  1. Some of us wanted more presence from her in the media and we get it lately but I can't dismiss the feeling that she was kind of bored/boring. She is always beautiful but for some time she just doesn't care about her image (weight gain, she wore some horrible outfits) and this can be interpreted as empowering but it's just not working with red carpet events. I don't know, maybe she wants to ditch the whole glamorous LDR image and its working because she is constantly on the worst dressed list and people are noticing that she is constantly under-dressed at this events (she is slowly building a frumpy image). Not that I give a fuck about those lists but this seems like trolling to me and she needs to get positive about her career.
  2. That would be lame even for Lana. I mean being in the UK, nominated and not attending... I expect her to attend tho
  3. Yeah, she looks exhausted from the pictures I've seen, I hoped that she has overcame her depression
  4. Video Games. This song made her a star and it's arguably one of the most relevant songs for the 2010's It's very much the essence of LDR without the annoying bad boy trope
  5. The way BN flows into Religion...it's just good. I wonder if she loved someone like "When I'm down on my knees, you're how I pray". ...with pure love "It never was about the money or the drugs For you, there's only love"
  6. What is shit on HM? I find her production quite good. I got tired of the Twigs sound pretty quickly. And what would be the point of Lana being in the trends? To have a hit? What's the purpose to came out with a hit when you don't care about commercial success, you don't promote your material and you'll never perform it before the GP? She will go her route that is opposite to any commercially viable trend of du jour. I hope that she will collaborate with Auerbach type of musicians and I'm quite impressed with her stubbornness of developing a strong artistic identity and not trying (and failing) to play the popstar
  7. I saw that some of you compared Lana with Marina so I may ask: why would be a shame for Lana to be at Marina's level? When you don't cultivate a certain image that was successful, when you don't promote your music, when you're not performing before the GP then you cannot expect to have huge album sells or to fill arenas with your shows. Recently I read about an Interscope executive who said that he convinced Lana to do arenas in 2015, so I think that naturally Lana is for smaller venues. Lana doesn't think big because she cannot (or its not willing) to handle the things that come with bigger exposure. I don't know too much about Marina's career but she seems at least to be a better live performer than Lana. So it's natural that Lana will come close to Marina's status in the future if her strategy remains the same and it's nothing to be ashamed of. I have to admit that, unlike Marina, Lana had the chance to be big but she refute it so I always consider the BTD era a fluke and I will not play anymore the disappointed fan game towards Lana that will only diminish the enjoyment of her music that I still like
  8. I don't think that will ever happen. It's not her comfort zone and, if I remember correctly, in the last 3 years she didn't do anything out of her comfort zone. I understand her not wanting a stronger exposure in the media, but without performing strongly before the GP it's almost impossible to get a Grammy nom or to win in her categories. This time she wasn't grumpy about that she wasn't actually nominated and it's just lame talking about her being nominated for a small contribution on an other artist's record, she's much bigger and better than that as an artist. She partied, she had fun, I saw her beautiful and happy and it's ok
  9. She's gorgeous, but she's trolling so hard with these outfits...why Lana?
  10. I don't think that this new look has something to do with the BTD era. Maybe she's overcoming her depression and I'm happy for her if that's the case
  11. In pure sales terms and if we are talking about casual fans she is strongly declining compared to the BTD era. But if we take a look at the concept of career beyond commercial success I wouldn't describe her path as declining because in my opinion she never reached true pop stardom. She always was an oddball: hugely popular on some parts of the internet and virtually unknown to large parts of the gp. For me BTD was a fluke, a hype bubble, generated by 4-5 songs with good commercial appeal, by her exposure to the gp in 2012-2013 because of a strange combination of positive and negative publicity and she was the new face with a new sound. But she never stabilize that, she didn't get comfortable with the media, she avoided to perform before the gp and I think that she become aware of her limitations as a performing artist thus she started making non-commercial music that suits better her strengths and doesn't put pressure on her to perform before the gp. I'm convinced that this is conscious strategy of hers to position her career in a zone where is less commercial success but which requires less media exposure and allows her to be more experimental. Maybe she's not a great performer but she's a great studio singer, a respectable songwriter and lately she's showing that she has producer qualities too. Artistically she went upwards: UV and HM are much better records overall than BTD (except VG which is her best song). So, I think that she is in a good place career wise and she'll be relevant for some time to come
