Norman Fucking Rockwell - Pre-Release Thread

Ugh the fuck is that single cover. I'm on my first listen and oh god like I can't believe I'm actually saying this but this is the first time I'm not excited for a Lana record at all. MAC is okay, I haven't listened VB in months because I just can't stand that same guitar riff over and over again for 7 minutes and basically we've heard this new one plenty of times already - except that this time around she doesn't seem to be filtering her vocals with a paper. I'm losing hope y'all, those silly country songs were better than this. I'm just looking forward to the poetry book, not the actual record. -

I've been busy with work so I haven't been keeping up to date, someone pm me the song because I literally don't know if it's called Sylvia or that acronym inferno lmao -
She's doing post production for the WAP video and honestly I laughed when I saw her tweets (which she either deleted or I just can't find them anymore) about her not putting as much effort in her future videos because girl ily but your videos have always been more or less messy. Even the higher budget ones, I'd enjoy Kill V. Maim a lot more if it was just the cheap CGI scene all over, Venus Fly is frustrating to look at because of the constant slow motion and I just don't get the cowboy angel/renaissance vampire(?) aesthetics of Flesh without Blood at all. I have my fingers crossed that I'll end up liking the upcoming WAP video though, I think the lyric video is pretty okay.

Oh fucking god I'm gonna die if it is. I haven't pirated movies in 2 years but there's no way I won't download it when it hits digital in the US on the 15th, I just simply can't wait for the Finnish blu-ray release - there's no confirmed release date yet, it comes out on March 29 in Germany so Finland will probably follow a week or two later and I just can't wait that long. I went to see it for a second time and I was in luck because the first time I saw it they only had screenings in the smallest and oldest part of the cinema and a couple of weeks ago it somehow had a 4K screening in the biggest one and I definitely went despite it fucking up my sleep pattern and the following morning at work. It was so worth it though, it was the only thing I could see and the sound system was superior af. I'm so happy I got to see it properly I did a digital illustration for my little sis and had a print made for christmas so I thought I'd take my stanning to a whole another level and also had an A3 print made of the Suspiria poster I did some time ago, framed it on our living room wall just last Saturday. I'd definitely make some changes but overall it looks pretty good up there so it's all fine.

The acronyms of her song titles are truly becoming something like those temporary mumbo jumbo passwords you get when you forget yours and have to reset it. -
I don't listen to even half of the tracks on her each album anymore, like 5 tracks per record at best.

Yaaasss I won this bundle of the Suspiria LP, a bag and a flipbook! Also someone on ebay is selling a rare promo bathrobe or something and a small chrome replica of that hook which I really want for some reason but I ain't paying a shitload amount of money and customs taxes on top of that lol

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNMDaJcUKMs well that was rather disappointing, you can't hear shit
-
I finally got myself to watch the last two episodes since I'm on a 3,5 hour bus drive atm going to my folks for the weekend, the finale wasn't that bad but I kinda rolled my eyes for the cliffhanger twist like come on

When she first performed in Finland in 2013 a couple of journalists accused her of using playback on the audience's part, as the audience's reactions and singing didn't feel very Finnish and the singing sounded like the audience had a Brittish acccent. Back then I didn't really (want to) buy it but last year when she performed here for the second time at Flow Festival, my friend had a morning shift because she worked there and took the evening off to see her with me, so she heard the soundcheck and sent me clips of Ride in which you can clearly hear an audience singing along loud af. I buy those accusations now Edit: Oh btw I don't mean to criticize her, for God's sake I stanned Britney for years. I guess it just makes Lana feel more comfortable on the stage. and half-ass some vocals every now and then

