  1. Okay, I didn't expect THIS! It's ... awesome! I love this psychedelic vibe.
  2. I'd love if Lana would speed it up a bit from MAC. VB sounds like a song which has to be faster and darker and even a bit sassy.
  3. Same. But I'm pleasantly surprised he likes MAC - maybe Lana will gain some more critical acclaim with her new works. Actually his review of the Lust for Life album was quite positive. (For a former Lana hater )
  4. So even Fontano thinks this new song is quite good. (And he's usually not a Lana supporter.)
  5. There hasn't been any big promo for this song, apart from the BBC Radio 1 interview so MAC is still pretty much "under the radar" I guess.
  6. #52 Germany The Germans just have the worst taste in music. No surprise here.
  7. It's a similiar situation to the "Honeymoon" video I guess.
  8. And the song did not leak early, wow, this time everything went as planned for Lana (or so it seems).
  9. I don't care if someone else already has listened MAC – only 90–120 minutes more to go and we all will know Lana's new song, yay!
  10. Tbh I expect MAC to be a mellow, slow song without happening a lot in it anyway (like Honeymoon (the song)), so I'm okay with the description.
  11. Of course Lana is totally unique but there are some songs of her (especially from Paradise, UV and HM) that fit perfectly between Mazzy Star and Portishead. But Lana's music catalog is quite different from those two artists I mentioned and Mazzy Star have never made music like the one you can hear on BTD, LFL etc. MS just have one style (slow guitar music with a desert feeling to it) while Lana has a wide range and a lot of influences (MS being one of them).
  12. You should add at least "Young and Beautiful" to the list, which reached the no. 1 spot in the US. As far as singles are concerned I'm not so sure since the lines seem to have blurred nowadays so you never know if a song is a "real" single or "just" a promo single ... or just a song.
  13. I'm hearing a vague reference to Fade Into You in Lana's new song but it doesn't really sound like FIY. I've always thought that Mazzy Star's music fits pretty well in the Lana universe anyway.
  14. The demo version of Diet Mountain Dew was the first Lana song I heard (in 2010). It got me interested in her but it wasn't until Blue Jeans came out one year later that I got really hooked to her music.

    Poppy

I think it's a matter of personal taste if something's overrated or not. My favourite song of her's is "Everybody wants to be Poppy", followed by a lot of her early cover versions when she still was Moriah/That Poppy. I'm not really into the kind of plastic pop she's making now although "Time is up" and "Interweb" are cute pop songs.
  16. Well Lana's still (quite) young so I hope she'll get at least some sort of personal growth out of the entire situation with this festival. I guess she's based her decision more on emotions than on hard facts or information she's having about the situation in Israel. But experiencing the backlash (on Twitter and elsewhere; probably in dicussions with people around her too), and going to Israel (or even Palestine) in person and seeing a bit of what's going on there might help her getting more conscious of her decisions in the future. Even Roger Waters himself played several times in Israel too before deciding to stop touring there so it took him a while to come to this conclusion. And if you consider that Radiohead have played there last year and Michael Stipe defended their decision (two artists who I always thought of being "politically woke") it's obvious that not everybody thinks that a boycott is the best way to deal with the situation. (I'm not saying that Radiohead and M. Stipe are right though.)
  17. Well at least you can see that a lot of artists performed there (even Roger Waters himself...) and that none of the artist's careers who played in Israel was "finished" afterwards because of their gigs. But it definitely would've been smarter of Lana to stay away from this whole (very complex) topic... But I'm happy for her fans in Israel that they finally can see her live. I'm wondering which places in the Middle East she'll go to next year – there are some more very "difficult" countries there so another backlash might be looming around the corner...
