  1. I can definitely see why they changed 1121 for the final version to get the message across more, but the demo has that energy that You asked for this/People dissappear here has, which is honestly my favourite vibe from Halsey. Im SO glad they changed Honey to a rock song. I cannot say it would have been a top track for me if it had remained like its demo. I feel neutral about the Lilith demo, but I do think I like the album one better, surprisingly, because I thought it was pretty dull on first listen. This whole album process is really fascinating tbh, like some of the tracks were more rock in their demos then changed more electronic/pop (?), then some were changed to be less rock from their demos. I remember hearing that they changed a lot of the production to get the lyrics across more and I agree with every single choice that was made. I wish we could have heard the Girl Is A Gun demo, because that was one of the demos where she said the production changed a lot.
  2. Omg that distinct 2011-2012 dubstep remix sound It wasn't this one but this is so unique! Wish I'd discovered it back then too. And thanks for finding that for me <3
  3. In 2012 or 2013 I found a remix of Carmen on YouTube that I listened to ALL the time. It used the acapella demo vocals, and since that was before I even knew about that demo, this remix just blew my mind! I was never able to find it again and I've tried searching from time to time I do remember it had an edit of picture as the thumbnail tho
  4. You saying we will all have to send topless pics?
  5. As much as I thought there's no way it would be umbrella (before hearing it), maybe we are projecting our wishes for more complex lyrics I like the sound of the song, and we obviously cant judge it on a 5 second snippet, but I think I can relax and be happy that it may just be a cute little rainy lullaby with electric guitar and screaming in the last chorus
  6. Definitely sounds like umbrella. I tried so hard to hear anything else! Tbh the piano sounds nice. It sounds like rainy day piano.
  7. Tired of Singing The Blues Your Girl Dealer
  8. Piri by Dreamcatcher is still that song
  9. Tulsa Jesus Freak is a 9 but if it stayed the title track it would have been a 10
  10. California is a 10 but the lyrics in the verses make it a 7
  11. It's Arctic Monkeys - AM (not Lana! Oops) I definitely see it that way too tbh, it's just lately I've been so much more appreciative of HFK! I have to give it some credit bc I've probably slandered it before
  12. This is exactly what I was going to say. I think it would be awesome to explore the works that Lana references! And also I cannot stand any more YA.
  13. HFK grew on me with every year that has passed. At first I was like "this is a mess, she doesn't know what she's doing" and I suppose that's because I took her word for it that she would be doing the concept album better than the examples she gave (Born To Die and AM), which it definitely didn't succeed in doing. Imo, the album probably has half skips (the same way I see Manic) but half really good pop songs that I love unashamedly. It all seemed experimental to me, but an experimental success for sure. But still... IICHLIWP > Badlands & Room 93 > HFK > Manic.
  14. From Chemtrails: - The outro of Chemtrails, especially the video version with siren vocals - All the production details in Dark But Just A Game - The general heavenly ethereal feel of Tulsa Jesus Freak - The first chorus of Wild At Heart just sounds so epic and hits so nicely. - The beginning piano of White Dress hits really nice too. It's refreshing from the usual piano chords in her ballads. From Blue Bannisters: - The Trios beginning before the beat drops (even tho I love that too) - The brass in If You Lie Down With Me - The whirring strings at the start of Thunder - The organ at the end of WFWF - The second verse of Text Book. Production is so good and it makes me think of Nancy Sinatra. - All of her vocals in Dealer, just done perfectly. And the slow beat too. Miles has really done wonders with their collabs.
  15. I love their Serene Queen expressions
  16. _______ (demo 2022) is so fucking good. I'm so sad it will be scrapped from LDR9
  17. She's currently creating something as iconic as Cult Leader. In 2030 we will hear the leak "________ (2022 demo)" and hail it like no other
  18. Discovering after 8 years that shades of cool says "you are unfixable" not "you are unvincible". I knew "invincible" would be the right word but i thought it was just cute how she got it wrong
  19. It's kinda confusing how this album sounds like both a step inwards and outwards to me. Maybe the "inwards" is just in comparison to LFL, and NFR is like seeing herself in the outer world, not made intentionally for other people to relate to. It's like her push to feel freedom in such a constrained part of the world. I keep thinking late 2016 or early 2017 would have been the perfect time for me to hear this album, as that's when I was more focused on such themes.

    Melanie Martinez

Exactly. She did perfect in the Crybaby era with just music videos. Each one goes together nicely in a movie anyway. We had a much better time trying to piece it together with a story since it was done out of order and not spoon-fed to us. Yikes, but also yay because I get to forget about her for another 6+ months without thinking I'm missing out. See u then every1
