i have to say that "confirmation" by him felt weird and incomplete. i remember the facebook post denying they dated and claiming they met in jan 2014. there was a comment there alleging that at lana's show he had said they'd known each other for several years. i also remember some other statement he made where he eluded to maybe being able to tell the truth one day? i don't quite remember, but i do remember it struck me as odd. i'm not trying to be a deluded stan but i really do think there's more to it than what he's letting on.

Maybe for publicity? That way Lana doesn't have more stans asking "What happened with Jimmy!?" Because you know those kind of people exists...

I don't know much about Gnecco, honestly; most of what I know comes from your Lanalysis post actually *hides under covers* And when you say "going on tour with her," what tour is this referring to? I know he opened for her once, but I looked it up and only got stuff about 2014. I don't know her tour stuff very well, so maybe it's just recent results covering old ones.

"I met Lana in January 2014. The Jim she sings about is Jim Bean." He's saying he met with her and she told him she was singing about alcohol. I can get why people think he's saying this is when they first met, but I don't think that's what he meant at all.

 

 

This is a Facebook post, not from Instagram, but it's still relevant because he says "on the night we met in January of 2014." I guess this photo is to prove that he never abused her because she wouldn't take a photo with him all smiley if he hit her and it felt like a kiss?

 

I'll look up Jimmy stuff when I have time. He does sound oddly inconsistent about his relationship with Lana - "she's a crazy stalker but I wrote this song about her but we had a rocky relationship but thanks for letting me tour with you but we never dated."

Jim in Ultraviolence, not every Lana song. I don't know if I trust that explanation, but Lana has talked about singing to alcohol before, so it's not totally random.

 

One thing I'm confident about is that UV is not about Jimmy. I don't know about HDB, but UV is not about him. it's a different Jim - it's not exactly an uncommon name, after all.

I wish she would have stayed with the one that ultimately made her happy and ultimately made her the way she is today. Even with all this depressed, romantic music I would have been happier never knowing who she was if it ultimately made her happy.

 

It's a shame that we don't know the causes of all her previous relationship endings, but if it felt unfair or unfinished to her then I would have preferred her happiness over anything. She was lovely with Barrie and I think she would be lovely with Franco but again, whatever makes her happy

Put Me In A Movie is about the plot of Lolita ._. Everything that references the film industry is about Clare Quilty and how he attempted to get Dolores to film child pornography.

Quilty liked Dolores, so he stole her from the hospital when Humbert was gone.

Self explanatory,

References how Dolores never had a real father, so it could either be an "invite" for either Humbert or Quilty.

 

"He didn't know he'd have this much fun."

 

Analysis is quite open. Could refer to a real life relation of Del Rey's, could refer to Humbert but probably not referring to Quilty as ultimately he kicked her out when she didn't do as he said.

 

"You're my little Sparkle Jump Rope Queen."

 

Obviously just referring to Del Rey. She could possibly be putting herself in Dolores' place.

 

"You know I can't make it on my own."

 

Refers to how Humbert would blackmail Dolores. If she ever left him, he would be jailed and she would be take into care and "lose all of her possessions". She didn't have a mother to go home to and couldn't survive by herself.

 

"Put Me In A Movie."

 

Again, refers to the child pornography that Dolores was asked to do by Quilty earlier in the novel.

 

Another point is that it is one of Del Rey's, if not her overall favourite book - she writes a lot of songs about Lolita so it's very much possible that what was just stated was quite true. It's open to debate but I doubt it is about her own experiences to some extent.
