She really does have a thing for white/cream lace dresses, doesn't she!

Does anyone else find that often Lana's not so good or more boring songs have the best lyrics? I think it's because it's difficult to multitask on making a good tune etc as well as making it good lyrically. For instant, everyone knows Pawn Shop Blues is a lyrical masterpiece but it's also my least favourite on the album.
Plus, Sirens is her worse album (you can't deny it, I love it but that's literally a fact) however, for me, it's her best album lyrically and if the poetry was lame, I wouldn't love it the way I do.

Everyday when I get home and there's nobody else in the house (except my cat and I think this is the reason why she's nearly deaf), I go in the bathroom where it's really echo-y and I sing on the top of my voice to the live version of Million Dollar Man. I've managed to get myself to believe I sound really cool, just like Lana but once I recorded myself just out of curiosity and... I don't want to talk about it

I could say the same about a lot of masterpieces mentioned in this thread but I really just can't right now.

Because seriously whenever the server goes down, I experience an intense existential crisis as I am reminded of how much of my time is invested into connecting with my disciples/followers favorite community and I then devote my evening refreshing the page, looking at cat gifs, listening to Lana, having an existential crisis, fawning over Morrissey, and refreshing some more, praying to see the beautiful homepage once again.

I LOVE YOU SO FUCKING MUCH, LANABOARDS SERVER, AND IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT BEFORE,
    NOW YOU DO,
    NOW YOU DO,
    NOW. YOU. DO.

I also think This is What Makes Us Girls is overrated. I wish she'd stuck to something more like the demos (which slay) because imo, the album version can be a bit boring, the bridge is the only thing that saves it for me.
Blue Jeans too, it's grown on me quite a bit recently but I still think it's overrated - probably because, like VG, it's a more well known song but it's a little bit boring. And that stupid yelling in every bar is a bit too much for me.

I don't know whether I'd be totally creeped out/disgusted, satisfied that he's a Lana fan, be happy to be in bed with Lana too or all three

Yes! BTD is an iconic album, the songs blend in perfectly and the production is fantastic. But I also hardly listen to it now, only really in the car or when family friends come over (for some reason my mum always wants people to know about my music taste which is embarrassing).
I actually think the album's underrated by her biggest stans because her unreleased songs seem to be so much easier to listen to because you don't need to listen to it as a whole album plus there's always an unreleased song to fit your mood.

@ - yay, another resident Emilie Autumn fan! I love her poetry too, I find that YSSU is great to listen to when I'm sleeping too because she talks in a way where you feel as if she's talking directly to you, it's soothing but the content is brilliant and creative. It's a shame she's so underrated but I was surprised at how many stans there were when I saw her perform, she seemed really emotional and happy to have us all there - she said that all the terrible things she's gone through has been turned into a work of art and she wouldn't choose to change any of it. And then she threw cake at me and I pretty much died

I hope we can maintain this thread as being a kind of Barrie appreciation thread, I personally love him. He's a real chilled out, cool guy. I think I'd die if him and Lana broke up. But it's kind of annoying how everyone just uses his twitter to get info off Lana, he is an artist himself - just because he's not as popular. (Although it's good to hear she's already writing again even after the leaks, assuming he didn't just make it up).

Truly an underrated genius. I discovered her back in 2010, and since then have listened to everything that's out (to my knowledge, anyway, I have twenty-five of the unreleased tracks, I don't know if they are the only ones in circulation,) Willow, Opheliac, I Know Where You Sleep, Marry Me, Thank God I'm Pretty, Shalott, God Help Me, Photographic Memory, Dominant and Fairweather Friend are definitely some of her musical gems in my opinion. There's a very strange atmosphere that Emilie sets that is very capturing, so long as the listener allows themselves to be captured by it.

But it wasn't until actually sitting down and listening to the Your Sugar Sits Untouched audiobook that I connected with Emilie much differently. There was a time during my senior year in high school when I would just listen to only the audio book on a loop whenever I could, but especially enjoyed having it play as I slept. I've laughed, cried, longed, reminisced, smiled, daydreamed and simply dreamed over and over again to YSSU. It is probably my most frequent played album of hers in my library. There's such a comforting, forlorn disquiet and reconciliation between madness and reason, infatuation and rejection, sadness and acceptance, contentment and wanderlust in many of the poems. But there's a sense of resilience that Emilie withholds from being driven to silence, and had it not been for the fact that she sets this very "let me talk to you," delivery, I think that phenomenal quality would have gone overlooked. It is such an intimate audiobook, there's nothing more to it, there is an intimacy that cannot be mimicked. There's true genius in having that capability as a writer and poet.

I want to have a tea party with her so bad.

November has a Member of the Month? It's more than halfway over! I know I know I know, we had some false starts but Vinny Vidi Vici stepped forward to accept the crown, and what a deserving member he is! One of the most articulate interviews I've conducted (read: PM'd a questionnaire) and if you find this lacking in commentary from my end it's only due to a series of "I AGREE"s that I deleted. Let him hear it (and I will allow his reign to overlap into December a bit to be fair).

There's no denying her voice is good pitch wise but I can't stand that nasally, irritating sound and I don't think there was really anything special about the song apart from maybe the bridge but tbh the same applies to the original song
Plus there's the fact that I just don't like her but I tried to keep an open mind
