  1. I watched on periscope the entire show. These are my observations: The good: - Yayo was an eerie experience - There were many Lana fans - There were no backing tracks - OTTR was pretty good (but she run away with no encore again) The bad: - Overall was an incredibly boring experience. Now I understand the clueless Belgians: if you’re not a Lana fan, sitting through her show can be a chore. Why is her show boring? Well firstly, Lana is not there: her delivery is lethargic, she has no energy and her voice is weak. Her band is becoming bland tbh. Secondly, her playlist is plagued with a lot of slow songs that she didn’t sing well (BTD, Ride was horrible, Carmen). This is not a festival setlist, period. - She cannot interact with the audience. Her attempts were pathetic, like a shy schoolgirl that is for the first time on stage. When those nobodies’ backup bitches were next to her they exuded more confidence than Lana. - Her voice was all over the place too many times. The fact that she cannot control her voice in live settings is disheartening. - The setlist is an incoherent mess, those interludes about the moon were out of place. In conclusion, I’m convinced that the decision to do a festival tour was a really bad one because she’s not in the position to hold her headline status. Her show is weak and I say this as a Lana fan, imagine how a non-fan will react to this boring mess. Unfortunately she woke up to late to improve her show, the backup girls are underused and misused in the same time in my opinion. But the main problem is Lana herself: her voice was tragic sometimes, she butchered Ride and she improvised badly on to many songs where she couldn’t hold the tune. I have a negative feeling about this tour but this is the consequence of not taking seriously and professionally your career
  2. Some media reactions from Belgium said that she was misplaced at a festival that emphasized on rock. Some fans said on twitter that she was sad at the reaction of the public. So fuck them. She needs to thicken up. Of course that a bunch of tattooed, beer belly, bald, older shit machines didn't connect with her melodramatic style. They waited for the Boss and many of them had no clue who she was. But this could be a problem in the upcoming festivals and she needs to deal with it because it was also her decision to do these festivals. She needs to wake up from her biter-sweet melancholy dream state and face the fact that she has a career worth saving. What she expected tbh? That she'll have the Coachella crowd from 2014 when her career was at the highest point with a lot of LA fans coming just to see her? Since than we had the UV and HM eras with no promo, a lot of stupid interviews and boring videos happened which put her on a downward spiral career wise. So she needs to put herself in the career building mode again which is not easy and sometimes it's just not working despite the artist best efforts. So, I'm a little concerned for her upcoming festival events especially for Lola because that comes with huge media exposure and that performance will definitely count in her perception stateside. But I say it again: she needs to be bold, she has nothing to lose, she cannot cancel these shows and run away, she has to go forward no matter what and she needs to ditch this ridiculous frighten rabbit act regarding her performances. The fact that she tweaked her show is the step in the right direction. I'm rooting for her and the best case scenario will be that 2016 will mark the transformation of LDR in a confident performer
  3. I don't think that Lana is a festival artist yet. It was a gamble that she went only for festivals where you have to deal with a diverse audience. Her popularity in Europe is diminishing lately so I thought that an extensive theater/arena tour in Europe would have been a better choice for her
  4. I'm happy that she changed her show. This festival wasn't a good fit for her but it's good that she's experimenting new things in her show. She had to change her way of performing to have a chance to keep her career afloat. Her songs are multilayered and she needed backup singers and I'm happy that she ditched those awful backup tracks. She has nothing to lose, I hope that these changes in her show will improve and she'll become a confident performer
  5. The point of my stupid existence as a Lana fan is to buy her records and stream her music (that puts some coins in your pockets also if you were the real Ben). You are lame either way: If you are the real Ben you should pay for this forum tbh (where some delusional people still stanning for your quickly fading protege) and you definitely should not comment here...if you're just a bro using Ben as an avatar and you're trying to act as the real Ben is just...really lame (I'm not in the mood to be rude)
  6. Why am I not interested in the slightest about this supposed video? I know that I'm flopping hard...but maybe I got to not expect anything special from her after two years of disappointments in the video department. I think that there are two songs worthy of a video on HM: TBD and Salvatore. These videos are suited with her retro+instagram filter style and could come with a strong narrative. She really needs a good video out there to change the perception that she lost it, but she has no money from her label so I don't have high expectations
  7. I don't know why but when I pictured Lana with Leo I just LOL'd
  8. Fuck Cersei, the last episode was annoying, they disentangled an interesting situation in a very stupid manner. They killed a lot of interesting characters just to put this cunt on the iron throne. I really liked Cersei's humongous ego suffer and she was thoroughly outplayed by Margaery. Cersei needs to go hopefully killed by Jaime. Jon Snow lost his mojo. I hope that pathetic Daenerys will fall from her dragon (she's an awful actress) and I really hate the dothraki (they are a like bad parody for eastern cultures). They could sink Dorne also any plot that goes there is beyond boring.
