  1. Does anyone have a link to a good and updated masterpost of her?
  2. Hell no. It's good, but not her best at all.Production sounded sloppy sometimes, mainly 1st half of the album. Honeymoon stomps on this album production-wise. The nice thing about this album is the variety. And how it flows. It flows reeeeeeally well.
  3. Tomorrow Never Came is coming for Video Games's wig.
  4. What a messy beat... And the even messier mixing... Lana, girl...
  5. Y'all sometimes talk as if Love is the universal human compassion anthem of our generation when it's basically just about hipster teenagers.
  6. The way she sings the first line... ...Reminds me of when I first listened to her and felt instantly attached.
  7. I love her song "Everything 4 U". The other ones I see as good efforts, but she has great potential.
  8. I would also like to notice how Brooklyn Baby's and Flipside's chords remind me of their sound.

    Interpol

Interpol are a trio (once they were a quartet) from New York, formed in 1998. Despite comparisons to Echo & The Bunnymen, Joy Division, The Cure and many other acts, they have an unique sound and were heavily involved in what we call post-punk revival. Their first album (Turn on the Bright Lights) was critically acclaimed. It's still considered one of the greatest albums of the century and had a great influence on today's rock music. They have crafted other three albums and now, after a release hiatus of 4 years, are planning to debut a new one in September, called El Pintor (an anagram of Interpol). Interpol is one of my favorite bands and as they are releasing a new record, I thought I should see if anybody here enjoys their music as well. I surprisingly saw that there was no topic about them here and decided to create it, if you don't mind. I'll later update this post with videos and photos, as I try to figure out how to do it (I have been on this forum for a long time and still don't manage to attach things to a post properly).
  10. The fun is not understanding what she sings and just go with the flow and sway foreverly.
  11. I thought I had listened "He's got the fire, and he walks with IT / He's got the fire, and he talks with IT" in the beginning as well. Maybe, somehow, a reference to Twin Peaks's "Fire walk with me". I might have disfunctional ears, though.
  12. I really admire Nina Simone's original version, and because of that I was naturally quite worried about Lana's take on it. But it did impress me to the point that I like her version more than the original one. But I understand that it might seem off. Maybe it's just that I tend to fall easily for interpretations like that.
  13. WHY THE HATE FOR THE OTHER WOMAN? It's such a flawless, emotional, deep and raw cover of a truly brilliant, beautiful classic song... The best song to end this album, it just gives you chills.
  14. Okay. Here are my thoughts: Cruel World is a cool song. When I first listened "Put my little red party dress on" with those overlayered vocals, I got chills. I just hoped the guitar intro Lana mentioned would be way longer (at least 1 minute), given the length of the song. I don't adore Ultraviolence. The repetition of the chorus is tiring (I had that same problem with Body Electric). I probably won't listen to it a lot. Shades of Cool is everything. One of Lana's best songs. Haunting and beautiful, and the guitar solo overpowering her unlistenable vocals... God! It gives me life. Brooklyn Baby is a nice song, I really like it. The way she sings "Brooklyn ba-ay-by" it's so unique. And Barrie's vocals were a nice surprise. I don't understand how some of you say almost every song on the album is better than West Coast. I guess as it was released earlier, we somehow got tired of it, I don't understand completely. But that song stands out. That tempo change and those little Lana choirs are refreshing. Sad Girl surprised me in such a good way. It may be a little too early to decide, but it's probably my favorite song of the album. Jazzy Lana to me is Lana at her best. Pretty When You Cry... It's beautiful. Not even the repetition in the chorus annoyed me. This song is heaven on my headphone. The last minute live must be awesome. Well, I didn't like Money Power Glory and Fucked My Way Up to the Top much. I guess it didn't flow right with the rest of the album, those beats. "Dope and diamonds, do-oope and diamonds" was pretty cool, though. Old Money is great. I think it is a bit overrated, but still it's a lovely song. The first time I heard Lana's cover of The Other Woman I cried. Truly. You can hear emotion through her voice. Her vocals were beautiful. Some people here said they would love a Lana album of covers. I believe every person who hears this cover would agree to this idea as well. This new version of Black Beauty is nice. It doesn't stand out, but it's at least better than the demo. Guns and Roses might be too repetitive, but it has such a peaceful chorus. Florida Kilos is Lizzy Grant's ressurection in form of sound waves. It's a great bonus, a fun song. (I'm sorry I wrote too much) Edit: Damn, I really wrote too much.
  15. Regarding the snippets, I really liked Pretty When You Cry. The tiltle didn't attract me much when I saw it on the tracklist, but that first line on the snippet is really touching to me. Also enjoyed The Other Woman, Sad Girl, Old Money and Florida Kilos. Cruel World somehow disappointed me, but I feel like I have no right to judge it, as it is just a microsnippet. I'm still excited to hear the guitar solo.
