  1. it's true that the general impression i have of NFR is 'underwhelming'. for a long-awaited record that was supposed to be reminiscent of the RHCP or introspective sad girl shit, it was just underwhelming. i still think it's good, and it has a stripped down, yet quite rich feel of its own, and many of its songs are good, or really good, but it did not live up to what it promised. Chemtrails however seems way more promising
  2. yeah but compared to NFR or LFL we at least don't have snippets, whether from qobuz or from lana's instagram or even real descriptions of what the songs sound like! i still think it's going to sound really fresh. and i'm going to try as hard as i can not to listen to white dress before the whole album either drops or leaks in high quality, i think it's the right thing to do
  3. the lightness of it? the lyrics? the rhythm? the eerie voice? the chord progression? the more urban feel? the title? the fact that it is most likely whf? i can't believe tulsa jesus freak is at the bottom of most people's list because we have actual evidence that song is brilliant
  4. isn't it sort of weird that she should not have chosen TJF to be a single? i know cherry and cinnamon weren't singles either, but the actual singles we had had were more radio friendly (lust for life, coachella, summer bummer, fuck it i love you, doin time). here, the three singles we're getting are piano-driven it makes me curious
  5. I guess it'll go like: 1) White Dress. From what we've heard, it seems to be outstanding, a career highlight. I love the lyrics we've got, I love the length, I love the theme. And I've decided not to listen to it before the album so it'll be all the more spectacular in context. 2) Tulsa Jesus Freak. I absolutely loved the snippet we got, it's just so good. It's also going to be a bit of fresh air to have a slightly more urban track. This one I already know is going to be excellent. 3) Not All Who Wander Are Lost. That one screams introspection and serenity. The title is eventful, the production seems great. 4) Yosemite. I've been craving for that song for such a long time. There's a good chance it's not that good, but still, I have relatively high hopes, to which the length and instruments have recently contributed. 5) Wild at Heart. That's a title I always hoped she would use. The original instruments helped build up my expectations. 6) Chemtrails Over The Country Club. I like it a lot, but unfortunately I genuinely can't see what makes it so special, and I had expected something less piano-driven and repetitive from the moment we heard the title. 7) Dark But Just A Game. The theme seems cool, although I don't like the title that much. 8) Dance Till We Die. I'm not a fan of the credits, but I still think it'll be good. 9) Breaking Up Slowly. I feel like we've already got the whole song, which is why I think it's going to be a bit spoiled when it comes out. Still, I liked the live version. 10) Let Me Love You Like A Woman. It's honestly just okay. 11) For Free. I often don't like her covers that much, and although I know neither the original song nor her live version, the fact that all of you seem not to like it does not make me excited. I think we're about to witness an actual cultural reset though.
  6. I love that Chemtrails seems to be not only about love and men. And I have the feeling it won't be like when she tried to widen her scope in Lust For Life.
  7. do a fair number of people actually have the album? like do we know it's circulating besides the 5 gays who have had it for months?
  8. why was the FIILY snippet we got three weeks ago from the French website an extract of the single version?
  9. god i hate when journalists are trying to show LFL as some sort of committed masterpiece...... "new-age folk", "feminist anthems", "songs about the state of the world" um i'm sorry where are they? as if referencing 60s bands suddenly made the title track non-mainstream lmao i can't
  10. To me, Hope is a very good closer, and the tracklist totally makes sense. The catchiest songs are at the beginning, then more “classic” LDR songs, then piano ballads. Also I agree about the magical aspect of the first listening. I had listened to the Honeymoon leak from UO and didn’t really feel anything with most of the songs; I grew tired of the others very quickly, even though I love them now. Whereas my first listening of LFL was literally stellar, in spite of the lower quality of the songs. I remember feeling extremely strong stuff as I discovered it for the first time in HQ. But of course everyone does what they want to
  11. some UV songs are very overrated: ultraviolence, shades of cool and money power glory
  12. is it better not to have bridges like NFR or to have bad bridges like LFL (numerous examples: lfl, wtwwaw, imf, love, groupie love, bpbp)
  13. it feels so much better without the "i don't want a link" posts ugh
  14. in America you always find a party dress. In the USSR the Party dress always finds you
  15. i like that NFR is a mix of a lot of things taken from different points of the era and at the same time remains cohesive. i feel like it was quite short to get done but still spanned over several months and since we had hints of it, i linked it to moments of my personal life and having the tour lyfe still be there is sort of completing the picture to me... it's like she acknowledges every part of the process. and i like that the album feels uncontrolled (the so-called production flaws or this lack of consistency)
  16. a few thoughts too, without having listened to it: - the lack of bridges is disappointing but i think it's just different from her other albums, which didn't have that much outros nor strong pre-choruses - Hey Blue Baby had a beautiful bridge so i definitely don't think she'll stop doing some, it might just not be as spontaneous as the other parts when you write a song (and those ones done with Jack seem spontaneous from what they've said) - she definitely needs to address the whole mess that was this era, her artistic choices, it is needed now. but the problem is that there is no interview in sight - i don't like how this is a leak without really being one it's so messy - i don't like that nothing is happening on her team's part now damn is it hard to react
  17. i can't with this Love Song slander i mean i haven't listened to the leak but how could it be useless when it features that heavenly intro?
  18. knowing those dynamics doesn't prevent me from joking about what the set of values that was imposed through education conveyed concerning doing things for others without necessarily involving money while being totally aware of the regime's reality and huge discrepancies with this theory and in no way defending it but i'm glad it's a topic that you feel so deeply close to
  19. california and bartender feel so weird in this cohesive album i think she should've scrapped them
  20. i'm wondering if Lana had forgotten she had already used that 'Topanga's hot tonight' line in Heroin because that'd be her style as a Russians' child i surely know about it