  9. BTD is a pretty good album without DMD, MDM, Lolita and Lucky Ones.
  10. Wilson seems nice and I have a feeling that he likes her. She needs stability in her private life which can effect positively her career. He is a musician and that was her pattern with boyfriends (exception is Fran): low profile (talented) musicians. So, the fucked my way to the top line is totally sarcastic. Her looks and behavior became so mundane but it's a conscious choice from her because she wants to avoid any negativity in the press. She's not even attempting to do some promo and it seems that everybody is at peace with that: Lana, her managers, her label and it's time for us to except her choice. What remains it's her music and performances and it will be really interesting to observe how much gravitas these things have without the meta discussion about her looks, style and background story - because, let's face it, her banal outings in jeans and white shirt it is not worthy of any discussion anymore.
  11. Lana is battling depression and anxiety and it's obvious that it effects her personality. She seems to me like a deeply insecure person about some things: 1. Her past. Her name change in this preposterous Lana Del Rey moniker is really bothering me after I observed that everybody, even her parents, are referring to her as Lana. Besides the ridiculousness of the situation, it seems to me that she's running away from something an idea which was enforced to me by the many lies that plagued her throughout her career. 2. Her looks. I know, it sounds crazy, given that I googled her just to see her pretty face! I always defended her against plastic surgery accusations but after the recent Poland gig I have to admit that she messed up her face. It's infuriating taking in account that she always was a good looking woman. 3. Her public perception. She is self centered in her work and maybe this personality trait made her swallow every BS written about her which affected her self esteem. I believe that she is the type of celebrity who's reading everything written about them. This is one of the reasons for that she stopped promoting and it's working because the negative (or positive) articles about her are gone. I'm certain that her trolling through music and the way that she behaves sometimes in public (the way she clothes) is a response to some of the negative reactions to her in the press. In contrast, I remember when Woddy Allen, who is accused of pedophilia by his own step-daughter, said that he's not reading anything about himself because it would bothered him in his work. With Lana everything is about herself: how misunderstood and underappreciated she is in the business. 4. I think that she knows that she's not good live. Because of this she looks on stage like someone who never wanted to be there in the first place and she's always running away without giving any encores. She is a complicated person. On the one hand she wanted fame, shooting extravagant covers and videos and on the other hand she's is ready to throw everything away by not doing even a minimal promo for her albums. But at least she has a personality which is distinct from the corporate fakeness of other popstars. Her "fakness" has nothing to do with the business anymore is something more personal, something that maybe we will never be able to fully understand it. Moreover I was upset at the way she dumped Barrie which made me question her goodness, Barrie was a depressive pain in the ass sometimes but he was there for her when she had it rough and he certainly didn't deserved to be left like this. After years of obsessively following her online I started to feel sorry for her because she's clearly depressed and unable to put her personal life and career in order. I believe the she needs to put this Lana Del Rey experiment behind her because it will ruin her psychologically. She's a smart woman (she's not a medium worshiping twat) and she is talented, she could develop in a respected songwriter and she could become a respected singer also. She's already a good studio singer and I'm certain that with a proper preparation of her songs and in the right environment (smaller venues) she could became a respected live singer (I hope) named E. Grant.
