ALSO on top of that, I haven’t seen people talk about how Sweet Carolina is about Chuck experiencing/being afraid to experience postpartum depression, and it’s a love letter to her get through that. that’s a topic i’ve never really heard covered in a song before, it’s so beautiful

i just mentioned this in the pre-release thread, but even though I don’t really like Blue Banisters sonically, I’ll never understand why people criticize her recent lyricism. it’s by far her best; it seems like almost all of the songs on that album were originally poems that she turned into songs, and they read exactly like that when you take away the parts that are clearly just there to make it flow better as a song. i wanted to give a few examples… read them like poetry, not like you’re singing along in your head Wildflower Wildfire Blue Banisters Text Book i think reading the lyrics like this will give people who aren’t necessarily fans of the songs a newfound appreciation. it sure did for me

while Blue Banisters is my least favorite album of Lana’s music-wise, it’s without a doubt her best lyrically; the songs read like poetry I'm better with you, It's strange, but it's true, darling Not to turn into a wildfire To light up your night With only my smile and nothing that burns I'll be like a wildflower I live on sheer willpower I'll do my best never to turn into something That burns like the others makes me very excited for the writing on this album (and also very sad about Behind the Iron Gates)

i had a dream a couple nights ago about that song and it was like “doesn’t it feel great to be the american whore” and it sounded like Black Bathing Suit mixed with Cruel World i’m a dreamer i dream a lot (literally)

it’s so weird to me that they took the effort to block out the track list in the mock-ups on the website, it kinda makes me think that there’s going to be a fun interesting reveal but also that seems sort of out of character for lana at this point 😭 i have heard of track lists making it easier for hackers to get ahold of songs to leak though because they know what they’re looking for, which is also why taylor doesn’t announce her track lists until like a week or even less before her albums come out. so maybe they’re playing it safe and just doing that

why do y’all even come on this website if you are going to trash music we haven’t heard a single second of 😭 no matter what you’re not going to like the album when it comes out if you go into it already expecting to hate it and have very weird preconceived biases, that can’t be fun

i have a sinking feeling the album isn’t coming out next week she hasn’t said ANYTHING and i think it’s safe to assume there’s not a single coming this month like she said unless she drops tomorrow night i hope if it’s delayed it’s only by a few weeks and it at least still comes next month or early february

okay to be fair that Anna Nalick song/the songs that sound like it use a very common chord progression that for some reason lends songwriters to come up with the same melody for it over and over again, like You and I by Gaga for example and more recently Thoroughfare by Ethel Cain which uses the same melody too, and ik there are other songs like it as well that i can’t remember at the top of my head rn 😭 but that other song that sounds like MAC is actually kind of uncanny, same rhythm and everything…

okay actually woah i take back what I said about not agreeing with 13 Beaches being a good fit on NFR… i just listened to the album with 13 Beaches thrown in and it actually makes the album more cohesive in a weird way, it blends in nicely with the Jack tracks and gives more context to songs like Doin Time and TNBAR and even California that kind of sound out of place with everything else on the original track listing, and it makes the whole album work a little better. this is the only way i’ll be listening to NFR from now thank you

I love her music but Courtney as a person has kind of been a joke to me ever since she attacked a barely 18 year old Olivia Rodrigo for paying homage to her album cover on a TOUR POSTER when the album cover itself is a direct recreation of Carrie anyway

although I do remember Lana saying during the Blue Banisters livestream that she had never listened to the entire For the Roses album by Joni which surprised me because despite not being as popular as say Blue or Court and Spark, that album came out when Joni was at her peak. i can’t believe Lana possibly hasn’t heard Woman of Heart and Mind, she would eat that song UP

i don’t like to talk too much about lana’s personal life especially when it comes to dating because that’s not really my place BUT i did just want to say how nice it seems that lana is continuing to stay friendly with her more of her exes recently (Jack D, Mike, Barrie again). it seems like some of her previous relationships have ended pretty tumultuously considering we never saw or heard of a few men ever again after they split. i’m sure that’s nice for her :’)

courtney’s just mad because lana dated jack donoghue (courtney’s ex too), there’s no way lana was a part of the NYC music scenes she was without ever listening to joni

i would literally collapse to the floor if she sampled the outro also it’s plausible considering the “I want revenge” tangent she went on last year even though that was technically in reference to Rock Candy Sweet/Blue Banisters

when the last lyric on the album is the same as the first lyric of The Grants that will be iconic yep

if HBTB is the song she’s sampling that would actually be kind of cool, the PMIAM sample in that song, and then the HBTB sample in Swan Song, and then another HBTB sample in another song

would she have to credit them if it was just a quick melody sample though? considering i feel like she writes most of her melodies herself idk i guess that seems kind of redundant, although you’re probably right. it would be a really cool surprise to randomly get an interpolation of a BTD/UV/HM song though WAITTT REMEMBER WHEN @111 SAID HIGH BY THE BEACH WOULD BE IMPORTANT LATER
