however i can not get over how bland dance till we die is, apart from its bridge... the melody, the vocals, the lyrics, the production, it's all just so uneventful. kind of a shame the end of the album has all those similar-sounding songs which are not so good in my opinion (except for yosemite) because the first few tracks are really, really good.

in my opinion, the title track is the best song on the album. it's just so good. it has the most haunting build-up, leading to the heavenly juxtaposition of different vocal layers at the end, but i have to say it is outstanding from the very beginning. the abrupt way it starts, the low voice, the seemingly mundane lyrics, her vocal delivery, the harmonica, violin and the guitar that add so much to the song... that's one of the few songs on chemtrails whose production is actually great the way it is people said this song was warm, i'd say it is really cold on the contrary, like winter is

it's kinda weird that they should've leaked dealer and not loved you then and now i mean dealer is going to feature on this album so that's both kinda useless to leak it as we were gonna have it in one month anyway, and really not cool for Lana to leak part of her upcoming album i agree there's a chance she's going to release loved you then and now in the future though so its leak wouldn't be devoid of ethical issues either

i'm all for her reusing older songs and writing her own story but i just realized lyrics like 'heroin gold in my veins' were going to be there side to side with 'chuck is making birthday cake jake is running barefeet there's a baby on the way' -

by the way isn't it a weird coincidence that all the leaked songs lana picked from her older repertoire got leaked in either 2019 or 2020? -

i can fly almost making it onto the album despite being officially released already when yes to heaven got rejected for the fifth time -
so you're telling me that lana was able to dig up thunder and dealer from her 2017 sessions but somehow paid her magnum opus mary (scared of me) dust?

i think the way Lana's been using an assertive tone for the most random opening lines on this album like 'there's a picture on the wall' is kinda iconic -

this whole situation makes me even more curious as to the mysterious song that was mastered for Chemtrails but then got scrapped, which was confirmed not to be loved you then and now if i remember correctly. I wonder if it also was scrapped because it was too different from the rest of Chemtrails, and if so, how different it was, like what genre it explored. I also hope the songs she did in 2020 and intended to put on blue banisters before scrapping them see the light of the day at some point although I'm confident this album will be excellent and coherent the way it is also, it's fascinating that we're going to get a 2013 song co-written by Barrie that we never heard before (although it might not feature her 2013 vocals if it was reworked), i really love this idea of us getting an old song which Lana obviously thinks is good in an official way. it also makes me wonder if some leakers possessed this song we didn't know about -

except for Arcadia (which we've known about for a long time, and whose title we've known for 2 weeks) we've known them for months though I'm grateful for the new information but it's not like it brought us any new element of the tracklist -

it's exciting to get old songs we never heard. thunder and cherry blossom are good picks so i trust her. it's almost magical to think we might get a dark 2013 masterpiece released officially! this is the first time an album is going to have songs from such different eras! -

that's very true. i feel like ever since hope was released (but that had kinda started with change) we always expected something less piano-driven than what it turned out to be. love song, let me love you like a woman, even chemtrails (which i love) and well most of the album, then blue banisters, wildflower wildfire, and the new song. even the greatest and fuck it i love you were, in their own way, more watered-down, more muffled, less rock or upbeat than what we thought they would be. every single time. it didn't make a difference when she said it was going to be a revenge album, it didn't make a difference when she did a song with Mike Dean, it didn't even really make that much of a difference when she decided to go country. so i guess until we have real indication she's aiming for a change in sound, we should simply expect piano ballads. that way we'll be less frustrated, because there's a lot of beauty in them, even though there's really nothing i wish from her more than another rock album. -

as I said, she said the song was about Topanga in July 2017, and the demo we got does not mention Topanga, so the version that features 'Topanga' was made before July 2017. that's just a fact. now MAYBE there was another demo that featured the word 'Topanga', that was changed again for NFR, but as she kept the same verses and the same production, I don't see what she could've changed between that alleged second demo and the final version. what people reproach her with is changing the lyrics anyway (nothing else was changed, except the part at the very end that got scrapped but that's like 10 seconds). and the fact that she mentioned Topanga (and referred to the song as TNBAR) in July 2017 shows the lyrics were already changed when lust for life was released. and i'm not saying the video makes more sense with the final version. i'm saying that only one third of the lyrics changed between the demo and the final version, so if the video made sense with the demo, it still makes sense with two thirds of the final version. and i'm saying that anyway, just because a video matches a demo more doesn't mean it was made for the demo. Lana's videos don't always match the content of the song. take Freak, Let Me Love You Like A Woman, Young And Beautiful, White Mustang, Mariners Apartment Complex. I personally do not think the videos match the songs. so the coherence between the video (that got scrapped anyway) and the demo is not enough of an argument to win over the argument that she mentioned Topanga in July 2017, referred to the song as TNBAR, and did not work with Rick to rework it after January 2018. the 4 producers were probably there on other LFL songs. and there's no need to be mean using "??" and "good try tho bestie" when i'm just stating facts also, she made a pretty chaotic job at reworking the song (in early 2017, not later) as she kept that weird 'fame fame fame' echo, so i don't think it should be assumed that she put a lot of effort into trying to bring coherence to the whole thing when she made the video. or maybe she made the video for the demo and then reworked the song; but we know for a fact the Topanga version already existed in July 2017. and the people reproach her with changing the lyrics (and removing the final seconds of the song, but i don't remember seeing as much complaints about this as about the change in lyrics), and that was already done in July 2017. so yeah, the myth that she butchered TNBAR for NFR needs to die. -

i'm positive it wasn't changed, because she hasn't worked with Rick between January 2018 and the release of NFR (I think?) and he's the only one mentioned in the production part of the credits, plus there are two times when Lana referred to the final version (she never referred to the demo) as early as 2017. also, why would the video not match the final version? it's not like the whole song makes any sense in its final version anyway, as the verses have the same lyrics as on the demo. and it's not like all her videos match the lyrics either. no, I'm pretty sure it wasn't changed for NFR, given all these things and the credits, but all the more so because she didn't change Yosemite either -

let's not forget the version of TNBAR we got was not touched by Jack at all. it literally dates back to early 2017. Jack is not mentioned in the credits and Lana herself referred to the song as TNBAR and said it was about Topanga in July 2017. I'm all for being critical towards Jack's production but the myth that he butchered TNBAR needs to die. because as neither TNBAR nor Yosemite was touched for the albums they ended up on, there's no reason to think Thunder and Cherry Blossom are going to be changed for the worse either
