I'm so shocked. As some of you may know, I live in Berlin and some good friends of mine (and actually me too) where at that specific place just a bit before the attack happened. It's absolutely terrifying. What is happening in this world? 9 innocent people died, even more got injured. But do you know what'll be just as bad as this? The refugees are gonna be blamed for it, once again. My school has refugee classes where I have volunteered a few times before, and it breaks my heart that these innocent people who already had to go through this much terror are gonna be portrayed as the culprits.

I like this thread. It's about how you changed your mind rather than your current thinking.

When I was first introduced to her music I didn't like it at all, I was bitter that she had won the BRIT awards over cat power (lol). Obvs now I love her

Now that that thought came through my mind... Is it possible Lizzy was in some way influenced by the infamous case of Roman Polanski? After all, AKA was recorded in roughly 2008, I believe, and that was also the period when Polanski's issue was refreshed.

What more did "Pacify Her" give you, if I may ask? I'm just curious

THIS! I liked the storyline a freaking lot!

Well, I think she just had an idea for each and every track, leaving aside the question of whether they would be good. And maybe strange thing to say, but I kind of like the mere fact that she managed to pursue the decision to shoot a video for every track. I mean, not so many musicians would do that, would they? Dunno, it's just hard to put it into words... Anyway, I don't think the quantity has affected negatively the quality in Melanie's case... (And sure, I like some vids more than others just like everybody else, I guess.)

Is it in a different direction from the last time?

"Yeah... but I don't know if you'd really know 'cause it has more to do with just like...I don't know... a clarity of inner dialogue that I feel is coming through better."

    How about music?

"It's kinda in the same aesthetic."

    Hey, guys.
I searched but didn't find a topic discussing this, so I decided to open one up. Do you guys know Sylvia Plath? She was an American poet and novelist from the 20th Century. Her work is really reflexive, melancholic and says so much of what Lana atests, I bet the reads her hahaha. She has way with words that is almost as touching as Lana songs to me. If you like poetry and are unaware of her writings, check it out.

Here is a poem that I'm very fond of. Hope you like it
She wrote it when she was 14 years old.

I thought that I could not be hurt by Sylvia Plath

    "I thought that I could not be hurt;
I thought that I must surely be
    impervious to suffering-
    immune to pain
    or agony.

My world was warm with April sun
    my thoughts were spangled green and gold;
my soul filled up with joy, yet
felt the sharp, sweet pain that only joy
    can hold.

My spirit soared above the gulls
    that, swooping breathlessly so high
o'erhead, now seem to to brush their whir-
ring wings against the blue roof of
    the sky.

(How frail the human heart must be-
a throbbing pulse, a trembling thing-
    a fragile, shining instrument
of crystal, which can either weep,
    or sing.)

Then, suddenly my world turned gray,
and darkness wiped aside my joy.
A dull and aching void was left
where careless hands had reached out to
    destroy

    my silver web of happiness.
The hands then stopped in wonderment,
for, loving me, they wept to see
the tattered ruins of my firma-
    ment

(How frail the human heart must be-
a mirrored pool of thought. So deep
    and tremulous an instrument
of glass that it can either sing,
    or weep)."

P.S.: If somehow I violated the site rules or posted it in the wrong place, forgive me (and tell me about it hahaha)!
I'm still having a little trouble getting used to the community

I'm not sure if it'll really do anything, but never say never, so I'm going to drop it here anyway.
If anything, it certaintly makes a good point that the electoral college doesn't HAVE to elect DT if they don't want to.
Spread it around, maybe something good will happen.

    Don't try to gaslight people's fears. There are very real threats to a lot of our safety. In 2 months we're going to have a government run by people who are anti-gay, anti-trans anti-choice anti-Islam anti-Latinx anti-Black anti-Native  anti-women, pro-pipeline, pro-conversion, pro-war, pro-racial profiling...
We were just starting to make progress and all of that could be taken away. Just because something isn't going to personally effect you or your country doesn't mean these aren't real threats. Trump preaches an anti-Islam rhetoric extremely similar to the anti-Jewish rhetoric that nearly killed my entire family. Don't try to tell me with the full power of the government he can't cause a lot of harm.