  12. Can we stop comparing Lana with these artists? I don't listen to any of them because frankly I don't like pop music. Lana is/was one of the few exceptions for me because she is borderline pop. But even with my little knowledge on Drake and co. I know that these artists are megastars, who are capable to put up a show while Lana isn't. She cannot handle the limelight and she became the definition of anticlimactic since UV came out. Tbh I don't care about the way she'll put out her next record. It won't matter, at least commercially. The only thing that still interests me about her next record is her voice and the music (and maybe the upcoming meltdowns in her career )
  13. I kind of liked Freak. But her vocals were uneven (again) and her stage presence is beyond boring, it's starting to annoy me. She just cannot go beyond this "I'm lost on a stage" or "shy schoolgirl" attitude. LoL at her wearing the same shoes and dress again. Can her be more careless?! Everything looks tired in her show, she's singing without energy and passion. I'm disappointed in her for not improving her live show and I think that she has no excuses anymore to come out with a sub-par stage arrangement, in reused clothes, with no adequate live preparation for her songs (those recorded instrumentals and vocals are cringe-worthy). I have to say that she doesn't deserve her headlining status at Lola or anywhere else
  14. She definitely lost some weight. It's unusual that Ben it's with her, I hope that it's all good and she'll have a great concert in Poland. She's really loved there
  15. I'm curious how this awkward festival "tour" will go for her. She has some high profile shows and I hope she'll do good and she'll get some positive publicity. I hoped for more dates, career wise I think that she needs to go to places like Australia and Brazil, to tour extensively in Europe and in the UK. Instead, we don't have any information about the set-list or about anything else, at least she could build some anticipation, but nothing... I noticed that Buster Keaton instagram post just before the start of her tour, I'm so tired of this... We got it, she's depressed but she needs to do something about it because this attitude is just alienating everybody, sooner or later. I have a feeling that her next album will be her last.
  16. She is cute and she has the voice but she's no dangerous woman
  17. MDM is the first Lana song that i hate.
  18. I don't care about her sound anymore. She was/is eclectic enough musically anyway. Regarding her next record, I will care, for the first time seriously, about the concept of the album and the lyrics. If she will sing again about some doomed romance, namedrop some dead legend or she'll use some of her now "signature" tropes (die young - live fast, crazy woman, sad girl, red dress, misunderstood artiste etc.) I'm out and I will never look back. I'm done excepting her laziness in songwriting and I expect something interesting from her next time around. Also, I don't want to hear on her next record any lamenting/trolling songs about critics (who btw where exceptionally nice with her regarding HM). Since she doesn't do any promo for her stuff at least she can sit at home and create something beautiful and meaningful lyrically. Musically I want her to sing with passion, to feel that she is interested to convey something, that she believes in something. If she mumbles through an album like HM again than she can keep it for herself. If she cannot improve lyrically, it wouldn't be a bad idea to hire some writers for her next record, but in that case she'll loose her songwriter status and she's not much of a singer besides her records...so she needs to write (she said that she's a writer first anyway). So I hope that she'll come up with something good next time around and I can get into her music again
  19. @fessle, you behaved decently. Any fucking celebrity who earn their absurd living from selling songs, movies etc. have to understand this. That's not implying that they do not have the right to a private life but they have to acknowledge the limitations that come with being a celebrity. No one force them to take that route and no one force them to stay in the business. Lana has a strange personality anyway so you shouldn't be surprised by her random behavior. She sometimes kisses fans on their mouth and in other situations she's vacant.
  20. These leaks are getting more embarrassing than interesting tbh. Comapare these recently leaked songs with her cover of Daniel Johnston's "Some Things Last A Long Time" which she sung gorgeously. One thing these leaks made clear for me she has no place in pop, she needs to go full alternative and she needs a change of topic asap. I hope that I never hear a song about boys from her
  21. The lyrics are cringe-worthy. Utter silliness, she seems like a lyrical xerox sometimes.
  22. I think that she's much more in control of her stuff than some people think. Not Nowels was the problem on HM, Lana was. Nowels is more of a yes-men than Auerbach, so Lana's will came through and HM became as lethargic as it is. For me HM's problems are the lyrics and the lack of passion. Caramanica of NYtimes nailed it in his review when he said that Lana is like a "dog that, when its leash is tugged, simply lies on the ground and shuts its eyes: basking in the sun, feeding off its warmth, never giving an inch". When you come out with music that slow people will focus on your lyrics and message. Hm has no message, is just a slow burning melancholy record fucked up by some really poor lyrical choices and by the relentless monotony. Still it's better than 25 for me but that is not enough to save Lana's career because Adele can sing live and put some hits out
  23. Rihanna and Lana are "peers" as are the panther and the fraidy cat
  24. We became the fans of a fan. I'm happy for her going out to concerts but her career is in the pits and I would like to see her a little bit concerned and maybe doing something (interesting) about that. "She looks amazing" - no, she looks as usual: simply dressed (jeans) with horrible shoes. The only thing that always gets me is her smile. I hope that she finds someone good for her
