Hey guys! I hope everyone had a great weekend and is doing well. :3 The Moderating Team has few announcements to make, so we'd be really appreciative if you could take just a few minutes to read the following:

 

1. REGARDING THE 'OPERATION GAGA INCIDENT':

 

We do not want a repeat of this, ever. We were working like crazy deleting threads, posts, statuses, and comments, on top of having to ban members, issue warning points, and revoke posting and status privileges. We shouldn't have to do all these things in such a short amount of time; we did enough moderating for a year in the span of 6 hours. We expect our members to be respectful and civil, regardless of any disagreements or dislike of certain fanbases/forums. We expect our members to not provoke/instigate or prolong drama. We expect our members to take the higher road, however hard that may be sometimes. There's a problem? Block them, PM us, we will deal with it accordingly. We do not need members fanning the flames of the drama.

 

The members here reflect the community. You represent us in the larger community of fanbases. What Lana fan would want to join if they heard the forum had a reputation for having immature members or that it was a source of drama and insults, death threats, and shading others? You and I both know that what happened that particular day is not at all representative of the forum syntality, but other Lana fans considering joining might not know that.

 

Another thing: We do not need forum wars. Please, DO NOT GO INTO OPERATION GAGA AND SPAM THEIR LANA THREAD: If you would like to discuss Lana over there, please sign up and contribute to the discussion in a meaningful way. Also, WE DO NOT TOLERATE THE SHADING/EXPLICIT INSULTING OF THE OGG COMMUNITY. If you are caught doing either of these things, there will be repercussions. The latter rule may seem harsh, but we simply cannot risk another having another 'forum war', and this was a condition we outlined in our public apology to them. (They also agreed that they would not shade/insult us anymore). The fact we even had to make an apology on another forum to stop a 'forum war' is horrible, and we do not want to ever be put in that position again.

 

 

2. REGARDING POSTS MADE ON THIS FORUM:

 

This regards only a few members, but we'll make it explicitly known anyway so that there is absolutely no confusion: there is a 'Quality over Quantity' rule on this forum. Certain members seem to be interested solely in upping their post count and not contributing to the discussion, and this is NOT ACCEPTABLE. If have any concerns or questions about this rule, please take a look at this excerpt of a PM draft we use to address these Quantity-over-Quality-Spammers. Moderators will use their discretion when it comes to issuing warning points, if necessary.

 

 

3. REGARDING "TRADING":

 

Please, please, please DO NOT MAKE STATUSES ABOUT TRADING. We've had to delete several statuses regarding looking for traders, looking to trade certain songs, etc -- we cannot afford to have anything posted on this forum that looks as though we're a hotspot for trading activity. Moderators will use their discretion when it comes to issuing warning points, if necessary.

 

 

4. REGARDING NEW MEMBERS, DISCUSSION, AND DOWNLOAD LINKS:

 

You guys have been doing such a good job welcoming new members and this has not gone unnoticed. :3 The Team has seen new members becoming quickly assimilated into the community, moving quickly from their introduction thread to getting involved in discussion and our particular brand of forum humor and we really could not be happier!

 

We'd also like to commend everyone for getting involved in discussion! We've had some great discussion and we love how multifaceted this community is in terms of topics and ~seriousness/silliness~ of conversations. As Sitar once said (not verbatim), "Even when we shade Lana, thought-provoking discussion comes out of it." (Sorry for butchering your quote, btw)

 

Lastly, we really appreciate everyone abiding by the "No posting download links" rule. It makes our lives a little easier not having to delete that content. (: Remember, requests may still be posted in statuses and can be met via PMs, not in the comments.

New users who sign up should be redirected to point 2 3 4 and 5 as they're simple rules to follow and everyone should know about them...

Not everybody reads the terms and conditions (me being one of them because they're usually long) but these are easy to follow!

Everyone should be required to view this or else they cannot view certain forum sections That would be very mean though

I agree massively on this point. As a forum, this kind of thing just makes for division among the members, and usually results in some type of superiority mindset being spread. If you happen to have a song we don't, that's fine; just don't go around telling people about it. This is very discouraging behaviour at any time, but especially in such a close community as this one. Disturbances affect everyone, and statuses related to 'trading' are great examples of this principle.

 

 

4. REGARDING DOWNLOAD LINKS:

 

 

We really appreciate everyone abiding by the "No posting download links" rule. It makes our lives a little easier not having to delete that content. (: Remember, requests may still be posted in statuses and can be met via PMs, not in the comments.

 

 

Again...it's really distracting and just flat-out bothersome when all these people continuously request songs in the middle of otherwise informative threads. It's Okay to post a status or two about it (I hope only one would be necessary!), but actual forum comments are quite annoying.
