I was re-reading this old interview with David Nichtern and noticed that he confirmed that Lana & 5 Points Records officially ended their deal on the 1st of April. https://web.archive.org/web/20120202073819/http://read.mtvhive.com/2012/01/30/lana-del-rey-first-album-5-points-records-interview/ The day after (April 2nd), she did did this shoot with Chuck. With this interview, it pretty much sums it up to be a freedom-statement shoot - she liberated herself.

I got reminded of the timeless classic "Heatwave" yesterday and ended up listening to the whole "Super Ultra" mixtape. I completely forgot how this particular track sounded, but after hearing it years later - it literally sounds like Charli did her best possible take on a Kali Uchis' sound and I laughed the whole time listening to it

So many things to say about this, but her paying homage to herself was the most full-circle moment I never expected from her. The fact that she doesn't look a day older than on the National Anthem music video set shook me to the core.
