I agree that the elements that the lyrics contain add up to a pleasant, sweet, nostalgic atmosphere. and for that reason, I don't think they're bad lyrics, i think they're average Lana lyrics. however, the reasons why i feel they're not as good as those for many other songs are that first, they don't have lines that I'd call beautiful in the sense that 'but i love that man, like nobody can, he moves mountains and pounds them to ground again' is. individually considered, all of its lines are very simple, and that's something that makes the lyrics weaker, to me, than those of HTD, where the global atmosphere is there too, but the lyrics individually considered are excellent. i also think a lot of those elements are reused from other songs ('nothing gold can stay', 'ice cream', being American, being stronger, being insane and beautiful, getting high, diamonds, Norman Rockwell...) to the point where it feels a bit forced to me. and finally, I know that's a controversial take, but for social and political reasons, I'm not a fan of calling oneself a bitch, or depicting oneself in an object-type position for men (which 'i'm sweet for you', 'it's me your little venice bitch', 'you write' and only THEN 'i tour' imply, in my opinion). but then again, I know they're far from being her worst lyrics

once again, I'm not saying the lyrics to VB are bad, I'm saying that in my opinion, which you don't seem to give a lot of credit to - implying im just not at the point where i can understand what you understand - they're not as good as those for the better half of the songs on NFR. and the lyrics to bartender, california, hope, fuck it i love you, how to disappear aren't that melodramatic either. and i JUST said i expected more from white dress, for the reasons that i gave, but maybe that was, indeed, setting myself up for disappointment. let's agree to disagree though!

girl i'm the number one hater of the songs where she glamorises domestic abuse, that's not what it's about... i'm saying a lot of her songs have lyrics that i consider to be better than those of venice bitch. on nfr, i think how to disappear, bartender, california, hope is a dangerous thing, fuck it i love you, mariners apartment complex have better lyrics. but that's just my opinion!

well i did, because of how it was called one of her saddest songs, because it's one of the few songs that deal with her Lizzy past, because she said it was clear what the song was about (whereas venice bitch??.......), because of the two-faced title, because of the 'it made me feel like a god' line also bartender was called weird and it has her best lyrics in a long time
-
yeah but the fact that she's talking about her Lizzy days shows there would have been an opportunity for a lyrical masterpiece, and in my opinion, Venice Bitch is far, far from that. so i hoped it'd be better than what it seems to be for white dress. we can't judge without knowing the lyrics, but i got disappointed when i learned they were akin to those of venice bitch. doesn't mean they're gonna be bad though

the way I'd rather have the political LFL outtakes on LDR8 than new songs inspired by QTFC because somehow her political views were cooler in 2017 than they seem to be now by the way it seems that we're escaping qftc-inspired tracks on chemtrails... none of the songs seem to be about it, which is consistent with the fact that the songs were all recorded before qftc (except for not all who wander are lost, maybe) though

sometimes i think that the fact that tnbar and yosemite are the two only older songs she's ever put on album (yayo aside) is testament to her actually taking our wishes into consideration... those two songs probably feel special to her but she also knows how bad we wanted yosemite, given the number of times fans asked her about it, etc. i sometimes wonder if she's had regrets scrapping several songs from lfl anyways girlies get ready for the political outtakes on LDR8

lust for life had 16 tracks but when it was released, 5 had been released already, 3 (cherry, white mustang, change) had been heavily teased (with several snippets), so that left us with 8 songs that were fresh, BUT we had had 30-second snippets of those 8 tracks too nfr had 14 tracks but when it was released 6 had been released already, 1 had leaked, 4 (cinnamon girl, hiab, how to disappear, nfr) had been heavily teased, so that left us THREE songs that were fresh (although 2 of them had been teased on her instagram, and we had had 30-second snippets of each too) in the end, chemtrails has 11 tracks, but only 2 of them have been released and 2 of them performed live, so 7 tracks are still fresh (I'm including tulsa jesus freak because the snippet was short) AND we haven't heard the 8-second snippets this time around conclusion: this album is going to be the one with the most unheard material since honeymoon
