They were both part of a band before they recorded "Ungirthed", but I've never bothered listening to any of its songs. :too funny: Megan was featured on a Dance Hall track a few months ago, and ago, and it was really good...they're also both going to appear on Danny Brown's next album, for which I can't wait. She's contributing a hook, I think, and he's producing the track.

Which ones? We don't know everything, but I think we know most.

My plan is definitely not to delete or hide this thread - just keep people from posting new ones into it.

Sounds fishy, I don't put much stock into rumored titles with the exception of "I Want to Be a Mermaid".

She upscaled them herself before uploading them? Just a bit of trivia while we're on the subject...a friend of mine (the wonderful & talented @@Born To Die) actually found the production studio where "I Like You" was recorded. I subsequently contacted them, and found out that she did four songs there with them. They were... I Like You (thankfully the same version we have today!) Do It Well (a different version than we have currently. I'm not sure if this respective version was ever online, but it's certainly distinct from the Dan Dragonette version.) At the Beach (another title I do not think was ever online, but it's obviously very old. ) The Beat (again, this is an example of a song with multiple versions...a separate version of this same track was once up in 2008.) And no, they could not share.

Looks pretty good, with a few suggestions. The version of "I Like You" we have is kinda weird, because it's been listed as a "new version" - with other evidence, ours should be 2009. Also, our version of "Do It Well" is newer than '08 - I think it might have been online as early as 2009. @@cartoon eyes Anything this list is missing? "Pop Princess" is from 2010, "Falling In Love" from 2009, and "Jungle Time" 2008. Other than that, not too sure about the other MySpace demos. Well, it was released in a very round-a-bout way...we should include it nonetheless. . other than that, I'm not sure of any MySpace demos that I can think of except for "Jungle Time", which was 2008.

Hmm, a table would be awesome.

    Lykke Li

Though I'm as curious as everyone else (and STARVED for actual new material! ), I think it's a good thing that at least her new songs weren't in danger....if they don't make her album tracklist, though, then I will be very upset.

Pt. II; I tried to post it all at once, but there were too many quotes.

Okay, these are the posts where I come back and have a lot to say.

  12. Nope, no thread yet! I love AlunaGeorge. Their album is a pleasant surprise, even though we've heard most of it long ago. I won't deny Aluna's voice can be very annoying on repeat, but I really like their aesthetic...not too pleased by the album artwork, though.

This is very, very true ~ even the pseudo-riffs sound undeniably antiquitated.

Yeah, makes me wonder how much stock we should ever put into something when an artist says a song is "old"...they don't seem to live in the same sphere of time that we do. It is possible that they are really old, however, because I saw the site had uploaded just recently an unreleased song that was online in the same form in 2008.

    Charli XCX

Why did she delete them???? Any way, I saved screenshots for us, because my iPod had the cached for a few minutes. And @@iseeyouupsidedown, I've been watching them for a long time, and besides the obvious "Heartbreak High", no-one's been trading them for "months" like everyone keeps thinking. For some reason, only now do certain people feel like it would be appropriate to reveal where the songs came from....we shouldn't ascribe blame to just random "traders".

You're wonderful! Thank you so much.

Guys, I just got 'Halcyon' on vinyl, but I really want it as a digital album too. Would it be too much to ask if someone could send me it, the bonus tracks, and whatever songs we have from the re-release (and "Bittersweet"), before tomorrow afternoon? I'm leaving for a week, and won't be able to download anything after I leave.
  18. Oh, it's the demo Pitchfork posted last fall, I think!

    Azealia Banks

The thing about Azealia's version that appeals to me is how incredibly warm her vocals sound - that's the only way I can think of to describe it. They sound like heated maple syrup, gently steaming on a stovetop in preparation to be poured over equally warm pancakes. Seriously, though, she made it her own, and it hits on some aspects of the original (I think) that are obscured by the production.

Yeah, I can say honestly I love every track. "Cartographist" and "Grandloves" can drag at times, but everything else is perfect. "Saltkin" and "Ungirthed" are so incredible, almost as good as "Fineshrine". The bridge on the former is in and of itself one of my favourite bridges ever, and the lyrics of the latter are so bizarre/creepy. but Megan's voice makes them sound adorable. "Belispeak" and "Obedear" are so dark, but they always go hand in hand in my mind...and then there's "Lofticries", which isn't bad by a long shot. Bill, have you heard their cover of "Grammy"? It's so good, when they put it up for download on their site it crashed, because the server couldn't handle all the downloads.

    Purity Ring

Yay!!! I absolutely love that band, and now there's someone else to talk about their perfection with. I've already said that "Fineshrine" is my favourite song of all time, but the little vocals of "Shuck" are so qute...such a weird song, though.

I'm past shaken, really ~ caring about it is so Charli's job at this point. Sitar finished saying what I didn't have the heart to say earlier. #longliveSitar #bringontheinevitablestofleaks
  23. Colette Carr did that too, right? Most of her fans seemed rightly disappointed, at least the ones I follow on Twitter.
