How did I not see Hysteria and On The Level as the best on first listen? These two are the ones I've actually had on repeat. Honestly they are some of her best songs. On The Level goes back to the old poppy style (which is nice but I still give more support to Mars when it comes to that....), and Hysteria is so gorgeous and really hits hard.
  2. Yeah thats so true! All of her other songs are instant classics. I still love A Pretty Place (track) because the chorus goes OFF, but I still haven't bothered with the rest of the EP again
  3. Fallen Star is great! It really takes me back to their older bluesy style. It's good to have a song that I wanna play on repeat again because I only still play Devils Advocate and Middle of Somewhere from their last.
  4. Okay I actually can't get these colours out of my mind! Something about the red with that green seems really 60s to me. The colour of her hair too. It's flawless!

The only reason I could criticise the lyrics is because I'm reading them right off the bat, instead of listening to the song 50 times to figure them out like I usually have to with Grimes
  6. Fine China, Ultraviolence (especially the demo and the first live performance), The Blackest Day, Dark Paradise (stereotypically, but it still is melancholic), Terrence Loves You, HIADTFAWLMTH (even though it attempts to life it at the end), Old Money (that one personally feels most melancholy to me)
  7. The film is shot beautifully, and I actually enjoyed the very little talking. It felt less forced than what I remember with K-12. And it felt more of like a personal testament to what she's been through in her life and how she feels moving forward (and it's very dark), which reminds me of how Tropico felt to me. Sorry to compare all these music films that aren't in the slightest related, but these are like the only ones ive seen. Yet at the same time I kinda dont' get it. I can't wait for some reviews so I can read what people take from it, or interviews that I haven't come across yet. But even though I don't get it, I like the ending! I think the start and the ending were the best, with the middle part kinda meh. The bath scene near the beginning was gorgeous. Honestly my favourite part. I really appreciate having the album released with that amount of time in advance to me seeing it, because it let me develop such a liking to it on it's own.
  8. I only just realised that the Doin Time single on spotify is a clean version where she sings "treats me like (ahh ahhhh)" instead of "treats me like shit"
  9. Honeymoon is the soundtrack of Heaven. God streams Honeymoon and so should you
  10. Hello Ultraviolence stans, I just wanna preach for a minute or 2 about Dan Auerbach's/The Black Keys album Turn Blue which was released May 2014 just before UV. Although I don't think many people have connected the two albums, I truly believe there are some good similarities that Dan really brought across to Ultraviolence. It may have been his mood that brought it across as he was going through a divorce, and that mood just happened to work extremely well with what Lana had been writing about. The fact that it's called Turn Blue, which is a title we could 100% expect from Lana herself, is telling. Genre: psychedelic rock, blues rock Taken from wiki: "The sessions coincided with Auerbach's divorce from his wife, which inspired much of the album's lyrics. The resulting material was more melancholy and slower paced than the uptempo, hook-laden songs from El Camino" "instead of focusing on radio-friendly singles, they would attempt to make a "headphone record"." does this not sound like Ultraviolence? Most of the songs were kind of made up on the spot in the studio, which also reminds me of the way Ultraviolence was recorded with the band and Lana's vocals. The album also sounds ageless, that old but new sound that Ultraviolence had. Instrumentally, I hear strong similarities/throwbacks to the Ultraviolence sound throughout the album, particularly in Weight of Love. The minute and a half intro of that song is 100% something I can imagine Dan and Lana playing before going in to record something for UV. In fact the bell-chime sound even reminds me of Angel Tears by Barrie O'Neil, which is a song undoubtedly about Lana, of which all unfolded during the Ultraviolence era. So yeah, if you only listen to one song on this album, let it be Weight of Love. Bullet in the Brain and Waiting on Words also give me that same mood that Ultraviolence does in that melancholy violence, while pushing extreme freedom. Also 10 Lovers has that West Coast synth- yes that was Dan's genius move! I honestly didn't find this album until last year, and I can't help but think that if I had discovered it upon its release in 2014, it would have been the perfect companion to Ultraviolence. I envy anyone who did get to experience it like this! I also think it's cool how Ultraviolence is like the b&w side of the coin while Turn Blue explores the colourful side, yet they still sound like one. I need the vinyl asap.

Realiti demo is still THAT song
  12. I only just found out about Angry
  13. I got tickets for the 48 hour streaming! I hadn't streamed the album much since the release until a few days ago and I'm back on the train now
  14. I agree, but I think I would have a different opinion if I had found Lana in her AKA era and gotten used to that version of Yayo. I think a page or so back someone said the deepness of her voice in the Paradise version was forced and unnatural, and I can definitely see that, but it's what is very appealing to me at the same time. The forcing sounds purposeful and very dynamic imo, like she's carrying the rest of the song with it. On the contrary, AKAs Yayo vocals seem sound like the instrumental is the first melody, then her vocals are following. I actually did hear the AKA version of Yayo first, at the same time as discovering her through Born To Die, and I immediately could tell it was an older song with a different vocal style to the BTD style. So for that reason, I always found the AKA version to sound like a demo, and with the Paradise version being more true to her BTD sound, that's the one I clung to and started really liking. But I just love the song so much, I can applaud anyone for saying either version is one of her best songs.
  15. I hate that in the title of this thread "OUT" is capitalised because every time I see it I expect it to say "OUT NOW"
  16. Not attached to the dress but the whole look is so flawlessly paired I can see why it would look like that! https://www.instagram.com/p/CUPJXDhLAiu/?utm_medium=copy_link I expect this wonderful account will find and post the sweater cardigan soon!

I will definitely be listening every day! I think I like half of it the same as I Disagree, but it's also a shorter album so I can't really say. Lesson the Damage Flux and Her are my favourites. The end half of Never Find My Place is amazing too.

In her Spotify playlist "Poppy's Complete Collection", the only songs from pre- I Disagree that she includes are Scary Mask and X... Interesting!
  20. I was about to come here to say it doesn't really apply anymore as she has had many longer song titles in the last few years, but then I remembered it does still apply to at least 3 songs on each of her newer albums I clicked several times and what stood out was Ketamine Boheme, Manson Daddy, Downtown Seance. The songs we wish we got on LFL.
  21. I didn't realise they were still there! I lost track of them when their old account got deleted. So glad. They're super nice, they helped me find dupes for something even though they must get a million requests.
  22. That's so lucky you got to see that live on the endless summer tour! Aka, her best. And omg I hope you're in a much better place now ♡
