Lucky Ones is in my opinion, one of her worst released songs.

 

Guns and Roses has grown on me. Instrumentally, I think it’s really one of her most odd and different tracks she has released.

 

Lust for Life is underrated. I personally like it more than Honeymoon.

i strongly believe that "methamphetamines" and "meth love" are from 2008 / 2009, not 2006, which is what is commonly believed

I’ve always thought this as well, even before I read that they were from 2006! I feel like vocally they don’t line up with how Lana sounded in 2006 either, and I always got the impression that the homemade video Lana made for Methamphetamines was made in 2008 based on her look!

I truly don’t dislike any of Lana’s songs. I’ve tried listening to all her released songs very carefully to see if there’s a song that I dislike, but there honestly isn’t a single one. ❤️

it's just not really logical to think it was actually recorded in 2006, i think lana at one point said it was, but she also said that axl rose husband was recorded when she was 16, so...  

 

methamphetamines is the perfect 2008 lizzy grant lyricism and vibe, her look in the music video is very similar to her trailer park interview, and her vocal inflection is definitely not the same as it was in 2006, especially in meth love, that was top lizzy grant campiness

Exactly!! I remember Lana said in an interview for UV in 2014 that Old Money was derived from Methamphetamines, which she said was 5 years old (so, 2009) but the video says otherwise, the look is too similar to her 2008 Index Mag trailer park interview, and in 2009, her hair was a slightly different shade of platinum and was a bit longer/styled differently. Of course, as fans, we can’t really “confirm” anything, but I do think that we’re completely correct in our analyses! it’s so Lizzy Grant at her peak in terms of campiness and lyricism, and she has that southern drawl that wasn’t as prominent in her 2006 vocal delivery.

if you think about it, there's probably a lot of older unreleased songs we might not really know the true date of, however it's easy to guess based on the overall sound, lyrics, and vocal style, we can assume neon palmmm is 2009 because of the campy, slightly strange laptop demo vibe (and bc it's an early demo of heavy hitter ) we also never got a clear date on jesus is my boyfriend, but i would assume it's around 2007/2008, it's eerily similar to bentley!

That’s so true! I feel like that’s the really cool thing about Lana, how almost every year she introduces some sort of distinguishable characteristic - whether it be through her appearance, lyrical motifs, vocal stylings, or overall musical mood - that easily categorizes her catalogue. Even before her official album eras, she’s always had a natural progression that was drastic enough from year to year that has somehow helped us formulate a timeline pertaining to her work! For example, the difference between Lana in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 is so crazy to me. Each consecutive year feels like a natural progression, but when you pull back and look at them in hindsight, you can really see Lana’s evolution!

im not sure if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but im listening to BTD (the album) currently and... i really think Million Dollar Man might be in the top, like, 5 worst songs in lana's whole discography  which is a shame bc the live version is soooooo incredible! but on the album version... her vocals sound absolutely terrible and the weird autotune type effect makes her voice sound so weirdly metallic and robotic? and the strange sound effect that sounds like wind throughout the whole thing is so loud that it's almost distorted, not to mention how distracting it is from the rest of the song. the strings sound really cheap and the drums don't feel very balanced in terms of volume???

i don't hate million dollar man at all, but i agree that the production on the album version is a off-putting, i really prefer the demo version, i adore her voice in that version, not sure if it's the same vocal take but they sound really husky and gutteral, but also nasally? and she made it work really well? idk i just really like that demo, underrated for sure.

i think it might be the same vocal take! although im not sure the demo i listened to is legit - it's always hard to tell if its real or just fanmade

Million dollar man is legit so gorgeous to me. It’s like Yayo’s more independent older sister. I’d kill to see Lana sing this while laying on a piano....
