Summer Of Sam

Recommended Posts

Isn't it  -

"You can look but please don't touch." ?

It would make more sense, anyway.

It certainly does but that's not what she says at that part. It changes.

The Summer of Sam was in 1977... Lana ?

Yeah, and the Summer of Love was 1967.

Do you think she is actually saying 69 was like the Summer of Sam and the summer of Love?

So "like the summer of sam back in 69, we be heavenly..."  is like saying 'like Lee Harvey Oswald, back in 1865 John Wilkes Booth also killed a president' ?

For example: "Like the Summer of Sam back in 69" the zodiac killer was at large

Could "the Summer of Love back in 69" be referring to Lennon and Ono: the marriage, the Bed-ins, Give peace a Chance etc?

"Keepin’ it and cut your cherry pie"

is maybe actually "Keepin it in couture, cherry pie"

(It's what I hear!)

also,

"I'm diggable, predicatable No, everyone knows all my people"

I always thought it said "I'm diggable, predictable, now everyone knows amicable"

she clearly says amicable (the english language is my passion!)

I hear "Baby, I’m a cinnamon girl/Keepin’ it fresh on the far East Side/Baby, I’m a dynamite girl/Keepin’ it and cut your cherry pie". 'Dynamite' makes way more sense to me than 'tenement'.

"Tenement" makes plenty of sense. Tenements are a really common form of housing on the East Side of NYC which she namechecks multiple times in this song.

I definitely agree with the couture part, even though I always hear "keepin it in crutch, your cherry pie." :erm:

me listening to this song pretending to be a cute bad bitch walkin down the Coney Island boardwalk in my cherry white tank top (with collar), short shorts, and specially made Keds in 2009 waving hello to all the miserable dads there with their basic wives and bratty children:

Baby, I'm a cinnamon giiiiirl

If by not 'up to par' you mean distilling the worst elements that only kind of work in songs, sure. I could put a dictionary audiobook on shuffle and put it to an instrumental of old money and some of y'all would still be saying it's 50/50 lmfao.

I thought it was dynamite girl, not tenement girl

This is new to me.

For a while I also thought she was saying "Keep it in couture, cherry pie"
