  2. Morricone. often forgotten, but a 2013 song that was registered and with this name can only be a masterpiece. i wish all the songs she did in 2013 would leak one day because she was really onto something at the time. songs like fine china, color blue, black beauty reach spiritual heights.
  3. i hope the album is long because as of now we already heard 5 songs off it (although thunder and cherry blossom were probably rerecorded)
  4. for Chemtrails we also had March 5, although not from her. however, we did get Dec 10 and Jan 7 from her too. not to mention the infamous Feb 26
  5. to be fair NFR was worse than Chemtrails but it truly is crazy how messy the past four rollouts have been. it really is crazy when you come to think of it, and i can't picture things getting better either, as she just gets away with anything.
  6. or i can just say that i'm unhappy with it and why instead of stopping reading anything. just because someone is giving us crumbs doesn't mean people need to settle for it in my opinion the crumbs we've been getting have only made the whole thing more confusing. we learned there was something of a surprise to this album, then that a big part of it was scrapped, and now we don't know what's on it except thunder and the singles, we don't know if the surprising thing is still there, we don't know a thing about the scrapped songs, or about the new songs, or when it's gonna come out, or the cover, or the title. we basically know nothing at all
  7. if anything, the reason why it's gonna feel rushed is because she scrapped half of it after announcing it twice under two different titles. she had enough songs to keep her word! and i wouldn't mind her changing the concept and thus the songs, if it weren't the fourth album in a row with which it is happening
  8. to be honest i'm really tired about BOZ being unclear all the time. there's enough messiness on Lana's part for him not to tell us stuff that's a little more specific than this. if he's just going to keep saying "omg you're not ready for what's coming although half of it was scrapped and i won't tell you what was scrapped or why or actually anything and by the way it is maybe possibly perhaps coming on time except it actually isn't'" i just don't get the point.
  9. oh no! I appreciate it, and the reason why i'm able to appreciate it is because we literally already have it, as opposed to the 2020 tracks which i can only hope will leak some day
  10. unpopular opinion but i don't rejoice at the idea of thunder making it onto the album. i would rather have the 2020 tracks she decided for scrap for some reason. i wish that she would at least go through her unreleased discography to dig up unleaked songs, as she did with yosemite. imagine how cool it would be to get, say, morricone instead of a 2017 track we already have. but if we're getting an album on july 4 i'm not complaining
  11. oh god i don't like the idea of songs being scrapped. at least we know nothing about them this time around, except for loved you then and now. i wish she had released the album in its original state on June 1 and had kept the new songs for the next record but it is what it is

  13. i hope when the album's out, we know what it was BoZ couldn't believe she was doing, although that's probably not a thing anymore if there are such big changes, because i have a hard time believing the thing he couldn't believe she was doing was just releasing 3 singles at the same time
  14. it just hit me in a sad way that whenever eras get messy like that, and we don't really know what's going on, we start manifesting things we hope for, the main example of which being rock, but also experimental music, catchy upbeat songs, cinematic music using violins, music inspired by a particular decade, etc. and it never gets real. it's just that we have in mind those beautiful songs she used to make - one user recently pointed out how Salvatore is such a great song despite its bad lyrics, because of the melody, voice delivery and atmospheric instrumental - and we keep hoping she's going to come back to something more impactful, but she never does. my point is, this is the fourth era in a row which is more chaotic than i can take, in terms of delays, changes and lack of transparency, and the chaos she puts us through every era leads us to build up expectations of our dream record, and as time goes by, those expectations are all the more let down as most of us wish for music that would be eventful (whether it be rock, strings, pop music) and the more it goes, the more stripped-down, almost a capella and fAiThFuL tO tHe SoNgS' nAtUrE she goes, which makes for an ever-growing gap between expectation and reality. and considering how much she said she has been doing country lately, and the three singles songs off her alleged revenge album end up being piano ballads, and even the work she does with mike dean consists in piano ballads, i just can't see things getting better, even though god knows she is capable of making honeymoon-level songs.
  15. i don't really mind that some songs are scrapped if this means they are replaced by new ones, i just hope people keep on knowing how to get their hands on new unleaked material so that we can hear them one day - although this implies, and the past six months have shown how far from being self-evident this is, that leakers actually leak things
  16. for real. just tell us about them. there's no use in telling us they exist without any further information also dealer and loved you then and now have a great chance of not being on the album but it doesn't really matter as some fans have them and are going to leak them if they end up not being there right? right?