  12. This would have been my reaction 6 months ago. I flipped after the release of HM because I expected her to do something "great", to become the biggest star in the universe just to prove the bullies wrong. I didn't listen to LDR for about two months when accidentally I started to listen again in my car because I forgot to take her cd out. And I liked her voice, is mesmerizing. That was the reason why I followed her in the first place. I started to listen again to HM and I discovered a beautiful record, mellow but with subtle beauty in almost every track. So who is Lana? The BTD, Blue Jeans vamp or the melancholic/silly girl from her homemade videos? I think that at the beginning of the LDR era she wanted to become a huge pop star but "upon an unfortunate series of events she saw those dreams dashed and divided like a million stars in the night sky" as she say it in the Ride monologue. And slowly she reverted back to her safe place doing strange videos and non-commercial music that we loved from the pre-fame era. But now we are criticizing her to the ground for being herself. Is this video a great artistic statement? No, but it's beautiful, has a connection with the song, singing about being a freak it's less literal than singing about Jim (Jones), and, despite some of you said, has a story that it's not obvious and it's up for interpretation. Technically it's a mess but without diminishing the beauty of it. If you don't like the Debussy part don't watch it. I watched 10 times with ease, it's calming and the Debussy part mesh well with Freak which is a good song. She doesn't want to be a pop-star anymore are you ready to accept it? I do and I enjoyed the video
  13. Joking aside I'll expect that she'll announce something like a tour+new album maybe
  14. ...and some people are fantasizing about her performing at the Superbowl... after a huge ww farewell tour (milk one last time the LDR era) and a last album that maybe will finish her contract, I think that it would be the right time for her to scrap the LDR alter-ego, which is diminished as a brand and exhausted artistically, and continue her singer-songwriter career as E. Grant and maybe go the producer route. She still has enough fans that will follow her no matter what in the next few years and at least she'll left behind all the mess that plagued her career in the LDR era, the whole persona thing and unrealistic popstar expectations from her that she's clearly unable to fulfill. I can picture her doing small gigs, coming out regularly with respectable music for a long time to come and maybe she'll start enjoying her career
  15. I hope that is more Ride than Tropico. Not that Ride was brilliant, it was a cliche fest, but at least was shorter, coherent, less pretentious, had some of the best cinematography that I saw in a music video and it was somewhat controversial making people talk about it. I hope that Freak has some good directing and it's not some compiled mess like Tropico was.
  16. Lana would be a great producer in my opinion. The HM production grew on me and I think that it is on par with Auerbach's work on UV. She doesn't like to perform but she's happy in a studio. It's a natural progression for her
  17. whelp I have a foot fetish with Lana and I seriously hate her footwear she just wears the most ugly shoes just to cure my fetish what a queen.
  18. So why she said in her interviews that she enjoys a lot of freedom from her label? These are speculations but I think that no one could stop her to come out with the videos as she wanted them. No one stopped her doing Tropico which was one of the huge missteps of her career, a money drain and artistic flop. I think that she's more than ever in charge of her career and she just chickened out from the controversy in the UV era.
  19. There is no point for her to come out with new music for at least 2 years. Besides a huge worldwide tour, I cannot see how she could advance her singing career but I could really envision Lana as a producer/business woman, starting a label and producing/promoting (the irony) talens discovered by her
  20. Another Lorde clone. She's quite boring tbh, her music and voice are average at best. Benny Boy needs another wining card but this will not cut it
  21. I think that she wanted her career to get quieter with less promo and exposure even if that means less fans. It's her decision and I respect that even if things are getting more "boring". I noticed that she talked recently on insta about her "beloved" discography which seems overly defensive for me...maybe she is starting to worry about her career. Her upcoming tour will answer a lot of questions and at least we'll see her doing something
  22. If you would hack in Lana's icloud I bet you would found only selfies from neck above. That's Lana, the bad boys and the rough sex it's just a fantasy, she seems an overly shy person to me. But Lorde is more in need for a different career than Lana tbh
  23. Flipflopfan

    Rihanna

Downloaded today. Overall a mediocre, disappointing album, I didn't recalled one song after the first listen. HM>>>>>> easily.
  24. This piece pretty much sums up where she is after HM http://www.pop-buzz.com/pop-culture/lana-del-rey-pop-princess-or-alt-queen/
  25. I don't watch her older videos anymore but I revisit the HM era videos. MTWBT is calming and has some fine, melancholy inducing shots and HBTB reminds me of summer and the sea. I don't expect anything fancy from her anymore maybe something strange or even shocking (and I hope that it will make some sense)
