Purple, Silver, and Orange...anything very '80s. Pink & Green highlights, with stars and other cosmic bodies too.

How did I miss this thread? I love, love, love some of the first album...'Bratty B' especially is just perfect. However, their iTunes Session version of 'Over the Ocean' is probably my favourite song of theirs...her live vocals are really incredible! Another big reason I like them is because of how much they are directly influenced by Rilo Kiley. Bethany has actually specifically mentioned how much she was moved by the song 'Jenny, You're Barely Alive', which I myself absolutely adore.

Honestly, do what I'm doing and just wait for the album. I have all seven studio songs, and that's about all I'm listening to...I can play 'Bravado' alone all day, over and over and over again, so I'm sure when the album comes out I'll be able to appreciate it.

    Yeah Yeah Yeahs

That's the movie Arcade Fire scored! I guess this must mean she's on at least fairly good terms with Spike, for him to be using both a Yeah Yeah Yeahs and solo song in the preview.

There's one that might be him, that has nothing on it...here's his contact page from his site. I think @@evilentity said that he never responded to the emails previously sent, but maybe you'll have some luck.
  6. Honestly, Sky, Lorde, CHVRCHES, Icona Pop, and (hopefully) Charli deserve their own, less mainstream poll. And though I'm miffed at the lack of info, I'm still eagerly anticipating 'Lip$ha'.

    Sounds like Jeff Peretz.

  9. 'Scab & Plaster' is an ~outtake~ in the sense that she wrote it between albums, but she's described it herself as a song that doesn't fit - a true throwback. 'Sinful' is another TFJ outtake. I think 'Sinful' is '09, yeah. 'Like the Other Girls' is a very, very rough demo she recorded with Greg...now the melody (or at least parts of it) have been used in a song by a Latin-American pop star. A clip of the song we now know as 'Just Desserts' was leaked in early 2012, as 'The Other Foot'. I think it's safe to assume that it's an outtake, especially after the interview where she talked about it being intended for a rapper. o.O Then again, maybe not.

It's a very unique song. Honestly, I don't think it sounds quite like anything else in her entire catalogue. The vocals are really, really tender, and even though the lyrics are of similar caliber to 'I Like You' (that is, in wittiness), I think it's absolutely worth listening to. It's like 'Art Bitch''s romantic, more wounded sister.

But that's not from MySpace! Do you just mean sonically, as in it fits in with the others you listed? You're not alone, I like her old stuff as much if not more than the new. t.b.h., I just love everything, but it's true that there's something in the old-er songs that's special, that she hasn't kept as she's gotten older. I'm a total sucker for singers getting out of their musical comfort zone (e.g. Regina, Lana, Charli, Sky, etc.), and that's the general driving factor for me liking her weirder music. I wish there was a pt. 2 to '14' - an album of MySpace era demos, arranged around a guiding sonic or lyrical theme. Of course, we have almost an album's worth already, but they don't all go together very well...here's hoping for more of the quasi-rap hybrids she's always likes to talk about. :toofunny: And yeah, I'd have to say 'Too Cool' might be the worst of the lot we have, but I've still listened to it a ton.

She seriously resembles a dinosaur in this GIF to me...almost like she's a squawking female, about to regurgitate some partially digested meal for her hungry brood, right before deciding against giving it away in favour of swallowing it herself.

    CHVRCHES

Well, I never finished the 'Now Is Not the Time' video, but it's a legitimate video too, right? I really liked the skating rink aesthetic & concept for that one, but this one is even better...Lauren is simply ADORABLE in that black leather jacket. She's so cute, really...I don't think I listen to anyone else with even approaching those elfin features.

ALERT ALERT ALERT This is just not true! While I also do not think "Angry All the Time" was ever intended for a place on the album, it was definitely not on Charli's YouTube account in 2010. @@cartoon eyes (and @@iseeyouupsidedown), the videos Charli posted in 2010 were, as far as I've been able to find in my research, simply her dancing to songs by other artists (though I have no idea who right now) or the videos were self-made music videos for the same tracks. Just to qualify, the two videos were called 'I Am Not an Angry Person' and 'Hyperactive So Fantastic', and here's a blurb about them (pretty much the most significant write-up I've found): Now two You Tube videos entitled I Am Not An Angry Person andHyperactive So Fantastic thrust the fizz bomb energy of youth into our faces and leave us feeling as confused as we were before. Like the disobedient girl in class that’s going to lead us badly astray, we know we shouldn’t go anywhere near her, but there is something about her riot in a sweetshop zest that makes us want to climb out of the bedroom window late at night and go raving with her, whatever the consequences. 'Angry All the Time' was written and originally demo-ed in 2010/2011, with producer Matt Squire; it can be found listed with the song entitled 'Supernova' on ASCAP, under the wrong name. I contacted someone who has it concerning its nature, and apparently it's going to be given away...to whom or for what I have no idea, but I really hope we can hear Charli's version eventually.

Oh, song-wise, she's absolutely able to keep that up - she's possibly the most prolific artist I stan for. Remember her claiming that she wrote the entirety of 'Super Ultra' in what, three days? Or maybe it was a week, or ten days...regardless, if she could do that in such a short amount of time, I'm sure a full year would give her the chance to compose at least a full album of really strong, original songs, as well as any she has already written or will be writing for other artists. We still don't have a comprehensive (as in complete) list of every song she has recorded since she started at age 14, though I hope we have at least most of them...we've barely scratched the surface of her musicianship in more ways than I like to think about.

    Book Thread!

I have at least twenty different Bibles, of all sorts of different translations and types...it's lironic how many different facets of Christianity necessitate the use of a specific type, when, if you read the book itself, unity among the body of the 'church' is what should really matter. I've read about some Bibles that are in high demand among collectors, and some of them have really obvious translation errors.

Is 'Halcyon Day's a UK only release? And does anyone have 'You, My Everything' in iTunes quality?

    Lorde

Not the most exciting news, but all her new songs have been registered to ASCAP, all of them co-written by Joel Little. Assuming she makes the poor decision to keep all five songs from the initial EP on the album (which I wouldn't really mind, except that "Biting Down" sucks so hard), she has an album right there, with "Swingin' Party" as a perfect bonus track. As a recap, the four new titles are "400 Lux", "Buzzcut", "Ribs", and "Glory".

    Book Thread!

Oh, wow...I come from a very, very bookish family. I recently became possessed by a spirit of decluttering, so I got rid of a whole bookshelf's worth, but I still have a full bookshelf & am consistently collecting new ones. Not to mention the hundreds of books I have all over my house, ranging in topic from Theology (a lot of those) and Bibles to gardening guides, curriculum, textbooks, medical dictionaries, biographies, and plenty of fiction.

I would definitely agree, but you might want to stay away from unreleased songs.

I make a college covered in colorful rebuses/fun fonts, reminding her of all the unleaked songs I want. Then I would make copies of it and paper mache it to a box, in which I would put beheaded aggressive barbies, like she used to make in art class. Perhaps a sexual dinosaur diorama would be appropriate too.

I hadn't heard it, not that it means much...I don't follow interviews too closely, b/c I trust that y'all will fill me in on anything important I miss. Oh, and they had better release it.