  17. why do you think it feels forced? it's not like she's hammering the point home or saying it throughout the whole song. she says it only twice, and not even in such a random way, as the reference to old man river and the people she screams for prolong it to me, although QFTC and the aftermath of it were disastrous, the one thing they did show is that Lana is an honest person. she won't lie about her position on those topics, even though she doesn't always think the way woke people do, even though she's going to be criticised for it. so she's transparent as to her thoughts on those topics, and although this comes at the price at having to read through her clumsy, somewhat self-absorbed bits of commentary, i like feeling that she's not lying to us (although she is, on a more musical, release-wise level lmao). she's not afraid to sort of make a fool of herself during a BBC interview, so i don't think anything she says on race topics is fake. and, that's not against you, but i don't think being a 'white woman' should be any ground for criticism, or a reason for giving someone less credit. just because something is said by a white woman doesn't make it any less relevant.
  18. i like the BLM line, and there's nothing wrong with it. it makes sense in the context of the song, as it epitomises the personal and generational distance established between her and her father. it is sung sweetly over a beautiful melody and instrumental. of all the race-related things she could've come up with, given the fact that this was supposed to be a revenge album defending her position in question for the culture, she just offered a line in which she says black lives matter. it shows that what she considers to be excesses in 'wokism' do not prevent her from supporting the cause - here, the furtherance of Black people's rights. this is a controversial opinion in America, this has probably got her cancelled among many Republicans. and this line goes to show that despite her clumsy comments, she is on the good side of this fight. i honestly don't understand why on earth it would be cringeworthy. and as another member pointed out a few weeks ago, this song is going to get thousands of people to sing black lives matter, and this is powerful, and this is helpful.
  19. this. the reason why i love blue banisters even though it's really not her best melody to date is because of how both new and fitting with her current self the song is. this song is extremely atmospheric and such use of synths - and that beautiful piano melody near the end - is unheard-of in her discography. so although it shares common points with the songs on Chemtrails, it really sets the mood for something deeply new, bearing dark elements but also deeply appeased.
  20. yeah but like he did have songs before anyone we know of had them, like blue banisters, white dress, french restaurant, so it's likely to me he also has stuff like sugary sweet, but indeed we can't know for sure
  21. yeah and he also had French Restaurant when we didn't even know it existed, and also posted White Dress lyrics a long time ago, i definitely think his scrobbles are real, meaning he's got the songs he scrobbled for real, i.e. loved you then and now, but also garden of eden, sugary sweet, unidentified flying bill, bird world, as well as something called "looking for america (demo)"
  22. guys i don't know if this has been discussed before but that last.fm guy (actuallylucas) has been streaming text book and wildflower wildfire since May 7... were we aware of those songs' existence before Eclipse posted about them a couple of days before release? and he's also been streaming loved you then and now A LOT for the past month, which is a good sign as to the song's quality. how do we think people got their hands on it? do we think it's the mysterious track that had been mastered with Dealer and the rest of them? why do we think he has got his hands on lytan but not (apparently) on Dealer? also he scrobbled garden of eden only twice... we lost
  23. yeah that one was good but the other bridges on lfl are either uninteresting and based on the same chords as another part of the song or just uninteresting or non-existent so lfl still lacks good bridges!
  24. we'll see how it is when we get the tracklist - whether today or at another time - but i'm glad she seems to have brought longer songs AND bridges back. nfr, chemtrails and lfl really lacked good bridges
  25. The Chemtrails era as a whole just makes me sad. Chemtrails stands as the sister record to NFR, an album which many of us felt had something off to it, maybe because of the endless teasing and delays, maybe because of Jack's lackluster production, maybe because of the bizarre Instagram baddie persona she had in 2019. As for Chemtrails, it seems like they wanted to cram what was not supposed to be a real album - and was made in six months - into an album. The early tracklist that leaked the other day goes to show that she wanted to put out something, even though she didn't have enough songs to have a real tracklist - she had to dig up Wanderlust and Yosemite to make it to 11 tracks - contrary to Lust For Life, for which 129 songs were recorded. I'm glad we got the songs on Chemtrails instead of never knowing about them, but the album does feel like a collection of watered-down demos bathed in ambient laziness. It just doesn't compare to her older records. It doesn't have half as much strength as they do. So while I enjoy it, I have a hard time not seeing it as a weaker figure that is going to be all the more forgotten because it's going to be squeezed into the somewhat fresher NFR and Blue Banisters. Chemtrails will always feel special to me though, I just wish the urban, folk or - dare I say it - country potentialities had been developed enough for most of the songs not to sound the same. Even for Breaking Up Slowly, you have to admit the live version was rawer and more lively, and Jack's production made it lose its country feel.
