yes yes yes! Daygo Reflection is a lovely song. Not sure if it's a collab, but Azaelia's Blue Jeans remix was great too. As for other artists, the only one I would really love would be a song with Frank Ocean.

I recall an interview that she mentioned she does smile, but a lot of photographers ask her not to.

Interesting, reminds me of Dangerous Girl, definitely. Lovely as per usual

I love love love love love the idea of this being about Axl Rose. Considering her previous love of him (Axl Rose Husband, the Gramma video, GnR shirts, etc) it's just too fucking cute, her love of rockstars. But my question is, when she was seen with him, was she not supposed to be dating Barrie at the time?

Lana perfoming Ride on Langs de Leeuw today
DominicMars replied to Your Girl Lana's topic in Latest News
WOW! You read my mind! These are my thoughts exactly. I think she looked beautiful and her vocals were good, but I can't help but think that more of a beat would help her performances just a bit. That said, just by this video you can see just how much her live performances have improved in the last year. -
Wow! Good find!

Judging by this excerpt: SHINY TOY GUNS had just fired Carah, and Mikey Martin the drummer for SHINY TOY GUNS who was banging her had started banging someone else in New York... a 20 year old mentally screwed up aspiring folk singer, and Mikey Martin had also asked me to marry him at that time (I declined his offer of marriage and his offer to replace Carah in the band SHINY TOY GUNS in January). The author sounds....just a little jaded. Sounds like somebody had a bad break-up with a member of Shiny Toy Guns who apparently can't keep it in his pants, and was trying to name-drop some unknowns to make it seem factual.

Oh, wow! I didn't realize that those recordings were the ones of Triple J. That is....yeah, shit quality, as you said. If there is a proper recording of this, I'm sure it'll appear online, no worries
-
Hmm they were both posted in Sept. of this year, perhaps they're fan recordings or YT rips of videos (would explain the quality).
-
I see! Wonderful news though, can't wait. Love when they play pro-concerts on air
-
Does this mean we had a professional recording of this show (Heart Shaped Box?!?!?!?)? *drools*

I don't see why not! There are plenty of people that perform multiple times on SNL. Her vocals have definitely improved (compare SNL or her French concert to anything from this year), and if she sang the right songs, I think she would fare better. However, if she sings Body Electric and Ride, then no. Girl's gotta switch it up. SNL is a fast paced improv show and between breaks, people don't want to hear slow crooning.

Alternative and pop are both fitting genres I'd say, considering all of the material that's come out. BTD and Paradise, as someone else said, are classified as Indie Rock when you import it into iTunes, but I'm not sure if that has any meaning at all.

Cant you just crop or darken the watermark? It's not covering anything on the photo...
-
....I'm sure it's free with purchase. Otherwise that kind of defeats the purpose of, you know, them selling it and making a profit (not to mention that it's a free vinyl for incentive to not download music for free)

Um, and I'm not really interested in the United States at all Sigh, another note of Lana's dislike for the US.

Paradise - Pre-Release Thread
DominicMars replied to Mileena 's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
Entertainment Weekly has a review in this months mag! Like her debut, Born To Die, the polarizing pop vamp's new EP contains some truly great moments ("Bel Air" and the Rick Rubin-produced "Ride" chief among them), but the lame lounge-singer numbers and femme-fatale fakery drag it down. Though she makes a few knowingly meta nods to her own rep ("Like a groupie incognito posing as a real singer/Life imitates art"), Paradise leans too hard on the same tired drowsy-Lolita poses. B- - Ray Rahman Better than the C+ they gave Born To Die! -
The Revenge of Lana Del Rey is what I named my remix album! Love the title

Okay, I recall her previously saying she was unhappy with some of the production of AKA and David Kahne in previous years, but as far as I remember (earlier this year i believe, possibly on NPR) she said she was working with Haynie (on Paradise) and that she loves working with him and his production style. Yet, in this interview she says she dropped the hip-hop beats because she didn't want to just send her work to somebody to add a beat. Isn't that, in a sense, what Haynie did to the BTD tracks? Or perhaps it was a reference to working with The Nexus and other BTD era collaborators?

Yes! Invest in a region free DVD player! Or if you have a recent one, Google to see if it has a region free setting on it. I started ordering DVD boxsets of US shows on Amazon UK. I got a complete series on DVD before it was even out in America and it was cheaper than US retail even after international shipping.

Love Kill Kill. Beautiful song to begin her careet with. Honestly, I think she could have recorded this in addition to (...or instead of) Yayo for Paradise.
-
I'll be going to Target in the AM! If somebody doesn't get it before me.
-
Maybe it's just the weird instagram filter...but that photo looks odd to me.

Cheers to the Alanis reference! Are you referencing Adele's 21? Interesting that 21, of all albums (Adele's not from the US, yet has massive sales here), is selling similarly to what Jagged Little Pill did and still is with momentum + sales. Do you think Lana could reach that, post-BTD and Paradise? Also, interesting note: Alanis Morissette had a previous recording contract and 2 albums under her belt before she had a major international debut as well. As for people calling her old and pregnant, well it doesn't shock me since the Unpopular Lana Opinions thread is just a bunch of her fans calling her names and her music bad.
