  1. i think that pic was from this day https://www.instagram.com/p/Cl4dcRKSMHY/?igshid=YWJhMjlhZTc= just seems to be pretty visuals to compliment the album
  2. this was my first thought too but also not all music or lyrics are meant to be understood by everyone who listens, especially lana. it very likely could’ve been a personal connotation, like the day lana and barrie broke up it was raining or something lol. which is a big deal in california too! it would make sense why she would want to incorporate that in a song. it could be a really cool play on words and twisting of reality with metaphor. lmao or she was just saying whatever
  3. i had a dream about A&W a few nights ago and it was a mix of Cruel World and BBS so basically the same idea… manifesting manifesting manifesting
  4. did he confirm that? the file that was selling in September was labeled as like 5:30 or something
  5. i’m kind of thinking a mix of both like Wildflower Wildfire, WW is technically a love song but she still drags miss Patty in it too
  6. i’ve been thinking, i wonder if the vinyl is going to have the 5 1/2 minute version of the title track. i actually think whatever was omitted from the song was omitted because BOZ said the album was just under 80 minutes, and the maximum amount a CD can hold is 79:30, so whatever was cut probably had to be. but even considering A&W is “well over 7 minutes”, we have 15-16 minutes on side A of the vinyl to spare still, she could probably stick the extra minute of the song on if she wanted to
  7. this is funny because i’m literally vegan 😭😭😭😭
  8. it’s literally her third best album but the people aren’t ready for that discussion yet
  9. the only song that Ocean Blvd really reminds me of is IYLDWM because both songs are in the same key and do have the same opening chord that is also played the exact same in both songs, but Ocean Blvd feels like an expansion of IYLDWM rather than a copy/paste or like there wasn’t any clear artistic growth between the songs
  10. looking forward to @Acid’s next dupe i love them i can look past the scat
  11. welcome to the pre-release thread it’s always the same discourse over and over again for every era 😭
  12. I also want to add that Ultraviolence is my favorite album, and I would love an Ultraviolence 2.0 with the lyric content of recent albums, but it’s worth noting that her and Dan weren’t necessarily the best mix. And I think the production on UV is something only Dan can really do, which is why there’s nothing else like it in Lana’s discog. Dan mentioned how much of a pain it was dealing with Interscope, and Lana has mentioned how they used to fight in the studio, I can see why both of them wouldn’t want to make another album together again
  13. I guess I don’t have a problem with people preferring old Lana and wanting her to experiment again with some of her past sounds, because I also prefer BTD-HM sonically for sure too, it was an era. I would love for her to do something like that again, but I don’t think it’s fair to expect that from her at this point and to be disappointed when that doesn’t happen. she’s not a pop star to the degree that Kylie Minogue, Madonna, and Beyoncé are, and she never has been. nothing she’s done for the last 4 years has even relatively insinuated that she is going to go back to that sound. i think at this point it’s most respectful to listen to your favorite albums, think “wow it would be really nice for her to do something like this again”, and then acknowledge and appreciate that this woman has never been one thing and is always evolving, and has also found collaborators that make her feel safe, unguarded, and comfortable
  14. I just talked about this a few hours ago but I think her lyrics these last few albums, especially on Blue Banisters, have been her most interesting anyway. I will take songs about postpartum depression, politics, reflection about herself/her career, interpersonal relationships, etc over “Kiss me in the D-A-R-K dark tonight” any day
  15. as much as it pains me to say this we need the tiktok kids to get her a sleeper hit instead of just using her as the blueprint for the “indie sleaze revival” or whatever they’re calling it… then maybe she’ll release something again. when’s the “it ain’t your right but that’s okay i’ll let you slide this one time” trauma dumping video trend starting
  16. Benji Lysaght! he’s played guitar on California, Thunder, and Black Bathing Suit, and then did some of the synths/sound effects on the Ocean Blvd title track, but I couldn’t find a producer credit for him anywhere so it looks like this will be his first time producing
  17. didn’t sky also get into a car crash on her way to one of her performances this year… like i’ve said someone or something literally cursed that woman
  18. i was extremely oversaturated with Lana last year after she released so much music so quickly that i wasn’t really checking for her as much around BB release i wasn’t active on here so i missed that discussion
  19. ALSO on top of that, I haven’t seen people talk about how Sweet Carolina is about Chuck experiencing/being afraid to experience postpartum depression, and it’s a love letter to her get through that. that’s a topic i’ve never really heard covered in a song before, it’s so beautiful
  20. i just mentioned this in the pre-release thread, but even though I don’t really like Blue Banisters sonically, I’ll never understand why people criticize her recent lyricism. it’s by far her best; it seems like almost all of the songs on that album were originally poems that she turned into songs, and they read exactly like that when you take away the parts that are clearly just there to make it flow better as a song. i wanted to give a few examples… read them like poetry, not like you’re singing along in your head Wildflower Wildfire Blue Banisters Text Book i think reading the lyrics like this will give people who aren’t necessarily fans of the songs a newfound appreciation. it sure did for me
  21. while Blue Banisters is my least favorite album of Lana’s music-wise, it’s without a doubt her best lyrically; the songs read like poetry I'm better with you, It's strange, but it's true, darling Not to turn into a wildfire To light up your night With only my smile and nothing that burns I'll be like a wildflower I live on sheer willpower I'll do my best never to turn into something That burns like the others makes me very excited for the writing on this album (and also very sad about Behind the Iron Gates)
  22. i had a dream a couple nights ago about that song and it was like “doesn’t it feel great to be the american whore” and it sounded like Black Bathing Suit mixed with Cruel World i’m a dreamer i dream a lot (literally)
  23. this had a chokehold on me in what like 2016? i was convinced it was LDR5’s title or at least a song title. i wonder if it was when a “Subversive” snippet randomly surfaces at some point then what. considering Dark City was in honeymoon’s bio 💀
  24. missing 3 weeks ago when i was too scared to go to bed because every time i did i missed new album news
