Lana track that had you hooked?
CatchTheBreeze replied to Make me your Dream Life's topic in Lana Thoughts
The demo version of Diet Mountain Dew was the first Lana song I heard (in 2010). It got me interested in her but it wasn't until Blue Jeans came out one year later that I got really hooked to her music. -
I think it's a matter of personal taste if something's overrated or not. My favourite song of her's is "Everybody wants to be Poppy", followed by a lot of her early cover versions when she still was Moriah/That Poppy. I'm not really into the kind of plastic pop she's making now although "Time is up" and "Interweb" are cute pop songs.

Well Lana's still (quite) young so I hope she'll get at least some sort of personal growth out of the entire situation with this festival. I guess she's based her decision more on emotions than on hard facts or information she's having about the situation in Israel. But experiencing the backlash (on Twitter and elsewhere; probably in dicussions with people around her too), and going to Israel (or even Palestine) in person and seeing a bit of what's going on there might help her getting more conscious of her decisions in the future. Even Roger Waters himself played several times in Israel too before deciding to stop touring there so it took him a while to come to this conclusion. And if you consider that Radiohead have played there last year and Michael Stipe defended their decision (two artists who I always thought of being "politically woke") it's obvious that not everybody thinks that a boycott is the best way to deal with the situation. (I'm not saying that Radiohead and M. Stipe are right though.)

Well at least you can see that a lot of artists performed there (even Roger Waters himself...) and that none of the artist's careers who played in Israel was "finished" afterwards because of their gigs. But it definitely would've been smarter of Lana to stay away from this whole (very complex) topic... But I'm happy for her fans in Israel that they finally can see her live. I'm wondering which places in the Middle East she'll go to next year – there are some more very "difficult" countries there so another backlash might be looming around the corner...

Maybe an interesting read on this topic: "To perform or not to perform in Israel? Here’s how it went for 10 Western artists." https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2014/06/04/to-perform-or-not-to-perform-in-israel-heres-how-it-went-for-10-western-artists/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.a6296d103125

Well that's not true at all, Radiohead have a large following (and a lot of my friends like them). And many of them are (or at least consider themselves to be) critical minded and some kind of political so if a "politically aware" band like Radiohead can play in Israel (for a lot of times, not just in 2017) and still are considered as "serious artists" or whatever, Lana should survive that backlash by fans too. I'm not saying that I think she should go there and I don't think it's a very clever decision to play there (publicity wise) but people will eventually get over it...

So obviously there are a lot of pros and cons playing in Israel and it probably would've been wiser of Lana not to go there (just to avoid any uproar). But bands like Radiohead survived the backlash too (and smaller american bands like Of Montreal who are playing at the same festival as Lana don't seem to face such an amount of citicism?) and got support by other artists: https://pitchfork.com/news/michael-stipe-i-stand-with-radiohead-in-israel-concert-controversy/

For me (political) discussions on Twitter (or any other social media platform) are pretty much useless anyway. You can't win because the dumbest people with the loudest voices who have nothing else to do than argueing and fighting will always drag everyone down with them. And they will always find other people cheering them on for them being a pain in the ass... So it's just a waste of time.

I really do enjoy Lana twittering

I'm curious, why does playing in Israel means that Lana is turning her back on Jewish people in the US?

Something like this :
-
And it has some similiarities to this song too
-
Yes it's real, Lana herself posted it on her Twitter and Instagram accounts. (Or someone hacked her accounts )

http://pcmusic.info/ "PC Music is a record label and art collective based in London and run by producer A. G. Cook. It was founded and made its first song available on SoundCloud in 2013. The label is known for its surreal or exaggerated take on pop music, often featuring pitch-shifted, feminine vocals and bright, synthetic textures. Artists on its roster include Hannah Diamond, Life Sim, and Danny L Harle." I really hope Lana will never do that kind of music...

Tbh all of her albums so far have been album of the year.

Maybe they're just working together for a couple of songs or a single and not an entire album? It'll be interesting to hear the results of their studio sessions.

Yes! I sometimes make an iTunes playlist with songs from Lana, Portishead, Massive Attack and Mazzy Star and it flows so well! Imagine Lana's voice with the darkness of Portishead's music, this would be incredible.

I do still listen to the album frequently, it's perfect especially with these high temperatures. But I make a "personal mix" out of it – I only play songs 1–6, 9–11 and 14–16 (and add "B.A.R."). This way it's flawless and I enjoy it a lot. But, yes, for the next album I'd love to see Lana doing a more coherent sound (and not adding so many collabs!).

Thank you! Missed a lot of them the first time around.

The new Mylène single to me is her worst single ever! I can't stand it at all. I really hate it that she sounds like a shallow radio pop singer now after being a dark and mysterious "black widow" in the 80's and 90's...
