Jerome kind of reminds me of Banks / Lykke Li and Hunnie Pie is just great.

The demo version of BP is beyond overrated Yeah, the lyrics are nice but I don’t necessarily think they’re better than the final. Also the mixing and vocal delivery makes it hard to listen to. It sounds raw/unpolished but not in a charming way.

This kind of reminds me Starry Eyed (the one she sang at the hospital) for some reason. Its the vocal riffs + ukulele (?) I guess -

Hollywood's Dead deserved to be on BTD as a deluxe track or through some other form of release but I can see why it was cut. I think it would've made the whole 50s/60s inspired aesthetic a bit too much and borderline kitschy. But I'm okay with YTH and Fine China not making the cut. YTH has a really ambiguous theme compared to the other tracks on UV and I feel like it doesn't really add anything to the story. Fine China probably could have been in Old Money's spot but I feel like the lyrics are too specific and the sound is really delicate/tame. Old Money does a better job of showcasing her vulnerability without detracting from the whole theme of UV. As for BAR, I mean, Summer Bummer, In My Feelings, etc. don't really add anything to the record yet she forced it into the tracklist so what harm would there be by adding BAR to LFL -

Coconut and Key Lime Pie goes way back before UV. Think that's from 2007 or so. I don't know which thread I got this from but I remember someone close to Lana (like a photographer or someone) said that some Honeymoon demos kind of had an 80s sound to them. -

This might sound cringe but I don’t take this definition too seriously myself but I think that line addressses how much she’s changed over the years from being his daughter to this extremely popular celebrity figure. “Hello, it’s the most famous woman you know on the iPad.” Unlike Lana, Rob and Lana’s family are ordinary people for the most part so this line is a nod to her celebrity status. I agree with you, I think she’s being literal about how she’s probably the most famous woman they know when they FaceTime. “Calling from beyond the grave, I just wanna say ‘hi dad.’” Maybe she feels that she’s changed so much from her past self that she kind of considers that part of her self dead (which is why she says she’s calling from beyond the grave). I interpret the “hi dad” bit as a way of her reminding him that she’ll always be his daughter despite all the fame, money, etc. I can see how this line is personal because Lana rarely addresses family/overly personal topics in her music but it kind of forces the listener to see her as a person in the sense that she’s somebody’s daughter, sister, etc and not just LDR.

Wish she at least used RBFY as an interlude on the tour or something. Really hope she doesn’t take the narrative of NFR too seriously and cuts it out because it’s “too happy.” If she adds strings, it would be even more gorgeous. Bel Air teas I know you’re reading this Lanz! -

Well, the thing is Coachella actually wasn’t on LFL at one point. They made that statement before Lana delayed the release to add it and all the other new tracks to LFL. -

I believe she talked about it to a couple fans at the barricade during the San Diego show last year (?). She introduced it as “Sylvia” and said it was her saddest song ever. -

MTE. When I first heard the line, I immediately thought of Kanye or Azealia. It being about the Azealia feud definitely makes sense. Though I don’t think this necessarily means that Lana harbors racist thoughts. There’s technically nothing wrong with calling a person white/black but Azealia obviously meant it in a derogatory way when she was harassing Lana on Twitter. It sounds like I’m blindly defending Lana at this point but it just seems like she’s just referring to Azealia as a black narcissist for the sake of messing with her the same way she messed with Lana rather than using it as an outright racial slur. Plus, given Lana’s history and distaste for narcissists, I don’t think it’s a word she’d exactly use to describe herself. If she is talking about herself, that makes the whole “she couldn’t care less and I couldn’t care more” line 10x cringier than if it was about someone else.

Agreed. I usually don’t have a problem listening to Lana’s “sadder” songs no matter the time or day but this is the first time I actually feel a song of hers is almost unlistenable in everyday situations. Kind of killed my mood this morning oop. It’s very heavy and direct, there’s really no way to misinterpret the message. Don’t think I’ll be playing this one much outside of late nights at home.
