  1. Avril's new version of Breakaway >>>>>>>
  2. thank you!! I just checked my Spotify and I have 4 liked songs, 3 from Mother and 1 from Black Widow
  3. Ah sweet, I'm still a big Evanescence fan, always I never gave ITM much of a go, but I will now because my sister also loves them.
  4. I don't think Spotify has the options to look at genres like that, as far as I know, but wow, TASTE,! Your list is excellent. I think mine would be most of what you listed too. Would you be so kind to share with me who the artists are that are Gothic Rock & Gothic Metal? I'm curious
  5. Whenever I've really clung to a new artist, it's not because they remind me of someone I already listen to, it's because they introduce something new to me. I think ive had major expansions in my music taste a few times in my life. And by major I mean adding 5-10 new artists to the mix, usually focusing on only the new stuff for a long time before letting it settle back in with my old music. One was around the same time as discovering Lana, and it's because I had a whole new genre to explore (indie/indie-pop music) when I was previously strictly rock/metal. Another was when I dove into the psychedelic/electronic genres, and then another when I got more into this revival of emo/pop punk. There's usually also something shifting in my life that prompts me to do that. Indie= I was letting go of a lot of teenage anger and becoming more open without worrying about being "different from everyone else" Psychedelic= escapism from young adult reality checks Pop punk= angst returned as I needed to heal shit from the past So in my experience, expanding my music taste has never worked when it's forced. There has to be some kind of big change within me that makes me want to branch out and find new things to help me cope
  6. Thank you sm! I always look to that site for info but the leak date wasn't on the song page for some reason
  7. Ultra Violet

    Grimes

Oh cool yes that is indeed what I was remembering I always thought David was one of those songs too but now I know it's different.
  8. Does anyone know when You're Gonna Love Me leaked? Not the acapella demo but the original
  9. I know she won't do it but I kinda want a bit of experimental chaos, like the Money Power Glory demo, GKIT demo, Cult Leader and FMWUTTT demo. That kind of genre-defying sound with good thoughtful lyrics like much of what was in Violet might be too much for this world to handle, but im ready for that Bend my mind again
  10. Of course! This needs to be here on this thread too, for sure <3
  11. I did a blog post here, putting the timeline together of this albums creation. I put pictures in wherever I could, like studio photos, etc. Also links to some of the interviews. I'd love to go back and keep updating whenever I come across more info.
  12. I can understand why some people think there are fillers, because the vibe of some of the songs is a bit monotone and repetative. But because NTMT was 100% a sound I loved completely, I love every single song without failure. From the B-Sides too. In fact it was so solid that I've found I've never really wanted a NTMT 2.0, because I got everything I wanted already
  13. Ultra Violet

    Grimes

Wow I am so grateful the Realiti demo survived. It's probably my favourite song of Grimes. I remember Grimes also saying they scrapped the album (before Art Angels) because they didn't want to go in that direction anymore. Maybe both are true (the files were lost and they didn't want to go ahead with them anyway)?
  14. I love Don't Forget, and I love how her vocals have changed. Its clearly her, but at the same time i cant believe it, if that makes sense. I don't think it's an easy comparison to her older music at all. I also listened to Don't Forget in amongst the other songs we have (not sure on the current knowledge of whether they'll be on the album or not) and everything sounds so solid! I think this will be a great album.
  15. Ultra Violet

    Grimes

It's true i really cant compare them despite loving them all. I have my preferences but I'm not going to die on a hill saying that one or two are definitively better than the rest in all ways. I think I just put halfaxa and visions and geidi primes on a pedestal because so many people are unable to appreciate what grimes used to be! She has always been this good, musically, she just used to be more underground.
  16. THIS they literally give what she's currently up to no time of day. It's like those who will only post Kate Moss in the 90s and be like "goals!" Like um, unsustainable unrealistic goals, but go off
  17. Ultra Violet

    Grimes

I remember when Honeymoon was released Grimes was tweeting her live reactions, it was so nice. I recall her going wild over Art Deco.
  18. Idk, I found it much more enticing when she would tell us about the album and we got no snippets besides an album trailer. It made listening to Ultraviolence and Honeymoon for the first time all the more surprising and wonderfully confusing. Maybe it's also because those albums didn't leak so early.
  19. Tbh, this album was the most Lana album since Honeymoon. If this was the release after Honeymoon I'd have absolutely zero criticism about her music and it would have made perfect sense tbh. Realistically, it's stupid and pointless to imagine that, but like, IMAGINE THAT
  20. Ultra Violet

    Melanie Martinez

That is so sad but also I'm laughing
  21. Woah I only just saw the thing about Lana being influenced by Carl Jung for this album
  22. When I read this, something with dark old hollywood vibes and In My Feelings vocals comes to mind. Kinda like the instrumentals in Violet, or the intro of 13 Beaches
  23. I will take any and every opportunity for a 2013/2014 throwback.
  24. I've never thought of that GQ shoot as trashy. It might be the way she's posed that makes me notice she's covering up more than trying to expose herself (despite the legit nudity i know), and her gaze is not provocative either. I've always seen it as quite classy. Don't know if I'm the only one who thinks that tho. Even when I first saw that shoot at 15 years old, when i was very against nudity and things like that (trust me, no problem with it now), I still thought it was tasteful and at the very least not trashy. (I still don't think the man grabbing her boob in the shoot was very tasteful, just talking about Lana alone in those photos)
