I second this. The song is legit garbage. Sounds AI generated to me. Or a Shania Twain leftover from the 90s. Most of all, it completely lacks identity. I think Chappel needs to stop mixing up genres until she gets a firm grasp on who she is as a pop girly. Even Kylie couldn't pull off country properly 30 years into her career. It's not something you just try on for size.

Would have been 10/10 if she did but honestly maybe she knows radio stations would cut that part out anyway…

well hear me out,

 

im not a fan of hers, i kinda dislike her personality (she comes off as a brat, entitled and ungrateful to me)... I didnt even enjoy her album cause souded like a mess (except Casual) to me. That said, everything that has come after pretty much Im liking. Good Luck Babe was a BOP of course, and The Giver has me hooked in. Its so country yet so pop and digestable, reminds me a lot of young Shania even in the vocals, and thats a good thing. I like the idea of her diggin into different genres and experimenting. Even if i dont like her i can apreciate the artistry and she sure knows how to write a catchy melodie and deliver emotion with her voice.

Woke up this morning humming The Giver. It's a bop I fear.

So I decided I don't really want The Giver 7" vinyl I pre-ordered that doesn't ship til August.

I'm not that crazy about the song to begin with and I keep thinking I'm going to stop buying 7" altogether (unless it's Lana) bc they're really not worth the money or that enjoyable to play.

Apparently though, the preorders can't be cancelled or refunded as all "sales are final":

I'm a bit tempted to just flag the transaction as incorrect on my CC statement, this is ridiculous, especially as it doesn't even ship till August!

I already did! And I guess bc the amount isn't that much they already settled the dispute.

The "all sales final" seems to only be on those 7" Giver singles too. Given the way they released them one by one, I bet they did that to prevent people from cancelling previous orders if they ordered them all thinking they'd be able to cancel the ones they don't want once we could see all five covers.