Ugh I swear I'm going to shut up about Suspiria eventually but here's a poster I made last weekend, during the past couple of months I've made a couple of others but I'm not happy with them at all and even this one has some major flaws like hands and feet but whatever.
-
Ugh I've had the last 2 episodes on my laptop for weeks but I just can't get myself to watch them because Sojourn or whatever was so bad
-
Listening to it for the first time rn, I don't dislike it but I also don't quite know how to feel about it yet. I hope it grows on me Edit: It does
-
Mirror of WAP please, my laptop won't let me download from dbr.ee
-
We Appreciate Power title confirmed, she posted the single cover art on Instagram. I dig it.
-
Oh it better I'll take Medieval Warfare 2.0 as well though, I hope it won't be more like Play Destroy like someone described earlier because I'm not into it that much
-
There's a countdown on her website, if I did the math right (which I do not guarantee) it'll be 6AM my time and 4AM in the UK. Also I hope that ГРАЙМС somehow suits the "squatting Slav wearing Adidas" aesthetic, otherwise I'm going to be slightly disappointed.

Norman Fucking Rockwell - Pre-Release Thread

It took only a few months for her to basically turn LFL into something that clearly wasn't planned when they began the era so girls and gays at this point anything is possible. Wouldn't surprise me at all if she actually rename the record due to legal reasons, changed the overall genre and vibe while she was at it and half-assed the whole thing like she did with LFL, when a small photoshoot behind the scenes of a video was somehow album photoshoot worthy. Even after 7 years I swear to god I wouldn't hesitate to unstan if the photoshoot of this record was done during an iPhone music video filming and featured those foreground dancers of hers. -
Yeah I suspected that but excitement got me
-
I've been at work all day, has it leaked Edit: Wait it's an album now????, WHAT
-
I can't believe it's already been a year, omg. I definitely haven't listened to it or her that much during these past few months post-concert but the album remains in my top 2 Björk records for sure. Loss is still my most played track within the last 365 days (246 plays atm) and Utopia my most played album (1096 plays atm) for that matter. Also if she really is putting as much effort into one specific show as she's said, I hope OLI won't hesitate to milk it, I'm down for a live DVD/blu-ray for sure - especially if they keep at least a part of the stage props, I loved those so much. I'm a bit sad about how this era has sort of worn off since she's almost completely disappeared after the summer tour, I wish we'd get a couple more videos or remix EPs (yes Loss I'm looking at you) to keep us busy as it's a well known fact that the post production of her videos doesn't just happen overnight but takes months and months of work. But then again we didn't get a "proper" video for Notget until last year and Vulnicura came out in 2015 so for now hope's not lost.

@@Tragic Rabbit When Suspiria reviews first started spreading I remember it was mixed af, on Letterboxd people seem to mostly love it although there's obviously some haters in the bunch as well. I've been very surprised how all professional Finnish reviews I've read have given it 4-5 stars except for one, I assumed most of them would just throw it 3 stars or something and criticize its length for example - but no Based on my own observations, the subplot has been the main issue for many - and honestly I didn't mind it, the film definitely didn't feel like 152 minutes and I would've loved to see more and more. That said, after the amazing finale I could've done without the following epilogue but it did give a closure to the subplot, I think I even heard someone crying at that point. To me the film was a magical experience and I'm craving to see it again as soon as possible, I'm definitely thinking of going to see it on the big screen again as I simply can't wait for the blu-ray to drop (which I already preordered) and I can't wait to have seen it enough many times to start analyzing it to every last detail. mother! is shaking as Suspiria might take its place on my list of my favorite films ever.

The Neon Demon is visually very stunning at times but yeah it's not really that good. I have it on blu-ray and have watched it a couple of times, I love the opening credits (omg that music) and the opening shots. Also okay y'all I've finally seen Suspiria which I've been spamming about so much here lately, it definitely wasn't as gory and disgusting as people made it out to be but I still loved every second of it. The climax omg. Might just be my favorite film of 2018 so far, hands down. I wanna see it again already. As we left some man reached out to us if we knew anything about the music and if Thom Yorke also sang in the movie and it was my time to shine, also when he asked if its score is available somewhere I was like "yeah I actually have it on CD and it's on vinyl as well"
