  1. That's not weird at all because it's true! Also, when someone says "woman" in a song, the media expects that to mean whatever she's saying must be representative for all women, which is why there's such a difference in Lana saying girls in MTWBT vs woman in HIADTFAWLMTH.
  2. Oh yeah I'm off topic too, and a whole week late... but it probably is just a language thing. The way the English language uses "girls" really is just different. Tbh it probably is a cultural thing and condescending (e.g. calling grown women girls as if they still don't have the right to be respected as an adult human being....), but if we want to keep using the term "girls" I think it's not totally a bad or distasteful thing. I see nothing wrong with feeling young and wanting to remain like your youthful self.
  3. I'm 25 and I'm really just transitioning out of calling myself a "girl". I think it's obviously better to call us from 18 and above what we are- women, but I'm not gonna go and say that it's our own fault we get sexualised for calling ourselves girls if we still feel too young (relating to previous lolita comment, not yours).
  4. True, people definitely would have twisted it, especially since (I could be wrong and embarass myself here) the song was about Sean. Yet I still would have preferred it. It sounded so blissful and it was exactly what I wanted.
  5. I was gonna say that, but Lana's vocals were still beautiful and we got all those demos
  6. The Weeknds part of the video is amazing. I really thought an FKA Twigs and The Weeknd collab would be a better song tho. It really would have gone off for me if it was ethereal like Prisoner or something. It doesn't really show the best of either of them.
  7. So the karmic lineage thing- that's about her family having a history with owning people as slaves or something was it? Im not sure if lana has really stated that or just implied. I wonder if it was on her mother's side or if indeed it has anything to do with her not liking her mother. If anyone knows a bit more about it, please do spill! (In an informative way, not a gossip way)
  8. A rock album with Dan Auerbach Miles Kane and Tom Morello, ft. more yelling vocals
  9. Been listening to NTMT so much this year. I Blame Myself, HMH and Nobody Asked Me were in my top 50 Spotify, as they pretty much always are.
  10. Scissorhands was my #5 song on Spotify this year
  11. Californyeah Where'd you get these btw? Is it an interview I need to catch up on? (Edit: I did a quick search and there's even more than 18 song titles going around, still don't know where they came from tho!) Dancing with a hurricane sound so cool.
  12. List of things we know about the album from interviews (for those who don't have time to watch). I swear I'm just typing the whole interview though cause she just GIVES non-stop. It's pop punk and upbeat, "fast and in-your-face", and she says fans will love it The most alternative record from front-to-back that she's made. She's been avoiding ballads this time The one ballad on the album is called Dare To Love Me, which she first didn't want included but her team said she should. This is a solo piano ballad about being cautious in a new relationship. Bite Me is the first single, the second single will be in January 2022 The album will come out "at the top of 2022" There is a song called Love Sucks, which started the album process and themes The album will mostly sound "angsty" like the songs she wrote in her teen years- this time being about everything she's been through in her love life During the album process, writing about love, she also fell in love and entered a new relationship (with MOD SUN), so there are some more positive songs included on the album There's a song called Kiss Me Like The World Is Ending, about her with MOD SUN at Malibu. Live guitars and drums are the biggest part of this album, being rock and pop punk, as Avrils previous label told her to tone down for radio appeal. She's also not holding back with the lyrics either (I'm assuming swearing) She's worked with Travis Barker, John Feldman, MOD SUN and Machine Gun Kelly for this album (or at least during this album period), and there are a few features that she chose not to name yet.
  13. I think if it's a pop punk album, there's not way it won't be one of her best. She said it's really upbeat too, ahhh she's coming MGK featuring in a song too, and obviously Travis Barker.
  14. Trench crushes me. The lyrics kill me. Only a few songs have stuch from Scaled and Icy but I LOVE them nonetheless
  15. Absolutely do it! You know about her few unreleased I'm guessing
  16. Gaslight is the only one I don't like too. And I'm not sure why, I usually like that style of song. I agree that Maggie's latest music is more authentic pop punk. Maggie's music goes perfectly with every sort of pop punk/emo playlist I make. I'm obsessed with Avril Lavigne again (not that I ever stopped, but now that she's making another punk pop album it feels more than justified), and I can't wait for her new music + Maggie's music to be at the front of my most on-repeat songs.
  17. I love how she's made us all get interested in so many things that she likes. How she's been so specific with her style and interests that we've copied it and other Lana fans have picked it up that we got it from her. Like for fucks sake, she made me try out wearing caps.
  18. Also, I am very happy to see in the poll that BBS, Dealer, Thunder and IYLDWM are leading I am for once in agreement with most of yall thank you fuck my stupid life
  19. Wait has anyone talked about how the Dealer leaked demo/whatever had those strings at the end and the Album version doesn't? I loved those strings, and how they were 'off-tune'. They warped me into heaven.
  20. I haven't been a movies person for a long time, so my favourites are mostly movies i saw before the age of 15, especially the ones with female protagonists (nearly all). No order except the top 4 are definitely my faves. Ginger Snaps The Love Witch The Witch Annihilation Sleepy Hollow Black Swan Avatar Scott Pilgrim vs The World The Crow Jennifer's Body The Sisterhood of Night Alice in Wonderland (1951) Gone Girl Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron American Mary Not quite 20 because I've taken out a few that I know now are very problematic or have a certain domestic abuser in the lead role (A**** H****)
  21. Unlike nfr and cocc, This album has become so special for me to come back to when I don't listen for a week or so. Violets for Roses and If You Lie Down With Me made me feel so at peace yesterday, after my cat died the day before.
  22. For most of the year I couldn't listen to COTCC (track) because when it was released I was going through something scary and I didn't want to remember it with such detail, but I overcame it after several months. During a lot of 2013 I couldn't listen to BTD (track) or Blue Jeans because the guy who I so strongly associated those with broke up with me. It might have been 6 months or more until I listened again. I think the only song I avoid currently is Venice Bitch, because I can't listen without thinking of exactly the time it was released where I was "okay" and "had it together" but at the same time didn't really like myself or know who I was, and that is just scary for me to look back on because that song was like a fake freedom to me back then.
  23. If you'd like a version of Coachella that makes sense:
  24. They did make a mess out of Freak. Even the guitar part was a mess. They should have started over and tried harder to line up the instruments and vocals because the song being so out of time is my biggest problem, even tho it's literally my favourite song from Honeymoon.
  25. Oh I agree with Blue Bannisters too! Maybe if the atmosphere of the last chorus was brought up to the first chorus (because it's beautiful), then the strings and brass were added in the last chorus!
