'Lust for life' should have been the 1st song on the album - would have made a great opener. It was actually my least fav Lana song ever when the song came out, but with the album release it became one my fav Lana songs. I guess it's even my fav now from the new album.
Created a new copy of the album for myself and changed the first 2 songs. It feels better now.

Idk imho Love is more anthemic, regardless it started the era and it kind of encompasses what she wanted to do; something for the fans, about who we are, what we need, where we've as fans and stage mother have been, and where we're goin

As I mentioned PAWN SHOP BLUES on the other thread it reminds me-

PAWN SHOP BLUES is metaphorically a great conduit in meaning between Honeymoon and Lust for Life isn't it?

Isn't it amazing that great poets/songwriters (like Ms. Grant and Dylan and Paul Simon and Bernie Taupin and Leonard Cohen) can do that

with their words meaning one thing, then another, then another as time shifts and moves on.

(in the same vein that Simon's American Tune could have been written in the days after 9-11 or today w/Trump ("and I dreamed I was flying, my eyes could clearly see

Statue of Liberty, sailing away to sea")

and John Lennon's #9 Dream (which John said came to him in a dream), the meaning could have been about the day he was assassinated.)

and in general, how Born to Die and Lust for Life are polar opposites on the same theme

in the same way Elton/Bernie's "Someone saved my life tonight" and The One are musically very similar (Bach Air on a G String) but

Someone is about a suicide attempt about Elton with the wrong person and The One is an affirmation of love and finding love with the right person

and how "Ride" keeps coming back- life itself is a ride and one keeps driving if one is moving forward

Lana is our modern day Edith Piaf. Totally unique. a mixture of Brian WIlson Roy Orbison, Leonard Cohen, Gram Parsons, Elton & Bernie. Born to Die/Paradise is comparable to Elton's Captain Fantastic. All the records need to be listened whole. Waiting for a box set vinyl of all 400 songs not on any lp

y'all wildin if you don't think 13 Beaches should have been the opening track, especially with the epic ass orchestra that feels out of place at 3

:crossed: :crossed: :crossed: :crossed:

While im happy with Love as the opener, 13 beaches is a nice fit as an opener too but only because of the opening strings.

Love makes the most sense though, also when compared to Get Free as a closer.

LFL is NOT an album opener by any means, its perfect as track 2.

i just think 13 beaches feels so out of place and love starts off like its continuing after another track, i think 13B and L should swap

:oprah3:  :oprah3:  :oprah3:

if i was lana i would have arranged it like

1. 13 Beaches

2. Lust for Life

3. White Mustang

4. Cherry

5. Summer Bummer

6. In My Feelings

7. Coachella

8. Groupie Love

9. Love

10. God Bless America

11. When The World Was At War We Kept Dancing

12. Heroin

13. Tomorrow Never Came

14. Beautiful People Beautiful Problems

15. Change

16. Get Free
