Shades Of Cool starts off with lonely sounding guitars that builds up an eerie and intense atmosphere. Lana’s voice breaks through the mist with a fragile “My baby lives in… shades of blue.”
 
The song is written with a 6/8 time signature so just like Million Dollar Man there’s jazz/waltz influences, however much slower and stripped back with only guitars and her one layer of vocals during the verses.
 
The song slowly builds up during the pre-chorus. The guitar picking is then replaced with slow shimmering chords as Lana sings “he lives for love, he loves his drugs.” The pre-chorus flows slowly until she ends the section with “his strange weather….” and then a moment of silence.
 
The song breaks into a beautiful flowery 70s-inspired indie rock merry-go-round-esque chorus. The drums come in and the iconic Born To Die strings make a triumphant return. It’s hard not to imagine Lana spinning Stevie Nicks-style in a flower garden or on the beach when listening to this chorus. Piano notes twinkle in the background layers as Lana sings over the live instruments: “but you are invincible. I can’t break through your world.”
 
The music carries on into the second verse and pre-chorus. The electric guitars are even more present in the second chorus. The old school ‘wub wub wub’ of the guitar strings embellish the already beautiful vintage sounding chorus.
 
The song intensifies even further during the bridge. The song turns into a thunderous mass of electric guitar and loud drums. The chaotic bridge is wild enough to transport anyone back to the live rock concerts of the 70s. The fantastic guitar solo is sexy enough to have Lana grinding during her performance.
 
The music dies down at the end as Lana songs ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ as it fades into silence, presumably the solemn conclusion to the calm, wild, calm narrative of the song. This song is a great choice as a promotional single and is arguably many times better than West Coast.

It wouldn't surprise me. That plot sounds up her alley and she once posted on Facebook about another Brooke Shields film, The Blue Lagoon:

 
Note her use of the phrase "golden gods" which she uses in "West Coast".

So I'll be attending to my first Lana concert April 27 at Miami beach and I was wondering, what do people usually wear at her concerts? I was thinking about wearing high waisted floral shorts with a cute top (maybe a flower crown but idk if thats too basic?) idk I'm not sure, advice please?

i dont see why there are presumptions, if there are, that she's using old songs. maybe some people are afraid of new sounds or a new direction she may be taking but im sure it will be great.

you should take into consideration the fact that 'lana del rey' was the most googled woman of 2012. there seems to be an endless amount of national, local, and personal coverage on her every move across the infinite stretches of the "WWW". so sending us on a wild fucking duck hunt (   ) for an article that supports your singular, previously unheard of claim only makes you seem less than credible. (ps, your hostility certainly doesn't help either). you're the only one here thats been exposed to this supposed information. so why leave it up to us to find an article that we don't even believe to exist?  
 
until you come back with some kind of (hard) evidence you're just gonna continue to seem like a bit of an asshole tbh 

I don't think I've really been "touchy" about the subject. Maybe a little touchy about the fact that you got rather touchy just because people don't accept your novel claims without evidence. It's really lazy to make a claim that contradicts conventional wisdom and then tell people to search for it when questioned on it. Google it yourself and come back when you can support your claims with evidence.

Can you provide the receipts for this claim? I wouldn't be surprised if Lana is exaggerating somewhat when she says she wrote every word on BTD except one line from DMD, but I would be surprised if she doesn't write 90% of her lyrics and the majority of her melodies. What you're saying flies in the face of the understanding of some of the most knowledgeable and skeptical fans, not to mention the consistency of repeated themes and lines in her lyrics.
