  1. I absolutely love this and your insight! The second paragraph in particular is beautiful. The parts I’ve bolded here are what I think White Dress will capture perfectly. And it’s particularly telling that it’s the first track on the album because it immediately reintroduces us to what Lana does best but then allows her to expand on the future-oriented aspects of her writing that she’s said she’s exploring more with this record. So incredible - thank you so much for all this! <3
  2. I’m pretty sure it’s directed by Clark Jackson, (@/constellationjones), who also directed the LFL trailer, the Summertime the Gershwin Version video, and filmed Lana singing LMLYLAW for Jack’s Ally Coalition show. She tagged him in the first pictures she posted for White Dress on February 6th!
  3. We really are! And ugh, I love that so much, wow. The personal is the political, especially if you consciously take individual actions that are good-intentioned and of course are executed properly. I so agree that Lana sharing her insight is her way of doing that; zeroing in on her experiences and turning all the way inward is her contribution to the world - clearly we all resonate with it so much to the point that we’re on this site and I know we all come from so many different backgrounds. It’s crazy that we’re united by that. And to that I know a lot of people will think I’m just incredibly biased for crediting Lana that much - but the proof is in interactions like these, where we can place Lana’s work within the context of a broader world. Chemtrails is only going to solidify her being of that caliber!
  4. Yes, I 100% agree! I think she referred to herself as a fatalist who’s always seen something like this happening, and I’m excited to see her explore that in a very blunt but also bright-sided way. Like, “this is the state of the world and it’s insane but we’re making it all work” - I think that’s a really inspiring sentiment and Chemtrails will be like Norman in the way that it’s summative of our world at the time while not being a record “of the day” or dated - a broad cultural statement that is still so true to who Lana is!
  5. So well-said, my friend! I really love what this record’s narrative is shaping up to be so far. I always felt like Lana was really spot-on when it came to making social commentary through her music (even if it appeared to be solely autobiographical in some of her earlier records, but I believe that she’s always woven some sort of grander message into her experiences). While we can conclude this by reading between the lines and not so much what she’s word-for-word saying, I love how she seems to be exploring womanhood, the legacy of familial bonds - regardless of how they are - and staying strong in the midst of tension by centering yourself into the things that are important to you. I think we’ll see the latter bit on Dance Till We Die in particular!
  6. Yes, I also noticed that too! I really think it’s clear now that the “chemtrails” represent the turmoil she’s talked about in interviews (to Annie Mac she said she doesn’t find it hard to be good in the midst of all the bad) and in the IG caption when she put up the album cover (“there’s always turmoil and upheaval and in the midst of it - there’s always beautiful music”). It’s so cool to see how she’s going to address these anxieties that loom over and linger throughout our lives and the work we put into it to push through. I’m seriously so excited!
  7. Watching the White Dress teaser more closely and maybe everyone else noticed it too, but I think in this screenshot below, we can see a trailer park in the background! She’s really going all the way there with the references to her life in 2007/2008 truly a full-circle moment, wow
  8. I’m wondering this too! Maybe the single on the 5th or 12th? But lately she’s released singles alongside their respective videos so I think by precedent of the releases for this album cycle, it’s most likely that the video and single will be released together - especially because the only announcements of the song via social media have been video-related teasers!
  9. Yes, same! Doin Time’s video was released on the 29th, just 12 hours before the entirety of NFR came out so I’m thinking this as well. ooh, this would be a fun little Easter egg! I’m excited! <3
  10. I wonder if her posting the teaser today in particular means that the video is coming in 20 days, on the same day as the album? Not that it particularly means anything but she posted the teaser for the Chemtrails video 20 days before it came out!
  11. Ah, I missed our excitement turning into “well, it’s over” upon being debunked - all within seconds on the same page of this nonsensical thread.
  12. I don’t know about that writer’s validity, but he wrote for Flash Art Magazine, which is a legit, credible magazine, so it’s possible they know something! Elle (the magazine, not our queen ) also said Hope is a Dangerous Thing would be the 3rd track to be released from NFR in October 2018, 3 months before it even came out. Hopefully tomorrow it’s coming!
  13. I'm here now! I missed all the craziness of White Dress not being released and it seems like the aftermath of that has settled down, so I'll just say YAY to there only being 21 days left until the whole album is released, and probably a week or two until White Dress! I could totally see her putting the single out on the 5th or 12th, and then maybe the video during the week of March 15th-19th! Either way, everything is coming soon so "look how [we] got this " - let's just keep trudging on! <3
  14. I was thinking about it, and now that we know that Lana sings “white hot forever” during the chorus of Tulsa Jesus Freak, I wonder if the song actually was titled the words she teased in her IG post and Tik Tok from July 2020, “Tulsa Jesus Freak: White Hot Forever” - much like how she changed “White Dress/Waitress” to White Dress? Makes sense to me, and hopefully solves the mystery of what she meant by grouping what we thought were two tracks at the time!
  15. I love this so much! <3 this gets me all the more excited (as if that was even possible). March 19th cannot come sooner enough. This album is going to floor us!
  16. It definitely is a sadder song for sure, I agree! I was thinking more instrumentally - I too think Yosemite will be a bit brighter in tone but will share some mellow elements with Fade Into You! I'm so excited <3 I love this song so much, I would die! I love Mazzy Star's sound so much. When I first heard Hope Sandoval's voice, I was reminded of Lana, so I could totally see her going in a direction sonically similar to Give You My Lovin and Fade Into You I cannot wait!
  17. Right now, I'm imagining Yosemite to sound like Fade Into You by Mazzy Star! There's a prominent acoustic guitar, keyboard, and tambourine in that song and we know Yosemite has those 3 instruments! The mood of Fade Into You is also nostalgic and at times, very saccharine while still being bittersweet, so I could see Yosemite sounding similar!
  18. 35 days! feels so surreal now that we have the Mojo magazine cover and White Dress hopefully coming in 14 days!
  19. I feel the same way! I also think the fact that I never really thought about what the cultural landscape looked like in relation to Lana as her records were released helped with that. I know a lot of people associate Born to Die with Tumblr, for example, but I just never happened to be on Tumblr, so the presumed-outdatedness of that didn't affect how I listened to the album. And to be honest, I'm really grateful that I didn't participate too much in whatever was 'hot' in the culture because I'm not sure if I would be able to develop the discerning ear that allows me to pull back and really just appreciate the music for what it is without the 'white noise' that can make music feel dated. I love how Lana is able to dip her toe into various trends and genres while still making the music characteristically her own - and timeless, of course! <3
  20. I know you didn’t say that. Again, I said that I wasn’t speaking about anyone in general. Yes, the way this thread was going was in that direction, but I also said that people are entitled to their opinion. And I didn’t say that it damages the positive feeling, it’s just a tired shtick that infiltrates the threads and if you’re in the thread already, well it’s not ever fun to read a brash take. I’m not saying this at you btw because I actually enjoy your presence on this site!
  21. I know no one asked, but all I have to say is that people aren’t obligated to buy or not buy something. We don’t have to go around telling people what or what not to buy, as well as continually criticize something. I feel like a lot of people on here love to critique (and that’s fine, they’re entitled to that) but sometimes that’s ALL I see from people and it kind of ruins the camaraderie, especially if it’s unprovoked and it’s shared when people are excited about something and are just discussing among themselves. No shade to anyone particular, just saying. Hope everyone has a good day!
