Anyone here into The Faceless? They were my gateway drug to death metal with their album Autotheism in 2012. I’ve got 3 out of their 4 albums on vinyl but I cannot find Planetary Duality for a good price since it was such a limited pressing. :crying5:

also Michael Keene (their singer/songwriter/lead guitarist) is total man candy

Oh fuck yeah! That album is so underrated. The way they incorporated the fucking FLUTE into a song had me like :godlaugh:

I dig quite a few of their songs, I need to listen to more of their discography! I remember liking Only Shallow, When You Sleep, Blown A Wish and Only Tomorrow

my new favorite song/demo, i'm pretty selective when it comes to demos of rock songs, especially ones that are basically just more rough versions of the album version (i love a good acoustic demo though!) but i love the demo of like suicide, it's very raw, but i love that, the album version is magnificent, and the acoustic version is a treat, but there's something about the unpolished, unproduced, raw creativity of demos like this that just get me :hair:

Ooh thank you! I am particularly intrigued by Trees Clouds & Silence– Let Me Die On Your Roots.

I hope it sounds like Trees of Eternity - Hour of the Nightingale (a doom metal album about death, and was created while the lead singer was dying of cancer).

Gonna listen after my break :)

i once had a video recommended to me on youtube of a 24-minute(?) demo from that band, i didn't watch it or listen to any of their work, but i felt very intrigued by that video, perhaps i'll check them out! i'm not too well-versed on metal yet, but maybe i'll like it, that particular album you mentioned sounds like it could be very intense thematically considering the circumstances

how would you describe doom metal?

I've never heard that demo but want to hear it now!

I think the singers voice is so soothing and haunting, and her own views on dying really come through. I think Hour of the Nightingale is the only thing they officially released before Aleah died.

My favourites on the album are Sinking Ships and the title track.

I am not too sure how to describe doom metal tho, as Trees of Eternity and Chelsea Wolf are the only bands I listen to with that label. But from what i know, it's kind of like a droning metal sound, and it feels more peaceful to me. Still heavy, but I guess it let's you sink into the vibe more.

i know there's some sub-genres of metal that are very intense, but i think i can get into something that's a bit more relaxed and drone-y, i'll definitely have to check that band out soon!

Oh I found that demo! Its actually a compilation of 4 demos from the album. If you flick through it you should be able to see if you'll like it or not :)

I just listened and am sniffling back tears after the ending with Sinking Ships :crying4:
