Apparently there’s been ICE agents in the town I live in. Ofc they decide to come here since there’s a high population of Latinos especially in my neighborhood.   There’s so many hard working people here, it’s really sad to see.

guys, i'm really scared, i know they say that's how they want you to feel, but that doesn't necessarily change the way that i feel, i don't think anyone in their right mind WOULDN'T be scared or at least concerned

 

they're already targeting women, they're attempting to ban abortion federally, they're removing the names of women and their accomplishments off of websites, they're covering the portraits of women who have made accomplishments in certain buildings, it seems like they're really going to start taking away all that we've fought for, and it's so scary, i want to become someone, someday, i want to do great things, but i worry now that i will never be able to do anything with myself, and that my life will never amount to anything, people online are speculating that elon musk is going to freeze the assets of all the women in this country and force us out of work, that can't possibly happen, right? i feel like the country would quite literally collapse if that were to happen, but, i don't know, maybe that's what they want, and maybe i'm a fool for even believing that could possibly happen, but it just seems to be getting worse

 

it makes me very upset to think of how much has been going on, and only in the past few weeks, and how nobody seems to care, trump literally wants to wipe out an entire country for really no good reason, and nobody seems to really care, or want to do anything to stop it, it's a massive shame that most people aren't even aware of these things, and even if they are, they likely aren't too concerned, perhaps they think that since it won't impact them, it doesn't matter, which i find to be just... sad, the lack of humanity is deeply troubling, it makes me lose faith in humanity, why are humans so cruel, selfish, and ignorant? i don't understand it, at all

 

i find it so hard to live in general, i am just not strong enough for this world, or for life, majority of the time, and i can't handle it getting worse, or to be controlled in ways i never thought were possible, if they really do find a way to control us, so much, to the point where we have no options, i'm not sure if i could handle living like that, my life has always been honestly pretty shitty as it is, and maybe i've always been silly for thinking it ever would truly get better, lol

I knew the previous thing but I didn't know that they're removing the names and the recognition of women who have accomplished big things. Everything what his office has done so far has been evil and vile.

 

It's really sad to see you and many other American women going through that and maybe the following thing I'm going to say is stupid but don't let them win. If you surrendered, they would get their way and everything they wanted. And also as Lana said, if we hold onto hope we would get out happy ending. Don't lose any faith in yourself.

i get what you're saying, and it's what everyone's saying, to not give up, to not surrender, it's just so hard for me to not want to, although i've always been resilient, considering the fact that i'm still here, and i still manage to get up everyday, but i'm just so... weak, at the same time, i just want to cry, i just want everything to get better, even though that feeling goes beyond politics

 

i just want everything to be okay, and it doesn't seem like they are, we didn't do anything to deserve this, it's just very saddening

If you still manage to get up everyday, it's half a victory. If you're resilient, you're a strong woman, even if you feel weak at times. I really wish there was world where everyone would feel safe and happy. sorry for sounding too clichey

Mistakenly named FBI number 1, he resists and becomes the Trump administration's worst nightmare

Shortly after Donald Trump won the US presidential election in November 2024, Brian Driscoll, 45, was accidentally appointed acting director of the FBI. Since then, he has been at the center of controversy and has antagonized the White House, because he refuses to provide the personal information of agents who investigated Donald Trump's involvement in the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

His appointment was the result of an accident. In November 2024, the day after Republican Donald Trump won the US presidential election, the billionaire's transition team appointed Brian Driscoll as acting deputy director of the FBI, explains the New York Times. Robert Kissane, a high-ranking counterterrorism agent in New York, was appointed acting director of the federal service, while the Senate confirmed the appointment of Kash Patel, one of Donald Trump's most loyal supporters.

A mistake by the Trump administration

But shortly after Donald Trump's inauguration into the White House on January 20, 2025, the White House's official website swapped roles between Robert Kissane and Brian Driscoll. It identified the latter as the director of the federal agency and Robert Kissane as the deputy director. The error would ultimately not be corrected by the Trump administration: Brian Driscoll, 45, an FBI agent since 2007, ultimately took on the role of director of the agency.

A blunder that comes as the FBI is in the sights of the new president. Donald Trump has been particularly hostile to the federal police since its investigation launched after suspicions of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election opposing him to Hillary Clinton.

Former agents have called Brian Driscoll’s appointment “a providential mistake,” reports the New York Times. And for good reason, this former military officer ardently protects federal police agents against the assaults of the Trump administration, which particularly annoys the White House. His main feat: refusing to provide senior officials at the Justice Department with the names of FBI employees who worked on investigations related to the storming of the Capitol by Donald Trump supporters on January 6, 2021.

A symbol of resistance

The bias has sparked an unprecedented wave of support for him within the federal police, much of which is concerned about Donald Trump’s likely takeover of the agency. Brian Driscoll, the former director of the Newark, New Jersey, field office, has become the face of the resistance within the FBI. “Former agents and even current members of the FBI have been sharing memes and satirical clips celebrating him,” the New York Times reports.

Is this also a way of protecting himself? “I am one of the employees concerned,” he wrote. Brian Driscoll did indeed participate in the arrest of Samuel Fisher, a follower of the QAnon conspiracy theory in Manhattan, two weeks after the storming of the Capitol, reveals the New York Times. This refusal to comply has made the White House jump. Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove denounced the “refusal of the acting management to comply with the request” of the Justice Department, citing “insubordination.”

FBI Purge in the Works

But that won't stop the Trump administration from taking action against the FBI. Several American media outlets, including CNN, have revealed that a major purge is being prepared at the FBI against agents who investigated Donald Trump. According to CNN, several dozen agents who investigated the assault on the Capitol by supporters of the American president on January 6, 2021 are being evaluated with a view to possible dismissal. At least six senior FBI officials have been given the choice of "retiring, resigning or being fired by Monday," the news channel reported, quoted by AFP. Is Brian Driscoll in the hot seat? As of January 31, five senior executives and several local office directors have already been fired.

The new press secretary is so bad. I used to think she was okay, (for Trump standards) and like how she answered questions fully. But, after the last few days I’ve lost all respect for her, the way she talks about the Gulf of Mexico is insane. There’s no way she believes what she’s saying, and it is dreadful a reporter was barred from entering the briefing room for calling it the official name.

I like pennys. Even if it costs a few cents to make one penny, the difference is made up as it costs only a cent to make any bill / even 100s so it won’t make a difference in the long scheme of things.
