  1. I did a blog post here, putting the timeline together of this albums creation. I put pictures in wherever I could, like studio photos, etc. Also links to some of the interviews. I'd love to go back and keep updating whenever I come across more info.
  2. I can understand why some people think there are fillers, because the vibe of some of the songs is a bit monotone and repetative. But because NTMT was 100% a sound I loved completely, I love every single song without failure. From the B-Sides too. In fact it was so solid that I've found I've never really wanted a NTMT 2.0, because I got everything I wanted already

    Grimes

Wow I am so grateful the Realiti demo survived. It's probably my favourite song of Grimes. I remember Grimes also saying they scrapped the album (before Art Angels) because they didn't want to go in that direction anymore. Maybe both are true (the files were lost and they didn't want to go ahead with them anyway)?
  4. I love Don't Forget, and I love how her vocals have changed. Its clearly her, but at the same time i cant believe it, if that makes sense. I don't think it's an easy comparison to her older music at all. I also listened to Don't Forget in amongst the other songs we have (not sure on the current knowledge of whether they'll be on the album or not) and everything sounds so solid! I think this will be a great album.

    Grimes

It's true i really cant compare them despite loving them all. I have my preferences but I'm not going to die on a hill saying that one or two are definitively better than the rest in all ways. I think I just put halfaxa and visions and geidi primes on a pedestal because so many people are unable to appreciate what grimes used to be! She has always been this good, musically, she just used to be more underground.
  6. THIS they literally give what she's currently up to no time of day. It's like those who will only post Kate Moss in the 90s and be like "goals!" Like um, unsustainable unrealistic goals, but go off

    Grimes

I remember when Honeymoon was released Grimes was tweeting her live reactions, it was so nice. I recall her going wild over Art Deco.
  8. Idk, I found it much more enticing when she would tell us about the album and we got no snippets besides an album trailer. It made listening to Ultraviolence and Honeymoon for the first time all the more surprising and wonderfully confusing. Maybe it's also because those albums didn't leak so early.
  9. Tbh, this album was the most Lana album since Honeymoon. If this was the release after Honeymoon I'd have absolutely zero criticism about her music and it would have made perfect sense tbh. Realistically, it's stupid and pointless to imagine that, but like, IMAGINE THAT

    Melanie Martinez

That is so sad but also I'm laughing
  11. Woah I only just saw the thing about Lana being influenced by Carl Jung for this album
  12. When I read this, something with dark old hollywood vibes and In My Feelings vocals comes to mind. Kinda like the instrumentals in Violet, or the intro of 13 Beaches
  13. I will take any and every opportunity for a 2013/2014 throwback.
  14. I've tried doing the exact same thing multiple times and it doesn't work I really wish I could tho.
  15. I'm starting to really think it's the base and strings missing. And no, Lana's songs don't require base and/or strings to be amazing songs, but they definitely give the depth. Then again, I also understand they were not going for that depth. But since I always associated her music with depth and texture, I can't see NFR as free and breezy, I can only see it as lacking. Edit: I think your use of the word "alchemy" is perfect!
  16. He does that on purpose to make it sound "unexpected", which he thinks translates to genius. A while ago, someone on here shared soundcloud links to Jack talking about the production in The Greatest and if i recall correctly, he talks about it in that. (Here's the short version- not sure if this cuts it out tho https://youtu.be/fWkf0KCRbGg). When I was listening to the full version, I could almost begin to appreciate Jack's thought process and production as he explained it all, but then when I listened to The Greatest again, I really couldn't pick up his "genius"... There is such a contrast in what people think about NFR, it's almost like the Laurel vs Yanny thing, where both might be correct. Its either her best or her worst and no in between..
  17. Gave the album a first listen! I really like about half the songs, and im definitely going to let the rest grow on me. There were multiple moments that almost gave me shivers.
  18. The dancing vid made me smile and nearly cry tbh. That's so nice! Oh damn, good thing she didn't burn him. Imagine being burnt by Lana Del Rey's cigarette tho
  19. Yikes x 10, that is a shame! Hopefully Lana grows up to have taste
  20. My young cousin, who is now 4, is called Alana, but Lana for short (she was named for Lana Turner actually) and I will 100% do the same.
  21. So I did what any lana stan would do and looked through all of the photoshoots from the Ultraviolence and Honeymoon era. Our girl almost exclusively wore red nails for 2 years straight! Even 3 probably if we look back into the Paradise era, but I think she switched it up a bit more then Absolutely iconic.

    Grimes

I think ive lost it at this https://www.nme.com/en_au/news/film/grimes-says-she-was-fired-from-working-on-promoting-dune-as-an-influencer-3181753 It just gets stranger and stranger but she's acting like she's evolving.
