Being that Lana is signed to UMG, if Drake's lawsuit impacts the music industry, would that keep Lana from releasing music relating to artists she didn't like? 

 

Like could she have dissed Lorde (Fucked My Way Up To The Top), G-Eazy (In My Feelings), Ethel Cain (All About Ethel), Lady Gaga (So Legit), etc.? if they were released today? I guess I'm asking: could it have a chilling effect on artists talking about other artists on record?

Untouched files will have intact metadata, which can reveal information not previously known. For example, certain producers have used particular exporter versions when bouncing a file, so all their songs with Lana might have the same metadata, meaning that if we know a song is confirmed to be produced by one producer and a song with an unknown producer has the same metadata, it can potentially tell us the unknown song's producer is the same person. Exporter versions can also help us approximate the dates when songs were made. There's a lot of data to be gleaned.

 

There can also be quality differences. Back in the day, songs often leaked through Youtube or Soundcloud, so the files were compressed and all rips from the streaming platform would be of worse quality than the original file.

I think it's just either one depending on the song. on our way's og leak for example is much better quality than the previously leaked file, as the og one is lossless; uncompressed. but the kill kill ep og leaks are more of a just fun collector thing i think. and also what @Beauty King mentioned about metadata.

 

and also it's rare but sometimes the leaker will slightly edit a song or create a new version of it with the song's stems. so og file leaks of songs in that context will be the unedited, original versions. example being zodiac

I really hate when leakers fuck up the songs. Don't leak them if you're going to ruin them. It reminds me of old school leakers putting their shitty "DJ" tags on everything.
