the nominations for this year are so bad i don’t even know if i’ll be watching. first time i haven’t watched the grammys in 7 years

I’m not really a fan of much that Drew and Lana have done together either, besides Arcadia, however my quarrels about their songs together are just as much with Lana’s contribution as Drew’s. i’m not a fan of the arrangements or compositions especially on Beautiful and Violets for Roses, and the way those songs were tracked, produced, and mixed is not for me, however I think those songs also have some core issues structurally and melodically (which is all Lana). i do really love Arcadia, i think Lana and Drew have the potential to make some beautiful things together as long as the songs that Lana brings him are actually good at their core, which imo hasn’t necessarily been much of the case. but hopefully that’s changed for Ocean Blvd! i have a good feeling it has

when if this happens they better put the CD up because i might go crazy if it’s NFR again and we only have shitty cassette and vinyl rips for weeks

exactly! i also think cohesion can make bodies of work where some songs aren’t the best stronger as an entire album. without naming album names lmao i think lana has done both of those things in the past, there’s an album full of (mostly) great songs but the messiness of it brings the quality of the album down as a whole, and then there’s another album where most of the songs are kind of mediocre by lana standards on their own, but are beautiful and more impactful next to everything else in the context of the whole album. really hope that for Ocean Blvd she channels what she did during UV and HM where it’s a wonderfully cohesive body of work without everything sounding the same, and all of the songs are still just as good on their own too

well that’s why i shared my opinion! personally i think cohesiveness in a body of work is what makes good songs a good album

i genuinely have no worries at all for this album besides cohesion, which after seeing the credits and instruments, it seems like that won’t be much of a problem as long as A&W and Peppers compliment each other well. i’m not even worried for the interludes, i definitely think they’re going to add a lot to the album and make front-to-back listens feel so much more sequenced and put together and intentional. i still think this will be her magnum opus; if Ultraviolence is Lana’s Blue and NFR and is Lana’s Court and Spark, Ocean Blvd will be her Hejira

the grammys when they have a maximum limit of 20 performers, already have 13 confirmed for the ceremony, have big nominations for Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Adele, Doja Cat, Kendrick Lamar, Omar Apollo, etc etc all of whom would make fantastic surprise performers, but then say “no let’s ask Lana Del Rey instead who hasn’t performed on TV in 10 years and wasn’t nominated for anything” if they’re gonna have anyone who wasn’t nominated perform it’s gonna be SZA or Rihanna or something lbr

why do people think lana is performing at the Grammys… she hasn’t performed on TV in 10 years besides once which wasn’t even live, it was a pre-recorded video; that + the fact that she doesn’t even have any nominations for this ceremony, there’s no way that the Grammys would even ask her to perform 😭

yeah i feel like ben/ed/interscope were kind of fed up with lana having a private account, not even to mention her announcing things late on it, and also lana probably didn’t want to give them access to honeymoon because it’s her personal page. so oceanblvd was the compromise between everyone lmao, i have a feeling it’s just gonna be her management running it for promotional reasons and lana isn’t gonna have anything to do with it

unless she’s releasing the second single with a music video at the same time, honestly i really don’t think she’s announcing it; i mean the whole album announcement + single release would’ve been a complete surprise to us if it weren’t for that random red carpet interview. although i do think oceanblvd is going to be like lana’s taylornation for this era, so maybe her management will announce something on there beforehand
