Lana at Da I Gemelli & Baccerini in Portofino, Italy - May 12th, 2022
Ultra Violet replied to Elle's topic in Sightings
The dancing vid made me smile and nearly cry tbh. That's so nice! Oh damn, good thing she didn't burn him. Imagine being burnt by Lana Del Rey's cigarette tho -
Yikes x 10, that is a shame! Hopefully Lana grows up to have taste
-
My young cousin, who is now 4, is called Alana, but Lana for short (she was named for Lana Turner actually) and I will 100% do the same.
-
So I did what any lana stan would do and looked through all of the photoshoots from the Ultraviolence and Honeymoon era. Our girl almost exclusively wore red nails for 2 years straight! Even 3 probably if we look back into the Paradise era, but I think she switched it up a bit more then Absolutely iconic.

I think ive lost it at this https://www.nme.com/en_au/news/film/grimes-says-she-was-fired-from-working-on-promoting-dune-as-an-influencer-3181753 It just gets stranger and stranger but she's acting like she's evolving.

I love to hear that! I still have my shuffle, ipod nano and ipod touch. Love them all, even tho the touch is unusable due to a smashed screen. I've updated my nano from time to time with new music, but I love leaving the shuffle exactly as it was since like 2009. I'm not sure why I never had the classic ipod, but the nano was seriously my favourite one.

Thats so great to hear! I was under the impression that the entire lawsuit thing (if it's the one with poppy & titanic u mean) got dropped and settled privately. Maybe there is hope for most of the songs to make their way to Spotify.

Alphabet Boy sing-along video appreciation! Going to show it to my kids and tell them this was Sesame Steeet

Which LDR song table are you sitting at?
Ultra Violet replied to PatentLeatherDoOver's topic in Games
Group 1: blue or pink, I can't decide Group 2: def brown! Happily, no complaints. -
I'm so happy Angry is out a complete serve, even though i heard it ages ago, im so glad she did this!!!! It gives me so much hope. I never knew anything about the legal stuff but for some reason I thought she may have had to come back under a different name. It makes sense if the old songs will never be out for streaming because ik half belongs to that sinking boat. But yeah, I'm just so glad she can move on and do what she needs and own all of her creative work from now on.

Supreme Court draft opinion would overturn Roe v. Wade
Ultra Violet replied to baddisease's topic in World News
Yes they probably do realise it but they really just want to punish women and would likely think someone going through an unsafe abortion deserves whatever harm and complications they receive from it, and then would be happy imprisoning them too. It's so fucked up, they are all lying to themselves if they think this gives justice to the foetuses they literally couldn't give 2 shits about once they are born and grow up. -
The only shirt I got was on her Surf Shop, but it was the exact same style. It ran BIG. I got either a small or medium, expecting it to be womens sizing and it was like a men's Large honestly.

I love this gif. We need it in our Lanaboards emojis!

Its her bone structure which is easier to see with 'dry' facial flesh as shes gotten older. It's pretty unique to Sky, because she doesn't have sharp qualities everywhere. But in this image, you'll see she has more of the Dramatic face on the left (probably mixed with blunt/natural)
-
I'm late, so forgive me if the last 5 pages are more of the same as what I'm saying. I think what makes her look "aged" is literally just the bone structure of her face. Her face is naturally more more dry in terms of flesh. Look more into Kibbe body types if you want to know about that kind of thing (bone structure, how flesh looks over bones- soft vs dry). The makeup on her eyelids also doesn't do a good job of "opening up" her eyes, but she's always been into that kind of look anyway. In some photos it's just the camera that got her eyes half blinking. She looks like a different person. But in others, she looks fabulous! Exactly how I'd expect her to look 10 years since NTMT. Her hair looks the best it's ever looked too!
-
Wow she looks beautiful. I want to see more of her hair with the brown underneath. I'm obsessed!

Lana arriving to Churchome in Beverly Hills, CA - April 27th, 2022
Ultra Violet replied to ImenaOphelia's topic in Sightings
Her hair is perfect. If my hair looked that good I might also go to churches so that everyone there can test their hold against the 4th deadly sin about it. -
I need to remind myself of the absolute serves we got in K-12 tbh.

Thanks for sharing this! Even the start of the article itself is brilliant. It makes me realise that while EH and BTD are both part of the 2012 2013 tumblr depression grunge blah blah era, EH was actually MUCH more in your face with the suicide, I wanna be skinny, "I will romanticise every bad thing". Tbh tho I've never read reviews about Marinas work tho, so maybe I just missed her acknowledgement till now. I don't want to start this whole discussion believe me so dont come at me, but I'm also realising how much more unfairly Lana has been treated because of her lyrics when Marina literally glamorised eds It's refreshing for once to see an article written by someone who WAS in the thick of that era, and speaks from the experience of how they saw it, not just some older millennial white woman claiming that such an album destroyed our generations selfworth or some shit. Love this part especially "It is a space of solidarity for women because there was nothing I or my fellow teenage girls on Tumblr could do but laugh and revel in our own mess and madness, shedding the inherent shame, guilt, insecurity, and negativity that comes with being a young woman."

We're the same age! Listening to CB at 18 and 19 felt therapeutic in a way. Despite the childish themes, the darkness is not suitable for literal children so I think 15-19 was the best age for CB listeners. The themes felt more personal too. Kinda like what you were saying before, K-12 dropped many of the dark uncomfortable references and swapped it for F bombs . The whole album felt more "fuck the system" , whereas CB was more "fuck what you did to me personally". I think i could have ADORED k-12 if i had been 13-16, while still in the schooling system. Sometimes I wish I could go back to enjoy it but that's not how life works. We move on
-
I always wonder if it is how long we wait between releases that played a part in our expectations for something a bit more evolved. But even tho Afterschool WAS more evolved and released not too long after K-12, I still wasnt obsessed with it like I should have been. I think ive also moved on from her as an artist. Im pretty much waiting for her next release to prove that to me. I think she's dropping a good amount of the baby/child aesthetic now and moving into more of a pastel vintage ethereal look which I like, yet I'm still not really here for it either.
-
The weird lyricism literally did age badly though. I'm not saying I'd want to cancel her but I'm sure others would if songs like tag you're it were released today. Tolerance is really low these days for everything. Just because you wouldn't say it aged badly, it doesn't mean I'm wrong for thinking it did
-
Aged badly = if it was released today, most of the lyrics would not stand well Outgrown = regardless, I'm too old for such music now anyway It's not that deep babe. Thats just my interpretation so you can take a breath.

I am so shook, i cannot believe its literally 10 years of Electra Heart. Only 9 for me but that's still so hard to comprehend. Lies was that song I first got addicted to. It was so powerful discovering that album.
