it's not really delusional to not want an artist you respect to turn into... THIS, a goddamn fool: It's not precisely unprecedented. And I wouldn't call it "experimentation" either.

Rihanna is not Lana Del Rey. I love Lana but...she cannot convincingly pull off the wide array of genres that Rihanna has (not just on that album but in her entire discography). That is not Lana's ministry. Lana can do a lot of genres, but not to that degree. Definitely not trap. For me, it's not that diversity is wrong. It's that Lana has no synergy with trap music, contrary to the opinion of the gays on this board who think everything involving a TR-808 drum machine is trap. And I love that the same people who fell in love with Cherry bc of the IG videos are the same people saying that it's great AND that we can't judge based off of it. I don't want Lana to come off like Katy Perry, slapping random popular rappers who don't even mesh with her sound on records just because she can. And I DEFINITELY don't want Lana to turn into Miley Cyrus (and I mean that both musically and socially). I love rap music. It's what I listen to the most. And I know Lana has incorporated rap elements before. But there are at least two main concerns I have with her doing this, and both should be obvious.

If Lana has more rap features, let them include Kendrick Lamar and Lupe Fiasco please. A Shining Down meets Fear. meets Gods and Monsters style track please.

True. But what I heard didn't sound particularly good (the autotune mumble-yelling stood out most). I'm just hoping the collabs are limited. I could be okay with 6/7 collabs...I don't want more than that.

There are good uses of it and bad uses of it. Guess which I think this falls under?

There are lots of rappers who woulda sounded good with Lana: A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, Chance the Rapper, Azealia... But not Playboy Carti and definitely not with autotuned mumbleyelling.

Fun Fact: that doesn't stop us from liking or disliking what she does.

I can't imagine why they like it when they bitched about Coachella and Coachella was actually good. I don't like his music, but I could overlook that if what we heard of this song sounded good...but it didn't. I really hope this is for some other project.

This actually makes me nervous about the record. I could deal with an A$AP Rocky feature or two, but random ass rap features with people and beats that are too much? No. I hope not. Lust for Life will be garbage if it has multiple fucking Carti features on it. As it is, I didn't want a Lana Duets album but here we fucking are.

She can show an interest and it still be a mess. And the clip sounded like a mess. It had way too much going on. I'd rather have a G-Eazy feature than a damn Playboy Carti feature. And I don't want a G-Eazy feature.

I hope the song isn't for Lust For Life tbh. Playboy Carti is trash and this song could easily be the Jewels & Drugs of her career (that is to say, a complete disaster).

That doesn't make sense. Why would Lana leak a low quality, 97kbps bitrate version of a song? (The Best American Record I have, that I got within an hour of its leak, was 97kbps) And if Lana leaked it...why would it have been scrubbed from the Internet as fast as it was?

I would neverrrrr. Maybe it's because I'm a fan of opiates, but I couldn't snort a random amount of an unidentified powder. I never really saw Lana as a coke type of girl. I see her as more of a heroin, meth, or PCP-type.

There's no way to know if that's actually coke, since you can't (for the most part) identify a drug 100% based on appearance. But cocaine and multiple different opioids/opiates can look alike (fentanyl, U-47700, crushed Dilaudid, etc.)

Ehhh. the Florida Kilos lines really don't mean anything. And I doubt Lana has ever done crack cocaine (and I just noticed those lines were kinda wrong, you can't make crack with baking powder, only baking soda).

There are other drugs that are white powder.

From my understanding: the title No Kung Fu is fanmade, but it's a real demo tape. I don't know how it leaked, but I remember reading somewhere that it was uploaded to a torrent site as a demo tape from Lana. I know the torrent was real, but I don't know if that's where the leak actually came from.

We haven't heard the studio version of Cherry, though. And when Lana performs songs, she tends to cut parts of them out, so it could be a line from Cherry we haven't heard.
