I'm a bit worried of how some people think it's "soo easy" to accuse someone of rape? First of all, when something like that happens it literally takes a toll on your body and mind, that makes it even more difficult to go through the process of reporting it. Which is why many rape victims just keep it to themselves. Plus, people who deal with their emotions and thoughts normally can't nonchalantly accuse someone of raping them. this is why false accusations of rape are rare and, for the most part, aren't received as relevant.

Also even if Tim did struggle in her career, starting one by accusing someone - even is she's right - is madness. Women in the workforce were told, until recently maybe bc times are changing, that they needed to shut up about their sexual assault because even if it happened it could ruin their careers. And women artists don't want to be seen as  -at best- victims or worse cunning liars because they risk to never be taken seriously in their craft.

I'll add that if people decide to destroy their cds/vinyls well they are in their own rights: it's their stuff and they can do what they want. And MM didn't handle the response appropriately.

Expect its different because these people had bought her music before and are now making a gesture to her that sexual assault is not acceptable and that they will no longer be supporting her by buying or listening to her music.

She was homeless? Did you even read the post? Melanie had power over her by being the person putting a roof over her head and that power is what made it difficult for Timothy to resist because she probably did not know where else to go.

It's not about not realizing what was happening. When shit like this happens, your body can betray you and leave you defenseless, confused, etc. Even if Timothy didn't push her away at the moment it doesn't mean she gave consent and that she's happy with it. It was a crime. End of story.

    cute little video

Oh my god can't believe after all the Harvey mess we are still defending RAPISTS and actually blaming the victims.
The fact that you might love the singer and that she is a woman does not make this ANY LESS TERRIBLE

I can see that most of you prob never went through a traumatic situation since you aren't able to understand what does "state of shock" means. The last time something really bad happened to me/someone else I wasn't even able to cry or talk at the moment, I was just standing in the middle of the room when "the bad thing" happened.

a part for speaking in general terms there's not much we can contribute to this specific case, especially with a such bad statement from Martinez

This is disappointing as fuck to read, especially from you.

Rape can bring on a paralyzing fear. You can keep saying no while your body is unresponsive towards your attempts to move. Even if her body was responsive, there's still a fear of what could happen if she did fight. When you're raped, you can go into a completely different mental state as a coping mechanism. You can be fully aware of what's going in and decided to just sit through it in hopes that it'll be over soon or in hopes that it doesn't get worse. There's no one size fits all response or action that needs to be taken to a rape to real or valid.

Hmm, that's true, but she might've been afraid to do so. I mean who wouldn't be? I mean, I was raped & I've had friends tell me to go to court but I don't want to. I don't want to have to see him again. + I was in denial for like 2 months. Maybe, she's had a similar case.
Wait, did Melanie ever say she was bisexual guys? If she never did, didn't Timothy out her ?

I'm so sorry it happened to you, condoleances. And you're right about court.

I thought he didn't want to have anything to do with her since they "broke up" and he unfollowed her on all social media lol.... guess they made up or maybe he needs just some publicity

......Henny she literally said "she didn't say no to what we did together."

    That's admittance.

Melanie's statement was so half assed and poor. She didn't even deny it. About Timothy: "She didn't even say no." - Sounds like something a rapist would say. Hm.

i don't need to be an expert to know a shitty statement when I see one?

Melanie admitted to it but doesn't seem like she thinks what she did was wrong. Does that sound like a good response to you?

Also, wishing rape on someone isn't okay, ever. I know people can feel a lot of anger in situations like this, but we can't support victims while wishing something that horrible on others. Wish for them to lose their hair or their Hot Pockets are always too cold...  but don't take our pain and wish it unto others. It trivializes it. It makes a joke out of it. It contributes to the thought that our lived experiences are a joke, a comeback, something that can quickly be used to attack others.

For all the rape apologists in this thread: Melanie is not denying anything. So you sounded stupid.

Melanie's statement is possibly the worst she could have made. It's bitter and condescending and just makes it easier to believe that Melanie was manipulative towards Timothy. I mean, "sending love and light her way?" Gorl she's accusing you of rape. It just seems like she got caught but won't take responsibility for poor actions
