I remembered another one! In Diet Mtn Dew, there where she sings "Baby, put on heart shaped sunglasses" I heard "Baby, put on chips on glasses" (wut?)

I confess that, before I became Lana's fan, I'd thought her song "She's Not Me" was a cover of Madonna's song . Somehow I was sure it was (come on, BTD and AKA songs don't sound like that...) and I saw on some lyrics website Madonna had a song with such a title. I didn't bother to check the lyrics. And I don't really like her stuff so you see, I don't know her songs >.< .

Oh, and "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?" ("Moi je joue") is also a widely known phrase. Not too sure what its very orgin is but it has a pretty interesting story - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voulez-vous_coucher_avec_moi%3F .

For me Lana and Mylene are absolute mistresses of the art of music videos and no one can compare to them. Of course, they both have some worse ones but if they create something good, it's very good indeed (or "fucking gorgous", to quote EA). "Born To Die", "National Anthem", "Ride", "Tropico", "Plus grandir", "Libertine", "Sans contrefaçon", "Pourvu qu'elles soient douces", "Sans logique", "Désenchantée", "Beyond My Control", "Que mon cœur lâche", "California", "Comme j'ai mal", "L'Âme-stram-gram", "Je te rends ton amour", "C'est une belle journée"...

"Ultraviolence" of course but also Alizée's new album (whose name remains unknown) which is supposed to be released this (!) spring but I think it'll be hard for her to have finished it by the end of 2014. Plus, if that rumour is true - Mylene Farmer's album, created in collaboration with Muse.

Lana's Inspirations & Influences
Jazzmin replied to lanakissmeinyourchevrolet's topic in Lana Thoughts
She likes Mark Ryden's paintings. (Like she said here, they "drive her crazy"). -
In "Playground" she quotes a nursery rhyme : "Rain, rain go away now / Come again another day in the game now" "Moi je joue"... (taken from the orginal version by Brigitte Bardot)

Yes, I think it's this kind of word play. I wanted to list those lyrics, even if we shouldn't take them literally. -
LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
Jazzmin replied to Sitar's topic in Lana Thoughts
I don't think "Dark Paradise" is strongly suicidal, rather it has some slight suggestion: "But I wish I was dead". That means she has started thinking about her own death as a possible solution but nothing further. If she were reflecting on it seriously, there would be more hints or direct confessions. She does hallucinate and is insane but it does not automatically mean she's planning to kill herself. I totally go for "Jump" as an example. These lyrics: "Was the last thing I saw before I died / Right line, right man / Right mixture of cocaine and heroin" IMO CLEARLY indicates overdosing on purpose. If it were an accident, the mixture wouldn't be called right. And before that, she says she's died. "Summertime Sadness" is the clearest one I know. She describes how it feels when she's about to take her life. (It's likely by jumping off some high place, like in the music vid. The lyrics do not tell directly but it's what fits the most.) Yet eventually she decides to keep living- "Even if you're gone, I'm gonna drive, drive". And songs that mention the word directly: "Suicide's her [Heaven's] father" ("Body Electric"), "And I'm your suicide blonde", "Are we gonna be true love suicide?" ("Live or Die"), "I'm your real life suicide blonde" ("She's Not Me"). -

Little Lana things which you find funny or amusing
Jazzmin replied to Lirazel's topic in Lana Thoughts
Her songs about being happy in love like "Never Let Me Go" or "Lucky Ones". In the context of all her sadcore stuff, they're just so touching. Without this context they would be of less importance, I think. -
I guess I know only one - "Light of my life, fire of my loins" (from "Lolita"), used by Lana in "Off To The Races". Damnly obvious, I know... Are there any other quotes from poems/songs/novels/movies/other cultural stuff in Lana songs?

How would you react if Lana decided to create this?
Jazzmin replied to CarcrashBandicoot's topic in Lana Thoughts
I think it's possible one day (not very soon, though) she will re-release her older stuff, especially Sirens and LDRAKALG. Not right now because, as you said, she'd rather keep her pre-fame works away from everyone but one's views change with passing time and on day she may wish to show them to the world, even if they do not relate to her life anymore - like Emilie Autumn who re-released Enchant in her early Opheliac era. Lest Lana changes her mind, I'm OK with her preference of not releasing her bygones. I also think if LDRAKALG were re-released, there would be at least a slight chance people would aprove it, despite of what you say. It'd be a nice surprise and I'd get my faith in humanity again. Absolutely no taking anything for granted but people can surprise you, in France Mylène Farmer at the beginning of her career would record dark gothic stuff about death and sadness, as a mainstream musician o_O . Would be harder with Sirens, though. I guess people, except her fans, would not be interested at all as you gotta know Lizzy's life to enjoy it .__. . But! I was to answer the question... Of course I'd buy them both if I had such a possibility. If you can choose only one, I'd probably go for the orginal versions as I guess I'd prefer them than the newer ones - the way I do with "Yayo" versions. -
