  1. the only thing we need addressed from her before she completely disappears again is what she plans to do with Dealer it'd be interesting to have details as to the background of the album etc but Dealer's fate is the only thing i really care about. And remember in July 2017 when she was asked about BAR/Yosemite after the lfl release and she said she wanted to release them well she did! so that'd be nice to have some sort of a confirmation she cares a bit for this track
  2. she HAS to do something this week I'd be really surprised if she remained silent for yet another week at this point
  3. I totally agree but no matter how painful this pre-release was, I think this is shaping up to be the album of hers that fits most such dryness. Of course, our perceptions of albums are determined by the eras themselves, but the controversies around Ultraviolence did fit its content, and that was also the case for all the following records. To me, there's never been a major gap between her attitude on the album and her attitude as a public figure during the rollout. As for Chemtrails, there being a 'desert-like' song (Yosemite) and overwhelmingly stripped-down production, with only one relatively 'upbeat' song, does echo the emptiness of the era. It almost feels like the desert is part of its aesthetic at this point, with the white dress video, her being blonde, the Southern, Western influences.
  4. just a though besties...... it just occurred to me yosemite was composed by lana and i think that might be a factor why it was deemed not that good she almost never composes songs and maybe she's not that good at it
  5. i'm low-key convinced it's going to be excellent but i couldn't really say why the whole vibe just really gets to me
  6. yeah i think white dress is going to be teased one way or another before it gets released i can't believe we haven't got that much either but actually i'm really grateful i think it's for the best especially since we're at the end of the waiting period
  7. i'd be down for a surprise release but what we most certainly deserve is a regular rollout. lfl, nfr and chemtrails in a row.... we suffered
  8. the way white dress was described as sung 'breathlessly' and it's also the longest song on the album i'm assuming there's gonna be a lot in the lyrics
  9. I can't see why it would make that much less sense than saying 'let me love you like a woman'. The word 'woman' is obviously meant to be the subject of the verb 'to love' in here, although a man could say just the same sentence meaning he wants to love his partner the way he thinks a woman should be loved. Just like the word 'baby' can be meant to be the subject of the verb 'to hold', or not. And I've given several reasons, both in the context of the song and in that of her discography, why in my opinion, it does make sense for it to be this way, reasons which you have not debunked. So while I agree your interpretation makes sense, and I'm not asking you to give up on it, you just haven't shown me mine doesn't, and as long as several native English speakers don't tell me it is impossible for the verb 'to hold' to have 'a baby' as a subject and not as an object, I'm simply not convinced. We can put an end to this discussion though because it's neither pleasant nor going forward
  10. um although I'm not a native English speaker, I don't quite get why it would be that unnatural to use 'to hold someone like a baby' in the sense that i understood at first (which, by the way, makes perfect sense to me, because that'd be in the continuation of the somewhat pleading tone of 'let me love you' and in the submissive position that she often associates with womanhood and which echoes being defined as a man's girlfriend). I'm not saying your interpretation is wrong or doesn't make sense, I'm saying that I think both interpretations are possible (and I gave elements that supported mine, that is to say several other lyrics she used). If saying 'to hold someone like a baby' can't mean the 'like' applies to the subject, and not to 'someone', my bad, but I'm still not sure it's the case.
  11. while i agree it's ambiguous who's referred to as a baby, 'let me be who i'm meant to be' clearly implies who she's meant to be is defined in relationship to a man, which i find to be debatable, were the relationship symmetrical (which i don't think it is)
  12. I've thought about that too but her outlook on womanhood (more present in her earlier work, but still there in songs like 'love song' for example) and the number of times she refers to herself as her boyfriend's baby (and not just saying 'baby', rather saying 'I'm your baby', 'just like a baby, spin me round like a child', 'the way you'd play with me like a child', 'i was so confused as a little child' and stuff like that) makes me think she's referring to herself as a baby in that lyric, to holding him the way a baby would hold a grown-up. But I might be wrong, and it's open to interpretation anyway
  13. I really don't wanna get into a fight and I can see why you find it beautiful but I literally hate how 'who she's meant to me' is a man's 'baby' (defined in relationship to a man + in an inferior position, that of a baby) and how she essentialises womanhood (based on patriarchal stereotypes) like Lana you can do so much better
  14. in the end we still had to wait 1 year and 7 months! paradise - ultraviolence : 1 year 7 months ultraviolence - honeymoon : 1 year 3 months honeymoon - lust for life : 1 year 10 months lust for life - nfr : 2 years 1 month so yeah while the wait between the previous record and the next record is pretty average for lana (but longer than usual if you put it in relation to the length of the album...) the multiple delays and the silence for no good reasons have worsened the experience of the rollout, which i still deem to be the worst after NFR
  15. the way i'm going to wait until the 19th, get my copy at the store, come back home, play it in my bed with curtains closed and headphones and my phone off, just like i did for lust for life that was one metaphysical experience i was left to pieces afterwards even though we all know it's her worst album norman was so spoiled when it came out that i listened to the hq leak and only to the songs that weren't released already can't wait for the nine unheard songs
  16. it's only two weeks away though... i remember people being sure it'd leak weeks in advance when it got delayed so much, so i kinda set myself up for it happening, and even though i don't think it is going to, i wouldn't be surprised if some people had it already anyways it's not like any of it is going to change the fact that we won't have it for another two weeks
  17. the way we could've been fighting over track eight, titled dealer but it is what it is
  18. I think it's possible and even likely that the version that is going to get released in about 2 weeks is circulating already, so including Yosemite. And I think Eclipse would've told people if he had had Dealer, which the older version that got mastered had on it
  19. true but if there's just one kinda long title i truly don't mind... and it's not as long as some on LFL, thank God. even on other records, there were Fucked My Way Up To The Top, Music To Watch Boys To, The Next Best American Record, Hope of course
